Hot German Potatoes

- 1/2 lb. bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces shopping list
- 1 (7.8-oz.) pkg. Creamy scalloped potatoes shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed shopping list
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 2 3/4 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vinegar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce or white wine worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained shopping list
- 1 (2-oz.) jar diced pimientos, drained shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 400°F. Cook bacon in medium skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain bacon; reserve 2 tablespoons bacon drippings.
- In ungreased 2 to 2 1/2-quart casserole, combine reserved bacon drippings, potato slices and contents of sauce packet from potatoes. Stir in sugar, celery seed, pepper, water, milk, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce until well mixed. Add sauerkraut, pimientos and cooked bacon; mix well.
- Bake at 400°F. for 40 to 50 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir before serving.
