How to make it

  • Slice the tomatoes in halves.
  • Use a pyramid steel grater to purée the tomatoes: grate the cut face of the tomato onto the coarse surface of the grater until the skin of the tomato touches the surface of the grater.
  • Pour purée into a bowl.
  • Mix the olive oil and salt into the purée.
  • Toast the slices of bread.
  • Pour the purée into each toast and serve.
