Doms Stovetop Beef Stew

- 2 lbs stew meat cut up in 1 inch cubes shopping list
- 2 tbs flour shopping list
- 2 tbs olive oil shopping list
- 16 oz can of beef broth shopping list
- 64 oz V8 tomato vegetable juice (large) spicy if desired. shopping list
- 1 whole bay leaf shopping list
- 1 tbs basil leaves shopping list
- 1 tsp ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp cayenne red pepper (optional) shopping list
- 2 large garlic cloves shopping list
- 1 large diced onion shopping list
- 6 med sized white potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes shopping list
- 4 celery stalks sliced shopping list
- 4 carrots sliced shopping list
- 1 pkg fresh sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 1 pkg frozen cut green beens shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1 freshly baked sour dough loaf shopping list
How to make it
- Coat stew meat with flour
- In large stew pot, brown stew meat lightly in oil.
- Stir in beef broth and V8 Juice.
- Add 2 garlic cloves, knife slit for flavor.
- Add bay leaf, basil, and pepper and stir.
- Simmer for 1.5 hours until meat is tender.
- Add in onion, potatoes, celery, carrots, mushrooms, green beans and simmer for 45 minutes until vegetables are cooked.
- Serve in stew bowl and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
- Enjoy with some fresh cut slices of sour dough bread. (butter optional)
