- In more than 25 years on the airwaves, Bill Moyers has established a niche unique to TV journalists, becoming the social anthropologist of the USA, the objective eye of why America is what it is and Americans are who they are. He is both the interviewer and chronicler who dares to believe that American TV viewers want to think and learn, to contemplate themselves, their pasts, their times and their futures. Although he has been associated with both CBS and NBC, Moyers has often sought the latitude of the less lucrative PBS and his TV programs--which he has moderated, hosted and usually produced--have focused on subjects ranging from the origins and connection to the song "Amazing Grace" to celebrating poets and poetry, to investigating myths, the Constitution, and even the scriptures. Moyers has spoken to America, but more key--he has listened.

- Having been the first man to hold the gold belt in both the WCW and WWE, professional wrestler Bill Goldberg remained one of sports-entertainment's most popular figures. Born on Dec. 27, 1966 in Tulsa, OK, Goldberg was raised in an observant Jewish home by his father, Jed, a Harvard-educated obstetrician and gynecologist, and his mother, Ethel, a classical violinist. After graduating Tulsa Edison High School in 1985, he was one of the most sought-after recruits for college football, eventually going on to play defensive end at the University of Georgia, where he was named All-Southeastern Conference twice and second team All-American once. By the time he graduated in 1989, Goldberg was seventh all-time on Georgia's career tackle list and sixth on their career sack list. Though he too small by NFL standards, he was nonetheless drafted in the 11th round by the then-Los Angeles Rams, only to find himself consigned to the practice squad for the season. In 1992, he was on the roster with the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he played a total of 14 games over the next three seasons. After being cut by the Falcons, he was selected by the newly-minted Carolina Panthers in the 1995 NFL Expansion Draft, only to suffer an abdominal injury that ended his career for good.

He made a name for himself as a "modern cinema" original by combining a colorful visual style with a knack for layered jokes and subtle blend of high and low humor in films like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961) and "A Shot in the Dark" (1964), and as the creator of the stylish detective series "Peter Gunn" (NBC, 1958-1960, ABC, 1961). A career-long collaboration with composer Henry Mancini's playful compositions became a crucial element in this creative vision. During the 1970s and 1980s, Edwards balanced his ongoing "Pink Panther" releases with more personal, dramatic material that explored the lives of aging artists and society's evolving sexual conventions, best exemplified in his 1979 hit, "10." Only a handful of Edwards' 39 films were hailed with Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, but ongoing creative disputes with studio executives compromised what might have been an even larger body of revered work. Misfires notwithstanding, Edwards earned enormous respect among the film industry and his comedies remained popular for generations.

He distinguished himself to such an extent while a member of the Oklahoma Sooners, that Bosworth was the Seattle Seahawks' number one draft pick. Burr DeBenning
Dec. at 66 (1936-2003)While you may not recognize his name, you'd likely know Burr DeBenning's face, as this character actor has worked on nearly 90 film and television projects over 30 years. Perhaps best remembered as the gilled Aguila on the Robert Wagner science-fiction TV movie, "City Beneath the Sea," DeBenning got his start in television in 1965 with a bit part on the long-running soap opera "Search for Tomorrow." He built his TV career throughout the 1960s, making a splash in 1971 in the Pacifica-set "City Beneath the Sea." A dependable day player, DeBenning made a career of one-off roles, sometimes snagging several in the same series, though he did earn the occasional recurring role, like his nine-episode arc as Ed Thompson on the sun-soaked soap opera "Santa Barbara," which centered on the exploits of the wealthy Capwells. While he was predominantly a TV actor, DeBenning's cult status, from his "City Beneath the Sea" role, sometimes scored him work in genre films like the gruesome science-fiction horror movie "The Incredible Melting Man" and the fifth installment of the Freddy Krueger film series,"A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child." After a long career, DeBenning retired in the early 1990s. The Charlie Wilson tribute helped BET achieve the highest ratings in years for the program and also earned the network the #1 primetime spot in the 18–49 demographic topping all its broadcast and cable competition for the night in both demographics and total viewers. Later that year, Wilson was featured on the single "Bound 2" by Kanye West, however his vocals were uncredited. Little's big break came with a turn in Peter Yates' "John and Mary" (1969), alongside Dustin Hoffman and Mia Farrow. In 1970, he starred on stage in Ossie Davis' musical "Purlie," for which he won a Tony and a Drama Desk Award, and appeared in Davis' landmark black independent film, "Cotton Comes to Harlem." Throughout his career, Little displayed a manic, live wire comic energy and a flamboyant, streetwise style of line delivery.

- A first cousin of storied humorist Will Rogers, Clu Gulager never equaled his well-known relative's fame but instead made his mark as an obscure Method actor. Gulager debuted on television alongside Paul Newman in "Bang the Drum Slowly," a 1956 episode of "The United States Steel Hour" drama anthology adapted from the novel of the same name. The native Oklahoman's early career was spent playing heavies in crime dramas like "The Untouchables" and "The Lawless Years." And while film work led to parts as Lee Marvin's hitman partner in 1964's "The Killers" and as a mechanic in the 1969 Newman racing film "Winning," it would be weekly Westerns that made Gulager a familiar television face. His sympathetic portrayal of Billy the Kid on the 1960 NBC series "The Tall Man" led to his being a series regular on "Whispering Smith" and eventually playing Emmett Ryker through 103 episodes of 1963's "The Virginian." He took a brief stab at moviemaking as the writer/director/producer of the 1969 short film "A Day With the Boys" (which earned him a Cannes Film Festival award nomination), but Gulager's most notable subsequent movie role was in "The Last Picture Show." Most of his 1970s working was in guest shots on numerous television crime dramas. He enjoyed a brief comeback in the 1985 cult horror film "The Return of the Living Dead" and by the 2000s, Clu Gulager was playing a supporting role in son John Gulager's "Feast" film series. Clu Gulager died on August 5, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 93.

- Coleman C. Francis (January 24, 1919 – January 15, 1973) was an American actor, writer, producer and director. He was best known for his film trilogy consisting of The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961), The Skydivers (1963) and Red Zone Cuba (1966), all three of which were filmed in the general vicinity of Santa Clarita, California. Hallmarks of Francis' films include preoccupation with light aircraft and parachuting, coffee or cigarettes serving as props or centers of conversation and vigilante-style gunning down of suspects without trial at the films' conclusions. Francis and his films have gained a cult status as a result of their appearances on the comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000, where they became infamous for their poor production values, repetitive plot devices, meandering storylines, and stilted acting. Some critics have characterized Francis as being the worst director of all-time, even suggesting that he may surpass Ed Wood in terms of ineptitude.

- How you know Danny Cooksey is in part a function of your age. If you're a member of Generation X, you may know him best from his days as a child star playing Sam McKinney on "Diff'rent Strokes," the TV sitcom about a wealthy white family that adopts two black children. If you're a member of Generation Y, you may know Cooksey best from his brief but memorable role as the punk rocker friend of young John Connor (Edward Furlong) in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." As the long-haired Tim, Cooksey had the rare distinction of tangling with the T-1000 and surviving. (Indeed, compared to the fates of most other characters who got in the more advanced Terminator's way, getting shoved to the floor was a relatively mild experience.) Cooksey played less dangerous roles on shows like "Salute Your Shorts," a comedy about the adventures of kids at summer camp. He has also lent his voice to a variety of animated TV series, most notably that of the Urchin on "The Little Mermaid."
