Except for the NYSW unit leading. Even a year into the CP operation of the D&H, NYSW power still showed up on a variety of trains that were not the normal stack train run throughs from Jersey to Buffalo. Here we have one of the B 40s leading 309 with three more units and 42 cars, coming througn BX into East Binghamton from Mechanicville. There are two notable units in the consist. PLM 3041 is one of the EMD 645 engine test bed units, and trailing is one of the few RS 36's legt on the roster, 5023. |

Earlier this year, I shot BUOI here in a spring scene with the forsythia in bloom, and the green trees still short. Theyre getting bigger, now starting to obscure the train. In a couple of years, theyll make a photo here impossible. A GATX leader has what looks like is an 892 coal train. Note the PLM unit. It is in an SD45 carbody, and was one of the EMD test bed units for the 645 engine in the 1960's. |

The 1990s and into the new millenium was+an interesting time for motive power on the CP. They acquired a lot of second hand power and rebuilt some units. This 271 at Belden tunnel is a case in point. The leader?? Used. CP never had any SD45s. The second unit is a rebuilt GP 9, the third unit is an ex MP SD40-2 that was originally one of their general service units and di not have dynamic brakes. CP added them while whey were on lease from GATX, then bought them. The white SD40-2 is ex KCS. Quite a mix |
