...Rain and mountin snow continue to impact California before
conditions subside...
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the San Gabriel Mountains,
San Bernadino Mountains, Sierra Nevada Range, portions of
west-central Nevada, and east-central Idaho.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of
east-Central Nevada, north-central Arizona, central Utah, and
eastern Idaho.
Flash Flood Watches are in effect for portions of southern
California.
Avalanche Warnings are in effect for locations downhill of the
Sierra Nevada range.

At 400 AM PST...An elongated area of low pressure was analyzed
over central Nevada, near 39.1N 117.7W, with an estimated pressure
of 1003 mb, or 29.62 inches of mercury. An occluded frontal
boundary extended south through Death Valley, with a trailing cold
front arcing into Baja California. National Weather Service
Doppler Radar observed moderate to locally heavy rain along the
southern California coast and inland valleys, and moderate snow in
the Sierra Nevada. Additional light to moderate snowfall was
detected in central Nevada and southern Idaho as the frontal
system moves east.

Moderate to locally heavy snow will continue to impact the Sierra
Nevada, San Bernadino, and San Gabriel ranges through Saturday,
with 6-12 inches likely. As the frontal systen progresses east
through today, additional moderate to heavy snowfall accumulations
of 6-12 inches is forecast to blanket the Innermountain West and
Southwest. Meanwhile, a lingering heavy rain threat remains across
Southern California, where a Marginal Risk of Excessive Rainfall
is in effect through 4 AM PST.
