Tropical Depression Ida
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
1100 PM EDT Tue Aug 31 2021
...Heavy rain and gusty winds continue over portions of the
Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, Appalachians, and Mid-Atlantic as
Tropical Depression Ida tracks northeastward over Tennessee...
A Tornado Watch is in effect along the Appalachians through
western Virginia and extreme northern North Carolina.
Flash Flood Watches are in effect for portions of the Southeast,
Tennessee Valley, Ohio Valley, southern and central Appalachians,
Mid-Atlantic, and southern New England.
Flood Warnings are in effect for areas along the Central Gulf
Coast as well as for portions of rivers throughout eastern
Mississippi and western Alabama.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 1000 PM EDT...Tropical Depression Ida was analyzed over
East-Central Tennessee at 35.8 N, 85.5 W, with an estimated
forward motion of 17 knots at 60 degrees. National Weather Service
Doppler RADAR detected widespread moderate to heavy rain occurring
with Tropical Depression Ida over the Ohio Valley, Tennessee
Valley, Appalachians, Piedmont, and Florida Panhandle. Below are
preliminary rainfall and wind observations associated with
Tropical Depression Ida. Due to power outages and damage in
southeastern Louisiana where Ida made landfall, some stations may
not be reporting rainfall observations. Additionally, strong winds
from Ida may have led to under-reporting of rainfall in this area.
For more information regarding the location and track of Tropical
Depression Ida, please refer to www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov.
