That shot of the turbo charged motor actually belongs to a different car. if you freeze the DVD you can slow search and see that there's a chrome strip that runs down the length of the hood and the radio antenna is not a 69 charger.

i hadn't noticed the 2 turbos in the engine shot in the ep but when cale gives the turbo to the dukes to install on generall lee it's just the center mounted wastegate setup and they make it look like they installed it in like 3 minutes.

I've only saw half of this episode so can anyone tell me the main purpose of this car for being in the episode?

Demetrie, this Charger was supposed to be a test vehicle for Yarborough's special turbo/wastegate setup. Later in the episode, this white Charger was "painted up" as a duplicate of the General, along with a third decoy purchased from Cooter.

Of course, it's quite obvious that it's an ex-General with a white spray job.

The spark plug wires can be seen on the distributor cap at the back of the motor. that means it can't be a big block mopar.
also that looks like a GM brake booster & master cylinder and GM hood latch bracket in front of engine

I believe the hood read "FORD" when they popped the hood in the episode. Fairlane/Custom 500 perhaps?

It's not a ford motor, Ford V8 engines don't have distributors at the back of the motor.

Then there's something very strange going on there. If you have access to this episode, check the footage. I think you'll find I'm right about the "F O R D" lettering.

MarkM wrote From the photo it's likely s small block Mopar motor. They had the distributor in the rear just like Chevys, plus the master cylinder & power brake booster look just like those on a late 60's-70's era Mopar. The underhood area being painted black is more a GM deal, but if it is a resprayed General Lee, it could easily have a black engine bay & General Lees had both big & small block Mopar engines in them depending on if it was a "hero car", stunt car, whatever.

That looks like a GM brake booster and hood latch bracket...........anyone have a better picture?

Not a Mopar LA block, nor is it a Mopar engine bay (especially due to the lack of a wiper motor sitting in the center of the firewall, poking into the cowl area). That's not a bolt-down or Bendix-style brake booster as one would expect in a Mopar either; definitely a GM booster, though the GM style could be bolted into Ford applications.

At any rate, it's some sort of a draw-through dual turbo setup. Have found similar on a few Google searches, but nothing identical.

I'm going to backpedal on my statement about this possibly being a Ford. That cowl area is GM, and so is the curved lower window. Looks very similar to that of a Tempest, but the hood molding makes me think Buick.

Just found it. The under-hood car is a 1966 Buick Skylark. Cowl vents, radio antenna, hood lettering, and center hood molding all match up:

So somewhere in California once existed (or still exists) a draw-through, twin-turbocharged 1966 Buick Skylark. Interesting.

Is this the only solid white 1969 Dodge Charger on IMCDB?. Because there's a great GTA V movie, called 'Hotline', that has one in it.

Are there any more views of the outside of the car?
