Description:  Standing at the loading platform in Oklahoma City, OK, is Frisco #2012 built by EMD in February of 1950. Note that these units were built with the Mars oscillating light above the nose door mounted headlight. One source mentioned that the Mars white light was also equipped with a red emergency brake light as well. No photographer listed for this photo.

Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK February 1974 -- Santa Fe U30CG 8004 hauls a mixed freight under Interstate 35 on its westward trek (compass south) to Texas. EMD built the unit as passenger locomotive ATSF 404 and delivered it in Nov 1967. It was derated to freight service in April 1969. In the 1969-70 general renumbering it became ATSF 8004. It received freight paint in 1973, was retired Sept 22 1980 and traded to GE for the B36-7 series. (Roster information from atsfrr.net)

Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK January 1975 -- In this undated photo ATSF F7A 275L gleams in the sun while pausing at Nowers Yard. EMD built the unit in November 1953, Santa Fe‚Äôs Cleburne shops rebuilt it into CF7 2417 in March 1978. It was retired Sept 20 1984 and sold to Rail Systems in November 1984. Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Mar 23 1975 -- Engineer Wayne Rector has brought Amtrak SDP40F 502 to a halt in Oklahoma City and passengers are debarkig and boarding. The lefthand skyscraper is the First National Bank building while at right is the LIberty Bank Tower. Amtrak discontinued this train and both banks were closed by the federal government. The Petroleum Club on top of the First National building was a well-known restaurant with a great view.

Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK Mar 23 1975 -- Engineer Wayne Rector (right) and Fireman Johnny Goff pose with their office on wheels. The two are part of the short pool which operated from Arkansas City KS to Purcell OK. Wayne and Johnny were good friends of the Norman OK railfan group. We even met them for dinner at a restauranti in Purcell after they brought in in the southbound train. The next day they would board the northbound for their return to Ark City. If they saw one of us out taking pictures they would wrap train orders around a flare and throw them to us.

Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK October 1975 -- In this undated photo Rock Island GP40 355 makes its way through Harter Yard while a switcher works a cut of cars. EMD built the 355 in September 1966. On April 13 1980, upon the Rock Island shutdown, it gained the number UP 615 but did not receive UP paint until May 8 1989. On April 25 1985 it became Missouri Pacific 615. It was retired Aug 10 1987. On Oct 28 1987 it was sold to Morrison Knudsen, rebuilt as a GP40FH-2. M-K completed it Sept 1 1988 and it went Metro North Commuter Rail as MNCR 4187. Description:  OKLAHOMA CITY OK October 1975 -- Vandals broke a switch lock, through the switch and tampered with the switch signal to show the wrong aspect. The result was that Rock Island 384 left the main track and came to rest at the end of this warehouse spur. The train was westbound on the westside of the city. I don’t recall if anyone was injured in this incident. EMD built the unit January 1969. In 1981 New Jersey Transit acquired it as NJTR 4138. In December 1987 Morrison-Knudsen rebuilt it into a GP40FH-2. Included in the rebuild was a cowl hood from F45 BN 6639.
