...Strong atmospheric river producing life threatening heavy rain,
flash flooding, mountain snow, and high winds across California...
Flood Watches are in effect across much of Southern California and
now into western Arizona.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect atop the California Sierra
Nevada.

At 600 PM PST...Radar and surface observations observed a cold
front traversing through interior portions of Southwest.
Intermittent clusters of moderate rain are pivoting around a broad
surface trough off the Pacific waters into inland Souhtern
California, and a more persistent batch of moderate rain is
located along a cold front entering Arizona. Gusty winds were also
ongoing across much of California and now moving westward into
Arizona in conjunction with the cold front passage.

Batches of moderate rain will continue through Tuesday night for
much of Southern California.Local NWS offices in the area are
messaging up to an additional 0.75-1.5 inches of rainfall in
coastal areas, while mountainous areas may see up to 1-3". A
couple inches of more snowfall may be possible in higher
elevations across California and may bring whiteout conditions
above 5000 feet. Lighter rain showers may continue through
Wednesday, however, with a persistent moist onshore flow.The
threat for locally catastrophic flash and urban flooding impacts
will persist across Los Angeles for the next 12 hours.
