Card Kit Make Over Week 1

Today I am excited to share with you my first week on Card Kit Makeover. I will be showing 2 cards a week over the next 3 weeks that I have transformed from a kit. If you are like me I am always looking for a great buy and I came across this card kit awhile back and bought it. This weekend I decided to put them together but when I got out the pieces I decided I really needed to do more with them and so I did. My first card photo is how I tweaked the original card. I used the card base, pink and rose dotted pieces that came in the kit along with the stitching RubOns. I added my Kaisercraft Happy Birthday RubOns along with some banners that I stamped with my Hero Arts Hello Flags and Memento Black Ink.

As you can see the Kaisercraft RubOns and Hero Arts Hello Flags really make the card very special. Notice that I placed my flags on pop dots after I cut them and added some tan twine for a streamer.

Here is the second card that I would like to share with you. This is the original and here is what I did with it..

Again I used the card base, scallop edge and Thank You RubOn that came in the kit.

But....before I added the scallop edge and Thank You RubOns I stamped the top right edge and bottom left edge of the card with my Tim Holtz Filigree stamp. (This is one of my favorite stamps and I use it quite often) I then added my scalloped edge, added a piece of light blue twill ribbon. I stamped both ends of my ribbon using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. To finish this card I placed my RubOns just off center of the card and added a fabulous dimensional silk flower to left front of the RubOn.

Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge #6

For Challenge #6 Scrapbookaholic by Abby has asked us to either make our project using Kich N Bleus Designs or the KaDoodle's Designs SVG files for our project. I selected the Kich N Bleus Graduation design for my project because I have two young people graduating this year from high school.
I used the Autumn Leaves Paper, clip and large gemstones to make my 5x7 card with. I printed my Kich N Bleus image out twice and colored one in with my copic markers. I used R27,R29,R59,R81,Y19,Y29,E25 and E27, once I had the image colored I cut it out. I used the other image and cut a mat size with the image being in the center and stamped my congratulations on my white image base with Memento ink and a Congratulations stamp.
I inked the sides with Charcoal ink and placed my cut graduation image on pop dots to give it dimension. I added my clip and did some staples at the top of my white card stock to attach it to the black Autumn Leaves pattern paper using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. Congratulations to all of the 2011 graduates!!!

Hello Kitty Challenge #5 with Scrapbookaholic by Abby

Today Abby from Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge #5 is for us to make a bag or box using "Hello Kitty". All you need to do is link your project to InLinkz over at Scrapbookaholic by Abby Blog to be entered in to win a fabulous "Hello Kitty" Watch. If you are like I am and didn't have any "Hello Kitty" images but Celeste from Touched By a Butterfly has a SGV file that I am sure she would share or you can go to Squidoo's Hello Kitty Coloring and Printables like I did to find some fabulous images.

For my project I made a cupcake box using the image that I got from Squidoos Hello Kitty Coloring and Printables.

To make your box, take a piece of red card stock and your scoreboard, score at the 4" and 8" marks, turn your page and score the opposite side at the same marks. Fold the corners to form triangles and glue to the inside of the box, I used paper clips to hold my sides together since I use Quick Dry Glue.

I printed my images twice on my printer so I could color the Hello Kitty and be able to layer it. I just love using Pop Dots to give my projects that added dimension.

I colored Hello Kitty image with Copic Markers G14,R24,R29,Y15,Y19 and R82, after it was colored I fussy cut it out and using my Shabby Shutters and Wild Honey Distress Ink I distressed the edges. On the roses I did Glossy Accent on each of them and allowed them to dry. I added a small ribbon to ballerina dress after I got it on the cupcake box.

I made a belly band to go around my box, ink the sides of it and did some line work using my Brown Le Pen. I also fussy cut some of the flowers from a sheet of Echo Park Record 6" x 6" Paper Pack. I again placed some on pop dots and added some gemstones to a few of the center flowers. The border you are seeing is from my lid, I used the EK Abstract Flower Punch on it.

Here is the lid, it is a piece of 8"x8" red card stock that I scored with my scoreboard at the 2" mark on all 4 sides. I did my scallop punch before I folded in the triangles on all four corners to shape my lid. The paper on top is a 4" and a 2 1/4" square from the Echo Park Record Paper Pack, ink with chestnut roan and I did line work using Brown Le Pen. My tag is a piece of green cardstock that is 2" x 4" folded in half, punched with the EK Abstract Punch and on the inside I placed a small piece of the red card stock, I colored in a couple of the flowers with my Copic Markers and the fussy cut the Hello Kitty and place it on my gift tag.

Flowers, Flowers Everywhere Blog Hop Day 2

Today we are celebrating flowers, I love flowers and am starting to wonder if our small flowers we planted will make it through the awful storms we have had here in Memphis with record rains and flooding. Here is the second card that I made for day 2 of the hop, I used a Hero Arts Background Luscious Ledger Stamp and Walnut Distress Stain. If you haven't tried the stains I would highly recommend them for stamping, all you do is rub them right over your image and stamp. It is so easy.

All of my flowers are made by hand. The rosettes are circles that you tear by hand. Tear into a spiral, take the outside edge with a pair of tweezers, start wrapping the paper around the end of the tweezers, once you get it started remove from the tweezers and finish rolling, allow it to release a bit and then glue to the base bottom. The other flower is punched twice from the blue scallop Marvy punch, take your scissors and cut toward the center of the circle, I added a little Rock Candy Distress Paint to the two pieces and tipped them up a bit and allowed them to dry. Once they were dried I added a gemstone to the center; also some pretty ribbon, a metal embellishment, some twine and so fun leaves.

I have had a thing for butterflies lately and just had to add this one to my card.

Can you see the flowers that are also on the Hero Arts Luscious Ledger Background stamp, all I can say is it is definitely luscious. My Minds Eye Card Challenge #23

Flowers, Flowers Everywhere Blog Hop May 7th and 8th

Today we are celebrating flowers, I love flowers and am starting to wonder if our small flowers we planted will make it through the awful storms we have had here in Memphis with record rains and flooding. If you popped in to see what I am showcasing on my blog I hope you enjoy the card I made because it is full of spring flowers and beautiful butterflies from a new Northwoods Jean Arneson stamp that I just bought. Here is the card that I made for the hop using the Northwoods stamp that I had mention before. I used my Copic Markers to color all of the images in - Boo,B02, Y13,Y115,Y19,G00,G02,G14,G17,V12,R81,R85, and R24 and Memento Black Ink for the stamping. The papers I use came from Memory Box Minuet Paper Pack. I also distressed the papers with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and added some small staples from my Tiny Attacher.
It is a little difficult to see but I added Glossy Accents to the center of the flowers to give time dimension. I love Glossy Accent it is great to give depth to a project and it is a wonderful adhesive as well.
I hope you can see the depth of my butterflies I placed some of them on pop dots, got to love pop dots for that added touch. I also used Tea Dye and Shabby Shutters Distress inks along with Chestnut Roan Ink to distress my card with.

Beach Charm Exchange and Imaginsce May Challenge using Imaginisce and Memory Box

Wow, I have never done a charm exchange before but after I got my charms made I didn't know how to send them. I decided I would make some fun tags to attach them to and send them out that way, can't wait to see the charms I receive in exchange.
Also, Imaginisce is having a challenge and the criteria is:
1.)create a masculine themed layout/card/project
2.)use one of our Snag'Em Stamps from any Imaginisce collection
3.)you must use at least 75% of Imaginisce product
So I am entering my tags into the contest because I made a few extras to use as gifts for my the men in my life.
The tag is made with a Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers that I cut out using my Big Shot and white cardstock.
I then stamped the tag background with Memory Box Vintage Record Sheet and Black Memento Ink. My edges are distrested with Pumice Stone, Broken China, Mustard Seed and Shabby Shutter.
The cute Blowfish is one of Imaginisce Snag'em Stamps, stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with G12,G14,R83,R85 and Boo Copic Markers. I then fussy cut them out with my scissors and added Glossy Accent to the eyes to give them dimension. After the Glossy Accent was dry I placed it on with the tag with pop dots. I got my charm pieces from Hobby Lobby and Michaels out of their jewelry department. The pink charm is to represent a flower lei that you might recieve at the beach along with some metals; fish, butterflies, dragonflies, etc.

Sending You Happy Thoughts

One of my favorite cards that I made is using Unity Stamp along with some Cosmo Cricket papers. It is almost bike season and I want to "Send You Happy Thoughts" and a reminder of watching out for bicyclist and motor cyclist. I am also sharing this because I seen on Create the same precaution and they are wanting to see projects that involve bikes.

Echo Park Little Boy with a Sketchy Thrusday sketch

I found this sketch over at Sketchy Thrusday, though I missed the deadline on the challenge I still loved the sketched and thought it fit perfect for my layout that I wanted to do.

I used the Echo Park Little Boy Paper Collection because the color pallete worked perfectly for this projcet. This first layout I did I got the sketch from Sketchy Thrusday layout for the week of April 20th. The "Just Sayin" letters are from the Jasmine Cricut Cartridge.

My filigrees come from the Home Decor Cartridge that I cut at 3". I cut 2 to do all of my filligrees, I think it shows the confusion that happens in the lives of our children.

The second page I repeated the circles that I cut from the Accent Essential Cartridge and distressed them with my Tim Hotz distress tool, I also distress my red, blue and green strips of papers. I matted my photos with red card stock.
My letters are from the Jasmine Cartridge that I left on the Real Dial selection, notice by border punch on my green polka dot paper was done with an EK Success Deco Scallop Punch.
