The surface low along the coast will track north across northern
Maine into New Brunswick and eastern Quebec on Wednesday. Snow
will continue to fall north and west of the low, with an
additional 2 to 4 inches of snow forecast for northern New England
on Wednesday. Snow showers are also possible farther south as the
second cold front pushes east into the Mid-Atlantic and the
remainder of the Northeast. As very cold air continues to move
across the Great Lakes, heavy lake effect snow is expected to
continue across potions of the region through Thursday. Additional
snowfall accumulations of up to 12 to 18 inches are possible
downwind of the lakes, with areas east of Lake Ontario expected to
see some of the highest totals. Extremely cold wind chills of 40
to 60 below 0 are expected to remain across the Midwest and Ohio
Valley through Thursday. Record low temperatures will spread
eastward into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Wednesday night
and Thursday as well, with wind chills of 10 to 30 degrees below
0.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 PM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
