...Blizzard conditions continue across the Central Rockies/Plains
as a powerful surface low spins in central Kansas...
Blizzard Warnings are in effect for parts of the North/Central
Plains, Central Rockies, and Upper Midwest.
High Wind Warnings are in effect from the Southern Plains to the
Southern/Central Rockies.
Flood and Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for the Central
Plains, Middle Mississippi Valley, and Great Lakes.

At 900 PM CDT...A strong low pressure system with an estimated
central pressure of 975 mb was located over north-central Kansas
and was moving northeastward. An occluded front extended eastward
across the Central Plains and into a triple point over southern
Illinois, with a stationary front extending southward across Lower
Mississippi Valley and southeastern Texas. A warm front extended
southeastward from the triple point across the Tennessee Valley
and Southeast. National Weather Service radars and surface
observations indicated moderate to heavy snowfall with blizzard
conditions in some places across the Northern/Central Plains and
Central Rockies. Moderate to heavy rainfall spread into the
Mississippi Valley with some thunderstorm activity reported in the
Lower Mississippi Valley. High winds gusting near 80 mph were
observed near Goodland, Kansas.

The surface low will move northeastward across the Central Great
Plains and Middle Mississippi Valley before arriving in the Great
Lakes by Thursday night. Snowfall totals between 6 and 12 inches
are expected across the Northern and Central Plains through
Friday. Wind gusts will be in the 30-50 mph range overnight
Wednesday across much of the Plains.
