Electronic Telegram No. 5435 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Mailing address: Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network (761) BRENDELIA M. Colazo, Poznan Astronomical Observatory; C. Colazo, Cordoba, Argentina; V. Amelotti, Alta Gracia, Argentina; R. Melia, Carlos Paz, Argentina; N. Suarez, Pilar, Argentina; F. Santos, Piconcillo, Spain; B. Monteleone and G. Ciancia, Reggio Calabria, Italy; A. Wilberger, Santa Rosa de La Pampa, Argentina; M. Morales, Mallorca, Spain; and M. Anzola, Cordoba, report that photometric observations taken with a 250-mm telescope at Alta Gracia, a 254-mm telescope at Carlos Paz, a 254-mm telescope at Pilar, a 203-mm telescope at Piconcillo, 250- and 400-mm telescopes at Reggio Calabria, a 200-mm telescope at Santa Rosa de La Pampa, a 250-mm telescope at Mallorca, and a 150-mm telescope at Cordoba during 2024 July 24-Aug. 5 reveal that minor planet (761) is a binary system with an orbital period of 57.079 +/- 0.016 hr. Mutual eclipse/occultation events that are 0.6- to 0.8-magnitude deep suggest that both components are of similar sizes. This configuration also suggests that the pair has reached tidal coupling, which would explain why their rotation periods are both 58 hours. Eclipses are occurring every 29 hours. To date, the group has observed five eclipses. NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
