The first half of a lunation is shown in these thumbnail images (click to download higher-resolution images), all obtained with a Meade 10" LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and an Olympus Camedia 1400L. Besides the modifications on shadows located near the terminator, the progression of lunar ray brightness is also obvious. Can you notice the different tints that characterize the various regions of the Moon? For more details see the "Astrophotography with Digital Cameras" section of this page.
Selected high-magnification fields-of-view of the moon's surface are shown in the above thumbnail images (click to download higher-resolution images), all obtained with a Meade 10" LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and a SBIG's ST-5C refrigerated CCD camera. For more details about the camera and my observatory visit the "Site and Equipment" section of this page. For a more extensive coverage of lunar formations go to the MOON-"Light" Atlas section of this page.
