I was going to do this series but completely forgot about it...were these captured from TV? The only episode I don't have is the super cars episode. |

well I had this listed on the forum since February... Link to "forum.imcdb.org" |

Unfortunately I hadn't seen that thread, but do you have The Rise and Fall of the Supercar? I can't find a copy of that one at acceptable quality. |
◊ 2007-05-09 00:56 |
Rise and Fall of the Supercar was Episode 1, all cars from that episode are listed above. They only one I haven't put up on the page are ones that need checking first to see if if they are duplicated footage from earlier Top Gear or Clarkson releases. I've done the grabs from Ep.1-4, but if you want why not do Ep.5-6? Of course, some of the VCR transfers are a bit grubby, but once listed they can always be replaced with DVD etc grabs at a later date.. |

I don't mind bent8rover, but a possible problem with mine is that there is a channel water mark over them all. I'll post a sample later on if you want. |

Well watermarks are on a number of submissions already. It isn't ideal, but if the image of the subject vehicle is clearer I would think it's better used than the poorer alterntive. The problem of the source channel rearing its head on copyright would be hard to mask though, so ...why not crop the image / cut the corner off, where possible? Maybe admins could offer advice here? |

I doubt that having the channel logo is an issue. It is maybe the opposite: it shows that the picture was taken from TV and not from an illegal divx copy ![]() |

I forgot about removing the watermark manually, considering I do it often for IGCD ![]() ![]() |

sorry, but, erm.. I think that grab is poorer than the example on here... Just to make it clear, my set was from my original yr2000 off-air VHS tape recording > SVHS player playback using S-Video signal > Sony DVD recorder > onto PC drive > grabbed using DVindex > all levels and sharpening done in Photoshop. I know they're not from DVD master, but I wanted to get page started... |

I agree, SWF's picture looks not better than yours. It is less sharp, but it is maybe because the car is not so close? |
◊ 2007-05-12 00:06 |
It isn't at the exact same frame, no. The colouring is definitely different, but yours appear to suffer from some blurring troubles in movement? |
◊ 2007-05-12 00:17 |
But i think Bentrover's has those lines that appear when you transfer something directly from a VHS or sometimes from a DVD recording, it also seems to have the colour bad, SWF's is more sharper in my opinion |
◊ 2007-05-12 00:18 |
For sure not "more sharper", it is the opposite (well, maybe due to the fact that it is not the same frame). Maybe cleaner, but colors could be more vivid. -- Last edit: 2007-05-12 00:19:12 |

It's the blue colour cast and lack of sharpness that spoils the SWF image. Removing the cast, sharpening 25%, boosting the colour saturation gives this:![]() |

...which wasn't sold in Europe. Acura never has, unless you count Russia and presumable simultaneous CIS releases (2014-16) Anyways: Link to "www.caranddriver.com" -- Last edit: 2024-01-02 16:17:19 |
