The title of the series comes from the very first episode, where Udav has his length measured in parrots. In most episodes the heroes solve paradoxes related to language and meaning. In one, for example, they discuss the number of nuts it takes to make a whole pile. In another, they tackle the problem of how to convey a greeting without it disappearing in transit. The series was created by director Ivan Ufimtsev and artist Leonid Shvartsman, and scripted by children's author Grigoriy Oster. The characters were voiced by popular actors Nadezhda Rumiantseva, Mikhail Kozakov, Vasilii Livanov and Vsevolod Larionov. The series includes songs by Gennadii Gladkov and Yuri Entin.

  • America on Parade

    America on Parade

America on Parade was a temporary replacement for Disneyland's and the Magic Kingdom's The Main Street Electrical Parade for the United States Bicentennial. Like the Main Street Electrical Parade it was also created under the direction of Disneyland's Director of Entertainment, Bob Jani. The parade float units were designed by New York theatrical designer Peter Larkin. The first run was in the summer of 1975 and was originally designed to run through 1977, to commemorate the United States Bicentennial. Where the Main Street Electrical Parade ran twice nightly, America On Parade ran once during the afternoon and again just prior to the nightly fireworks display. It traveled the full length of Disneyland from It's a Small World to Town Square at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A.. The various parade float height design created a problem because returning the parade units to the starting point required traveling behind the Disneyland Public areas, encountering over-pass bridges and tunnels. The taller units were rigged to telescope up after collapsing to pass under the low ceiling obstacles. Other units' stacked towers were hinged to drop or fold on top of the parade float.

  • Bala

    Bala

Uday Shankar, V. K. Narayana Menon, V. Raghavan
Bala is a 1976 short documentary film made by Satyajit Ray, about a Bharata Natyam dancer, Balasaraswati, fondly known as "Bala". The film was jointly produced by National Centre for the Performing Arts and Government of Tamil Nadu. The thirty three minute documentary features the life and some of the works by Balasaraswati in the form of narration and dance, starring herself. At the age of fourteen, Ray had seen a performance of Balasaraswati in Kolkata, then known as "Calcutta", in 1935, when she was seventeen years old. Ray had initially planned to make a film on Bala in 1966 when she was in her prime. However, he could only start filming in 1976. Incidentally, though Bala was often called as "a revolutionary Bharata Natyam dancer", she had never been filmed till she was 58 years old, in spite of having a career spanned over four decades. Ray decided to make the film on Bala, "the greatest Bharata Natyam dancer ever" according to him, to document her art for future generations with the "main value as archival".
