About Me

My photo
Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom
I have been crafting since May 2008, when in desperation to find an unusual birthday card for my Mum, I gave up looking in the shops and decided to have a go at making my own. I soon realised that crafting is addictive and I haven't brought a card since. In 2011 I completed my certificate in papercrafting as a result of the work I did as part of the course I started entering challenges on line and in magazines. I applied for design teams and also started making samples for Ooh La La Creations for their shows on Create and Craft. I have now completed my Diploma in professional crafting and most recently been runner up in the Papercrafter of the Year 2013 a competition run by Papercraft essentials magazine, I don't have a particular style I like to use elements from lots of styles and techniques, although I do love all things vintage. In 2014 I started to move more towards scrapbooking to take care of the huge family archive of photographs that were stored in my attic. I have continued cardmaking and Scrapbooking through 2015 and 2016 but have also become interested in off the page projects. I hope to be able focus on these in the future.

Boys to Men at Fab n Funky

Good morning and thank you for all your beautiful animal creations for last weeks challenge you can find out if you are a winner over at the blog at Fab n Funky.

This week our challenge is

Boys to Men
(male themed designs for young or old)

We are once again sponsored by

I chose to work with her image called Charlie Fishing.

I used an 8x8 Kraft card base for the design. I coloured Charlie with coloured pencils using a paper stump to blend the colours and adding a layer of glossy accents over the water to give a glossy finish. I cut the image out using an x-cut label die and then matted it onto pale green and deep burgundy card, from American Crafts.

The papers are from an Ooh La La CD - Yesterday's Memories and these were also mounted onto green and burgundy card. I created a 'Willow Tree' for Charlie to sit under using a Tattered Lace die and green and burgundy card. I also coloured the Gone Fishing sentiment with coloured pencils and mounted it onto scraps of card and added die cut Bulrushes in front.

I tucked a bit of net bag which once contained fresh tomatoes behind the image.

As a finishing touch I added a fishing bag rod, hat and a feather fly that I made myself from some feathers in my stash.

Heat Stroke at Fab n Funky

Hello, Firstly thank you to everyone who entered our Christmas Challenge last week. There were as always some gorgeous cards. To see if you are a winner check out the blog at Fab n Funky Challenges..

Our theme this week is ....

Heat Stroke
That can be Summer themed, or hot colours We are sponsored this week by

The sponsor images were snapped up by the team Funky girls for this one as it was their turn this week, and you can see their fabulous designs over on the blog. I decided because although a team Fab girl myself I still wanted to join in with this Funky challenge so I used an image called Lizzie from Stamp Art by Kathryne, which I already had in my stash.

I decided to use paper piecing on the card and went for a central stepper card fold. I used My Craft Studio to print a piece of card with the yellow and blue spotted papers and the stripy paper into 3 of the four quadrants of a piece of white A4 card leaving the fourth quadrant plain white. I then sized the image to fit one of the quadrants and used the copy and past function to place an image into each of the four quadrants and then used the card that I had already printed and ran it through the computer a second time

I was then able to fussy cut the parts of the image from each of the three on the patterned sections of the card. I coloured Lizzie and her towel using Promarkers,
Skin - Ivory, Satin Dusky pink
Hair - Spice, Honeycomb and Cinnamon
Towel - Sky Blue, Cyan, Yellow, Sunflower Bright Orange and Honeycomb

Once Coloured I added the patterned sections of card to the parasol and her bikini and then fussy cut the whole image and mounted her on a die cut circle. I used yellow card mounted on black to give the effect of the sun and then used the patterned papers I used in the paper piecing mounted on black card to mat and layer on the card blank.

I added two computer generated sentiments to finish.

As always we were given some wonderful digis to work with and I have used Using Alannah by  StampArt Design by Kathryne

This card is destined for our gorgeous grand daughter Chloe Ann and whilst she is a bit of a tomboy she also loves pink and glittery.

I used an 8x8 card blank and covered this with a piece of centura pearl card stock which had been wrapped in ribbon - it doesn't show up too well in the photograph but the ribbon is silver with little snowflakes printed on it.

I coloured the image using Spectrum Noirs and Promarkers

Hair Specturm Noir  FS2, TN1, GB,2, GB3, GB6
Skin  Spectrum Noir FS1, FS2,TN1 FS8
Eyes - Pro marker Cyan
Coat and trousers - Spectrum Noir PP1, PP2, PP3
Boots and Fur Promarkers Cool Grey 1, Cool Grey2, Cool Grey3

I added clear rock candy dry stickles to the fur to add some sparkle.

I added a panel embossed using an embosilicious folder on Centura Pearl and then cut the snowflake wreath twice stuck one on top of the other and added white glitter.

I fussy cut around Alannah leaving a very narrow white border and stuck her on to p of the wreath before adding more glittered snowflakes cut using a Tattered Lace snowflake die. Finally teh sentiment was cut from white card using Tattered Lace dies and I coloured them pink before sticking to the ribbons

I embossed a piece of pink card using a  patchwork embossing folder and mounted this onto kraft before sticking onto a 8x8 card blank I matted a piece of 6x6 patterned paper from the beach babe paper pad from fancy pants designs from craft and added this at an angle before adding my image.

The flowers are made from Martha Stewart paper clay and the balloons are peel offs stuck onto Kraft card. The bunting is cut using a Joanna sheen signature die, and the final touches were the gems and ribbon.

with a prize of 5 digi's of the winner's choice

Leaves at Fab n Funky

Hello everybody it's time for a new Fab N Funky Challenge
Thank you to all who joined us in last week's challenge. The DT had a great time looking at all the wonderful creations that were kindly shared with us!
Please check the challenge blog for the winners and top 3  Congratulations to you all. there were some wonderful creations and thank you all for sharing them with us.

The theme for this weeks challenge as chosen by Pat K is

Leaves

Our sponsor is StampArt Design by Kathryne
who our offering our First Prize Winner the choice of 5 digital images

Here is my creation

I have used Autumn Delights from Kathryne

The image was coloured using a combination of inks and watercolours. I printed the image onto water colour paper then used watercolours ivory and ochre to colour the face and hands and then the rest is done in distress inks
Dungarees - Faded Jeans
Shirt Olive
Neckerchief and heart patch - Barn Door
Shoes and Hat - Brushed Corduroy
Hair - Wild Honey
Birds and ground  - Frayed Burlap
Leaves Forest Moss and Rusty Hinge
Fence - Aged Mahogany
Pumpkin - Marigold
Sky - Broken China

Once teh image was dry I matted it onto a really dark green pearlescent paper and trimed to leave a narrow border.

The background paper is from a My Craft Studio CD Wishes and whispers and looks like handmade paper with leaves embedded in it this was also matted onto the dark green pearlescent paper and I added a layer of KRAFT card to it which had individual die cut leaves stuck to it. The leaves were originally die cut from white card then lightly pressed into a piece of cut and dry foam that had been prepared with flitter glue, and they were then dropped into red gold or copper thunder gilding flakes to get the metallic finish before being stuck to the Kraft card.

I then stuck this panel to teh backing panel and the whole thing was wrapped with a lovely rust coloured satin ribbon which was tied in a loose bow and then ends left to hang down the front f teh card before teh water coloured panel was added,

Inside the card I used more of the backing paper from the CD and distressed teh edges before colouring with bundled sage distress ink.

Opposites Attract at Fab and Funky

Hello, well we had some wonderful entries for our 'Stick It' challenge, you can check out the winners over on the Fab n Funky blog http://fabnfunkychallenges.blogspot.co.uk/.

I am hosting this week so I have chosen the theme of 'Opposites Attract' The challenge to produce a project using two colours from opposing sides of the colour wheel

Our fabulous sponsors this week are

and

Here is the card I made using Stamp Art Smoochy Bears and taking my colours as Red and Green

I coloured my image using promarkers
Sandstone, Caramel and Cocoa for the bears
Poppy and Berry for the red outfit
Grass and Evergreen for the Green Outfit.

Once coloured I added a mixture of polar white flowersoft and an iridescent glitter flake that was a free gift with a magazine, I mixed small amounts of the two together in a box before using - it was a bit of an experiment on my part but I am happy with the shimmer effect it gives.

I used a lovely rich green centura pearl card stock and to give contrast a very matt red textured card stock from Papermania to do the matting and layering. The image was fussy cut and placed on a white label cut using a nesting labels die from Spellbinders.

Finally the sentiment and the sprig of mistletoe were cut using Tattered Lace Dies and the finishing touches were the pearls which were added using cosmic shimmer white pearlescent PVA.

Here is what I made using the Baby Birdie set from Doodle Pantry

This particular set comes with a boy and girl baby birdie image and the appropriate sentiments.
I printed the little girl birdie onto white card along with the three sentiments.

I used my spectrum Noirs and Promarkers to colour the images as follows.
Feathers TN1, TN2, TN3, and on the wings and tail TN4
Beak - GB3
The hat and bow PP1, PP2, and CR1
The Nest - TN4, TN5, GB6, Henna. Cinnamon

I also used PP1 to colour the sentiments and rattle on the card
TN2 for the sentiment on the gift bag and the rattle handler

I made the bag from Kraft Paper that has a lovely textured finish and added a piece of backing paper from my stash before sticking the image and the sentiment to it. I finished the image and the sentiment with a border of pink pearls made using a pearl pen.

Teh card is a 6x6 Kraft blank with a piece of backing paper and then a strip of pink pearl paper that has been punched along the edge using a Martha Stewart punch and a strip of the Kraft paper I used for the bag that has been wrapped with a thin strip of pink lace.

I added the image again a border of pink pearls has been added using the pearl pen. The rattle and the sentiments. To finish the card I added two little bells and a pink organza polka dot ribbon bow.

Anything but Square at Fab 'n' Funky

So here we are my first post as a full fledged member of the Fab 'n' Funky design team. I have to say there were some beautiful entries for last weeks challenge of use a doily and you can check to see if you were a winner over on the Fab 'n' Funky challenge blog. Whilst you're there check out the DT creations for this weeks challenge - 'Anything but Square' The theme has been chosen by Angelique and we have two sponsors this week.

And

For the challenge I got to work with this wonderful design from DigiDarla - called Cheery Cheerleader

Considering the time of year she just cried out to be coloured in red white and blue.
I used Spetrum Noir pens as follows
Hair TN 4 TN6 and GB7
Skin FS2 FS3 TN2 and PP1
Outfit and Pompoms
CR8,CR10 and DR1
TB2,TB3, and TB4
IB-1 to highlight the white bits
I then added stickles iridescent glitter over her T shirt and shoes and the white areas of the pompoms to add a bit of sparkle.

I love circular easel cards and all the base shapes were cut using an x-cut circle cutter in different sizes.

The backing papers are a combination of papers from my stash and some from a black and white folder on the Ooh La La Femme Fatale CD that have just had the red or blue boosted in MCS before printing off.

I cut some triangles from scraps of paper t make the bunting which was then just stuck down on the background and tiny little star gems were added at the corners of the pieces.

I added a rose from my stash that had been glittered with ultra-fine glitter and then hand rolled some roses from red polka dot paper. I added some ribbon and some leaves. The finishing touches were the gems which I have had in my stash for as long as I can remember.

The sentiments were computer generated and cut using inverted scalloped circle and plain circle dies from nestabilities.

So all that remains is to wish All of my American friends a Happy 4th of July.
