Summertime Birthdays Can Be So Cool!

The Woodware team are celebrating summertime birthdays this week. Since my own birthday is the 24th of June, I qualify. I never liked having a summer birthday growing up, as school was over, leaving me with no chance to treat my class to cupcakes, or to feel like a "big deal" to my classmates. On the other hand, our family vacations were usually right after school was out in June, so my birthday was celebrated on one of our holidays. On one of these, we met up with both sets of grandparents in Montana. My grandmother on my father's side somehow had baked me a chocolate cake, but there were no candles for the top. So my Gran (mother's side) used pink nail polish to paint some matches to stick on top of the cake. I had to blow them out really quick! It was one of my best birthday memories!

Now that I've reminisced, I'll share with you this sweet House Mouse Designs' card that is perfect for a summertime birthday. No chocolate cake here, but there is plenty of icy cold ice cream to be shared! The image is the House Mouse Ice Cream Kitty, and has been colored with markers in yummy sherbet colors, that also happen to match some very bright tags and cording.

For the fun of it, I placed the card in a translucent envelope so that the recipient gets a "sneak peek" at their lovely card. I happened to have the envelope on hand, but you can easily create your own with the Artemio Envelope Template and Vellum Paper.

Yummy! I just had to add a few ice cream drips off the mouse, because...hey! Ice cream can be messy, especially in the summer! I added a very simple sentiment from the Stampendous Birthday Assortment clear stamps on a small part of tag for a unique styling to this card.

Be sure to check the Woodware Witterings blog each day this week for more summertime fun!

Stampendous and Whisker Graphics...the Cat that Got the Cream

STM_WG_banner_2

In preparation for the Stampendous April 2016 catalog, Whisker Graphics was kind enough to send each of our team members a wonderful package of product to stamp and/or stencil on, to package things in, and to tie it all up with yummy baker's twine. With all the fabulous inspiration that we will be sharing from both design teams we thought some of you would like to play along with these great products too, so there are PRIZES! Just comment along the hops each day and leave a thoughtful comment for the designers. Winners will be announced Monday, May 9th.

This fun card fits perfectly inside one of the larger Glassine Bitty Bags for a sheer hint of the fun inside!

For my project today, I've used several of their yummy, sherbet-colored tags, and made sure to incorporate them in my Copic-coloring of the House Mouse Designs® "Ice Cream Kitty" image.

The image was cut into three sections, each being adhered onto a colorful tag before being adhered to my card (MyColorsCardstock by MME).

One more tag was cut to fit, and stamped with a sentiment to rock this ice cream party theme. All of the holes on the tags were decorated with the solid and striped bright green twine that Whisker Graphics is known for.

Are You Passionate About Coloring?

We are having a busy week on the Stampendous team! In addition to our hop with Nathalie Kalbach's new designs for Stampendous, we are sharing some of our favorite colored House Mouse Designs® critters as well. If you've never checked out the Passionate Paper Creations and Friends page on Facebook, I highly recommend that you do so immediately! So much inspiration for coloring your favorite images with your favorite mediums. Here's one of my favorites...

This image called "Bouncing Bunnies" always reminds me of the children's song about monkeys jumping on the bed. They look like they are having a wonderful time, and you know that MOM will not be happy when she catches them in the act, but meanwhile...

I've colored this image with Copic Sketch Markers, and I'd love to share the colors that I've used, but that would require more organization than I seem to handle lately.

For the background of this card, I've used the Dreamweaver I Beam stencil from Stampendous to machine emboss a deep mint cardstock panel. The card itself was created with pre-embossed patterned cardstock from Bazzill which I've sanded to reveal the pattern. I love the sentiment that I added, 'cuz you know these bunnies will remember this day forever!

Under the Sea? With Graphic45 and Stampendous!

STM_G45_banner

All of this week, in addition to introducing our new designs from the April catalog, we are also showing off projects where Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath the Sea collection has been part of the inspiration. And yes, there are prize opportunities by visiting and commenting on all of our team's blogs this week. All the info can be found on the Stampendous Impressions blog. Here's what I'm sharing for today...

Though maybe not "beneath the sea", this card has a fish, and is under water. And though it may only have a small strip of the Graphic 45 paper, it was the perfect addition to this design as it brings out the color of the goldfish, and the fan/shell pattern mimics the scales and tails of our fishy friend below.

Just adhering my colored (Copic Sketch Markers) House Mouse Designs® "Fishy Kiss" to the card would be fine, but I really wanted to give it a bit more of the "fish bowl" look. So I CASEd a technique from my good buddy, Louise Healy, as shown in this post HERE. Using the new Stampendous Fitted Frames "A" set, I placed three nested sizes of frames together (taping them with removable tape helps keep them together), and cut out the sections highlighting the fish and the mouse lips (do mice have lips?). When adhering them to my card, each section used thin strips of foam tape in graduated thicknesses or layers, with the center coming out the most. Btw, using the same Fitted Frames set, I die cut the long strip of the Graphic 45 paper, stamped the cute sentiment from the Perfectly Clear House Mouse Designs® "Hoppy Wishes" at the top, to raise higher than the top of the card.

Just in case you're not ready to come up for air, here are the links for more fun "beneath the sea":

Sprinkles of House Mouse Designs® with Friends

This week and next, we're having a different kind of blog hop, including friends on the other side of the world and across the pond. this will include the Woodware UK team, the Stencil Specialists in Australia, the House Mouse and Friends team, and of course...the Stampendous team. All of us will be playing along with the team on the House Mouse and Friends Blog. Everyone will be challenged to use a stencil with their House Mouse Designs® by Stampendous. What makes this hop really different is, in order to win one of the amazing prize packages available, YOU need to play along with the challenge as well! Just submit your own creations HERE using the Linky tool for the HMFMC #215 challenge. There will be three prize packages available, each including ONE House Mouse Designs® Cling Rubber Stamp, plus ONE Large Dreamweaver stencil, and ONE jar of Dreamweaver Embossing Paste.

Here is what I've created for this challenge...

Did you ever think you'd have an opportunity to break out your Stampendous Creative Palette* to use along with House Mouse Designs®*? I did just that to create this card featuring the Cling "Rain Flower"* stamp image. Various shades of neon re-inkers were dropped onto a slightly wet Creative Palette* before using a brayer to blend the colors slightly. Panels of Mixed Media White* cardstock were placed over the wet ink, and swirled a bit, transferring the ink to the panels. (Keep wetting the ink a bit with water to get more panels until you've run out of ink. This makes it easier to clean your CP, plus provide you with cool backgrounds for future use.) On this particular panel, I sprinkled the wet ink in patches with Stampendous' "Spoonful of Confetti" Essentials mix*, and heated until melted and shimmery.

The little cutie was stamped in black ink, and colored with markers in bright colors.

Follow the link list below for more inspiration. We'd love for you to leave comments as you go, but that will NOT be how you could win a prize. You must link your creations following the House Mouse and Friends Blog stipulations! Oh, I forgot to mention, EVERYONE is eligible to win!

*Items with an asterisk can be purchased online at Stampendous, or through stores listed HERE in the USA, or through the Stencil Specialists in Australia HERE. Links in blog post are for those shopping through Woodware UK's Stockists.

"So Big" with House Mouse and Friends Challenge and Dreamweaver by Stampendous

Has the House Mouse and Friends hop "measured up" these last two weeks? We hope so! How about this darling House Mouse Designs® Cling "Measuring Up" image, stamped in black Memento ink, and colored with Copic Sketch markers? The colored image has been die cut with the Dreamweaver Nested Frames die set, and inked around the edges. A sentiment from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear House Mouse Designs® "Hoppy Moments" set.

The background was created using the Dreamweaver I Beams stencil machine-embossed on the Core'dinations' Chalk Core cardstock in the soft golden color. I used a sanding block to reveal the color from the embossed surface. The completed panel was adhered to a kraft card along with the focal panel. A couple strips of "measuring tape" trim was adhered to mimic the ruler in the image.

House Mouse Designs® with Friends Across the "Pond"

This week and next, we're having a different kind of blog hop, including friends on the other side of the world and across the pond. this will include the Woodware UK team, the Stencil Specialists in Australia, the House Mouse and Friends team, and of course...the Stampendous team. Here is what I've created for this challenge...

Those rascally mice are at it again! This time they're stealing all of the cookies in a well-executed plan of thievery in the House Mouse Designs® "Cling Cookie Bandits"*. Somewhere, I'm sure, is a wanted bulletin, because who wouldn't want these critters?

The image has been stamped in black ink, and colored with markers, and in an attempt to mimic the green of depression glass, the jar has been colored and shaded in greens, brushed over the surface with Translucent Embossing Paste*, and is casting a reflection through the "glass" onto the delightful wallpaper. The wallpaper has been achieved by masking off the image before placing the Dreamweaver Pattern Background* stencil over the panel, and ink-stenciling in brown using a large stencil brush. Sprinkles of Stampendous "Spoonful of Rust"* were added to the completed card and heated to "encrust" them all together, suggesting a mess of cookie crumbs left behind with footprints to be collected as evidence by the crime lab.

Please note...my post will go live on Saturday, April 2nd, for the Woodware Witterings blog; but the rest on this list will not go live until Monday, April 4th.

Resting with House Mouse and Friends with a Touch of Dreamweaver

This week and next, we're having a different kind of blog hop, including friends on the other side of the world and across the pond. this will include the Woodware UK team, the Stencil Specialists in Australia, the House Mouse and Friends team, and of course...the Stampendous team. Here is what I've created for this challenge...

Featuring the Cling House Mouse Designs® "Sunflower Smile", which I've stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on kraft cardstock and colored with Copic Markers, this card is full of warm fuzzies.

I've ink-stenciled a portion of the Dreamweaver Honeycomb design in the backgrouond, and added the sweet Cling Moment's Rest sentiment. The focal panel has been layered on green cardstock, and adhered onto a card created from Canvas Corp dotted cardstock, embellished with a strip of May Arts web ribbon, and sprinkles of Stampendous Color Fragments in Caramel.

Sing Joyfully with House Mouse Designs

These two wonders of the season are singing and playing their hearts out in celebration of the Lord, just as the Stampendous team have been doing all this week.

This darling House Mouse Designs® Joyful Noise was stamped in black Memento ink, and colored with Copic Sketch Markers. Beacon Adhesives' Tacky Glue was brushed over the robe and wings of our little "angel", and a bit on the berries before sprinkling with Micro Crystal Glitter. The sentiment from Joyful Phrases was stamped on the panel before matting it in blue, and adhering it to the red card base and the white glitter cardstock panel.

Check out the sweet inspiration from these ladies...

A Carousel of Fun for the Holidays!

l
Feel like you're going round and round and getting nowhere this holiday season? Little Monica Mouse doesn't mind that at all! She's on her favorite steed, the House Mouse Designs® Carousel Ornament, which has been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Chameleon Markers. For an old-fashioned feel, all parts of the card have been stamped with the crackle image from Andy Skinner's Industrial Set by Stampendous, using Rich Cocoa Memento ink. A frame has been die-cut from the Dreamweaver Nested Frames set, and popped up with foam tape. Finally, a strip of kraft cardstock that matches with the card base, was stamped with one of the adorable House Mouse "Berry Mice" Sentiments.

Christmas Party Animals!

It's hard to keep a sense of proper decorum with these party animals! The House Mouse Designs® Christmas Characters are preparing for the holiday performance, but one of them has "eyes" only for playing around. The image was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with Copic Sketch Markers. With the application of a glue marker, sprinkles of Micro glitter were added to the leaves and berries.

A strip of Double-sided Mounting Paper was used to create a double-glitter technique strip of the Dreamweaver Graduated Dot Stencil. Another panel of the DSMP was covered in green Micro Glitter, and die cut using the Dreamweaver Holly and Berries Die. Red crystals were added as berries before adhering to the card.

A Smoochy Celebration

No traditional Christmas celebration is complete without smooching under the mistletoe, and it's obvious that these cute mice agree. With a bit of conspiracy, there will be smooches all around! Featuring the House Mouse Designs® Mistletoe Mice, stamped in black Memento ink, and colored with Copic Sketch Markers, the focal point could almost steal the show on this card, but the background is a pretty-in-pink accompaniment. The panel of Bazzill Basics cardstock was placed inside the Dreamweaver Christmas Borders Embossing Folder, and run through my embossing machine. A pink VersaColor inkpad was swiped over the surface to highlight the designs. A bit of lace, a couple of blue crystals, tinsel trim, and a bow complete the cute factor.

Stampendous and Patty PopOns...Creating Magic from Puzzle Pieces

The Stampendous team is playing with Patty PopOns Puzzle Pieces all of this week, in a challenge to put a new spin on an originally child-oriented product. And we are up for the challenge! Lol. I have to admit, these foam puzzle pieces stumped me a bit in the beginning, but I'm loving the end result. A bit "childlike", but not at all "childish".

I had this wood banner/plaque that I'd purchased from a "big box store". Originally, the hanger was stapled on the back to hang horizontally, not vertically. So I pulled it loose on one side, brushed it with white paint, and stapled it to hang vertically.

I also gave it a few light washes of paint, using Ranger Distress Paints (Cracked Pistachio, Weathered Wood, and Picket Fence). I stamped the Stampendous Cling Delicate Snow set in Versamark ink randomly over the plaque, and embossed them in the new Stampendous Sparkle Puff embossing powder.
While the Sparkle Puff and Versamark were out, I used them to cover my three PopOns pieces in sparkly white textural goodness. I only wish you could see the end result...sooooo much sparkle! I noticed as I heated the embossing powder, that the foam puzzle pieces tended to curve a bit, which was perfect for what I wanted! Each piece was also stamped with the snowflake designs using Black VersaCraft ink, and heated slightly to set the ink. I tried other inks on a sample piece, but none would be crisp and dark enough over the embossed base. The fact that the pieces were curved presented a challenge for adhering them to the board. I didn't want to flatten them. So I broke out my favorite glue for projects like this...Quick Grip by Beacon Adhesives! I only needed to add a small dab where each piece would touch the board and/or each
other. Instant perfection!

I found some of these Chip Chatter chipboard letters, and spelled the word "SNOW". Each was painted in the same wash of colors. Micro teal glitter was sprinkled over the wet paint, and a light spray of cheap hairspray set it so that it couldn't be wiped off. Each of the letters was adhered with Quick Grip as well, as I knew that the self-adhesive pieces on the back of the letters would not adhere over the Sparkle Puff embossed pieces.
For a bit of fun, I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento, and colored with Copics, the House Mouse Designs® Sledding Santa. I dabbed Dreamweaver Regular Embossing Paste for snow at the base, and sprinkled it with Fran•tagé Spoonful of Snow, a wonderful combination of various sizes of crystal glitter, white embossing powder, and Shaved Ice. Once again, I only wish you could see how much sparkle achieved! Obviously, it was necessary to heat this, which caused it to puff up even more, and heating the Shaved Ice produces a gorgeous iridescence.
The image was cut out, and adhered to the PopOns with Quick Grip again, adding his flying knit cap to the "O" on the design. The end result is sparkly, sweet, light weight for shipping, and a wonderful bit of decor for the whole magical winter season.
