Storm
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
1000 PM CDT Sat Apr 01 2023
...Strong winds ongoing throughout the East Coast, as
precipitation moves offshore...
High Wind Warnings are in effect for eastern West Virginia, the
Central Appalachians, and southern Pennsylvania.
Wind Advisories are in effect for the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and
Northeast.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 900 PM CDT...A strong low-pressure system with a minimum
central pressure of 987 mb or 29.14 inHg was located over
southeastern Quebec, with an occluded boundary stretching south to
a triple point low in southern New Hampshire. A cold front
extended southwestward along nearly the entire Eastern Seaboard,
while a warm front stretched eastward along the Maine coastline
into the Atlantic. The latest RADAR and surface observations
depicted clearing conditions across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic
as the last batch of moderate to heavy rainfall associated with
the system exits into the Atlantic. In the wake of the cold front
passage, strong synoptic winds in excess of 50-65mph were reported
across much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, as a colder and
drier airmass filtered in from the west.
