Italian Cookies

- **Wet ingredients** shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 1/2 C. sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 1 stick butter, softened shopping list
- 1/4 C. shortening, melted shopping list
- **Dry ingredients** shopping list
- 3 1/4 C. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. ground clove shopping list
- 1/2 C. cocoa shopping list
- 1 1/4 Tb. baking powder shopping list
- **glaze** shopping list
- 2 C. powdered sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 3/8 C. milk shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix "wet" ingredients in one bowl and "dry" ingredients in another.
- Mix wet and dry together in largest bowl and add in 1/2 C. chopped nuts (pecan or walnuts work best)
- Grease hands with shortening, and roll 1 Tb. of dough between hands to form into small balls.
- Bake on a cookie sheet in hot oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let rest on baking sheet for 1 minute.
- Roll hot cookies in glaze and place on a wire rack to cool. (Note: place a piece of wax or parchment paper to catch the drips from the cookies and make clean up easier.)
- **When you mix the glaze ingredients together, it should have the consistency of white craft glue, and you may need to make more to coat all of the cookies.
