YU ROCK FROM SIXTIES

      BIJELE   STRIJELE  was formed in 1961, in Zagreb, Croatia. In the beginning they played covers of Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Beatles and later they made their own songs. They were one of the first bands in ex-Yugoslavia who had their own songs, and that made them very popular. Their EP record "Svi trče oko Sue" was the first beat record released in ex-Yugoslavia. They split in 1966 because they couldn't adapt to new changes in music which came together with long hair bands. The style of Bijele strijele was mix of beat with early rock'n'roll and twist. Their sound was raw with great teenage vocals. They had two guitar players and two singers, and of course bass and drums. And that made their sound a bit different from their english and american idols. (from wanadoo.nl)

      LADO   LESKOVAR  is Slovenian pop singer from Ljubljana. He was very popular during the sixties and seventies in former Yugoslavia. This is his second EP from 1966.

      This is  LADO   LESKOVAR  cover version of The Rolling Stones song "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" from 1967.

      BELE   ZVEZDE  were a rock band from Beograd (Serbia) in former Yugoslavia. This is their only one song from 1967.

      EXO DUSI  was a rock band from Herceg Novi (Montenegro) in former Yugoslavia. This is their song from 1968.

  ČIČ AK  was a rock band from Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in former Yugoslavia. Members of the band were Mahmud Ferović (guitar), Zoran Redžić (bass), Dragan Danilović (guitar), Ranko Rihtman (keyboards) and Milić Vukašinović (drums).       MILAN   FERLEŽ  was Slovenian guitarist and composer. He died in 2006. This is his cover version of traditional song "The House Of The Rising Sun" from 1967.

      DUO   SPEVEC  was vocal duo from Zagreb (Croatia) in former Yugoslavia, sister and brother, Biserka i Ivica Spevec.This is their covers of Roy Orbison song "Oh, Pretty Woman" and Paul & Paula song "Hey, Paula".

      BISERKA   SPEVEC  was a Slovenian pop singer from Ljubljana. These are her most popular songs from 1967-1968.

      BIS ERI  were formed in 1965, in Zagreb (Croatia, ex-Yugoslavia). Band founded by Vladimir Koćiš-Zec (guitar & vocal), Boris Bregović (guitar), Vladimir Hlady (bass guitar) & Mišo Perić (drums). In 1969 they had a big hit "Anuška".

      VANJA   STOJKOVIĆ  is a female pop singer from Subotica (Serbia) in former Yugoslavia. These are her most popular songs from 1965-1969.

  LOT OSI   was a rock band from Županja (Croatia) in former Yugoslavia. They recorded only one song (cover of The Shadows "Apache") in 1963.

      ALBA TROSI  was a rock band from Ljubljana (Slovenia) in former Yugoslavia. They recorded only one song (cover of The Shadows "Driftin'") in 1965.

      NOVI   AKORDI   was a rock band from Novi Sad (Serbia) in former Yugoslavia. These are their two songs recorded for Radio Novi Sad in 1969.

      DIO LENI  was a rock band from Zaprešić-Zagreb (Croatia) in former Yugoslavia. They have only one song (cover of The Shadows "Midnight") recorded in 1966.

  DUGE were a rock group from Kreka-Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in former Yugoslavia. This is their only demo recording from 1968.

    GRUPA   BRAVO  was from Beograd (Serbia). They recorded a cover of the song "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees for the Television show "Koncert za ludi mladi svet" in 1967.

  GRUPA   MI  formed in 1966, in Šibenik, Croatia (ex-Yugoslavia) from members of two teenage bands 'Magneti' and 'Mjesečari'. Going to college next year in Zagreb, they gain the reputation of great R&B and soul band, and through the next years they secure their lead position on dance floors and concerts throughout Croatia. After consecutive engagements in Zagreb Student centre at the end of the 60's, popular band from Šibenik gained the cult status of a favorite group with a dalmatian and american southern accent. The lead singer Neven Mijat was the one to contribute that. It is his voice that defined the genre and repertoar of the band (Ray Charles, James Brown, Otis Redding). Still, one of the biggest hits of the band was the song ''Bam Bam Ba Ba Lu Bam'', whose author is Neven Mijat. Grupa Mi stopped with active engagements on stage in 1972., but in 2001., in front of Šibenik's City Hall, they again played the unforgettable concert named
