    From Aecia to Zeds

    When I fell into a swarf
    at the sound of his bandura,
    he sweetly loosened my atigi
    and offered me a leaf of qat.

    You do the garden justice with your haiku spreading its fronds of sense.
    What is the work if it isn't a ticket to slip into vivid euphoria?

    From Aecia to Zeds - I have absolutely no idea what this poem is about but I loved the words and the sounds of the words.
    Silence is a Sea - the title and subject matter remind me of A Silent Spring.
    Eleanor, et. al. such noble names for chickens, who, ultimately didn't fare well. Poor things.

    Nanggala Lune ─ Valete nautae. Very sad.

    December 1999 ─ A story beautifully unfolded, the exact tone of S4!

    From Aecia to Zeds ─ my mind's eye sees you scrabbling out of swarf and brushing down your atigi with consummate elegance.

    Patience ─ a lune suitable for a kitchen window or a glass house ─ but I'm sure you have a conservatory, a find wintergarden.

    Lovely variety!

    A bird to watch in the linden tree,
    a nap on the grass in the afternoon,

    The highest perch upon the shelf,
    a pen to push around the desk,

    the most delicious dish of fish,

    all of these belong to me.

    Leaf, thank you for your fine contribution to the KD canon.
    Full of enjoyable images, worthy of any feline friend.
    I think you have a soft spot for cats.
    I found S.2 comforting, maybe I'm getting soft!

    cheers

    Whatsit?

    Invented for the bride of Frankenstein,
    to frizz her curls and bring her back to life?

    Or will it simply shock unwary scalps
    to scare them into growing hair again?

    If it could read your thoughts and moves at will
    There's nothing you could hide from scrutiny;

    you'd be obliged to tell the uncut truth
    when buckled in with sensors on your head.

    Could it calm your angst or apprehension,
    vanquish panic, doubt, and phobias?

    Or will this apparatus fill your brain
    with all the wisdom known to humankind?

    Perhaps its most impressive gift would be
    the means for all to see inside our heads.

    Gofef, you know very well I have a soft spot for my kitties; mine turned twenty this year.

    Laurie, there's a link below with a glossary to unscrabble the words.

    Cameron, Dunc, all of you, thanks for coming by.

    Animal Crackers

    Zebras and buffalo browse in the grass,
    with sheep, a giraffe, and a kangaroo;

    Hippos and elephants wade in the lake,
    while rhinos observe from the shore.

    Gorilla surprises the camels and seals;
    They all wear the lion's biscuity tan.

    Animal Crackers - right off I envisioned a zoo, and then came back to oh, it's the cookies- either scenario fits really well.
    Batku- thank you for "pipistrelles", which I had to google - you've taught me a new word. and it's perfect for the ku. In the summer, at dusk, I like to sit outside sometimes in the dark and watch the bats feeding - they are the ultimate acrobats of the sky.
    Wild Orchid Lune- offers a lovely image, monkey orchids, I assume? orchids are so exotic. did you know about these (no idea what they're called) ? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/86/2c...c2088f3a56.jpg or these bird orchids? https://i.etsystatic.com/25677177/r/...22114_4hw4.jpg s- and then there are these parrot orchids http://www.retiredaussies.com/Colins...20IMG_0603.JPG - any of those would make a great subject, too.

    Hey, Cookie, thanks for coming over, I love the links! The white bird was my second choice, such a gorgeous, simple little thing. That little one with its bowl is just adorable. I chose the monkey because it grows around here, so I feel a connection with it - I link the things that need it below the poems. When I lived in Seattle, I had about fifty varieties in my collection, but I found homes for all of them, and rely on the wild ones in my yard now. Cheers, time for dinner and more catching up.

    Wild Orchid Lune ─ Gorgeous image! A cascade of pale purple primates, putting life in a still picture.

    Batku ─ all blessings to our chiroptera, great and small! Yea!

    Animal Crackers ─ And they all pause and nudge each other and say, Aren't those humans funny-looking under those raggy things! Practically bald, y'know.

    You bring a special zest to the outdoors.

    Thanks, Dunc, for the reminder that we are pretty much half-baked compared to the animal cracker crew.
