Joe had to be in the Bay area alot in August so we loaded up the kids in our good ol' Ford Explorer and set out again. In the middle of the night of course. We took my sisters Becca and Laura with us too. The car was crowded and they might never want kids now, but I am so grateful they were there. Thanks you guys. Besides the fact that my kids adore them, they were also very helpful and fun. (Except the singing, and you both know what I'm talking about.) We went to Muir woods, with the really old, big trees and my kids loved it. The trees were really cool. We had a lot of fun there.
Except some old guy and his trophy wife in a Mercedes swerved around us and stole our parking spot and almost ran over me and Patrick. I'm not joking it was ridiculous. The parking lots were all full. But then Joe found one right in front when he went to drop off the kids. When our old friend saw that after he had stolen our far away spot he was pissed. Then every time they walked past us we would all just start laughing. Sounds mean but they were so rude and almost ran us over being selfish. We went down to the Pier 49 after that. This is were Patrick was introduced to crab. We ate dinner down there and order a whole huge, crab to share, for the adults of course. Patrick took one bite and wouldn't eat anything else. He probably ate half of it. And now it's one of his favorite foods. We also went to the Frieda Kahlo exhibit. It was really interesting. My kids were so good while we were there. Lydia found a painting called "Luther Burbank" that she loved.
It's a picture of a dead guy under the ground with a tree growing our of him and a man growing out of the tree. Very gruesome. Lyd loved it and wouldn't leave. In fact all of her paintings are gruesome. After we left Patrick announced that he hated that. And Lyd loved it, of course. We also went to the Golden Gate Bridge. It is gorgeous and very impressive. I kept making Joe drive over it, which didn't make him happy cause it cost $4 dollars everytime. We walked on it too. It was really cold. We went to Golden Gate Park too. It was fun but really big. I think someone said it was bigger than Central Park. We were actually looking for the Full House park but sadly we didn't find it. But our favorite thing to do was going to Monterey. We went on a whale watching tour. We saw dolphins, humpback and killer whales. It was really amazing. Patrick was at the front of the boat the whole time with Becca, and me and Joe were at the back trying not to throw up. Patrick also spotted jellyfish in the water. When he pointed them out no one believed him till the marine biologist said he was right. There was pink(girls), blue and yellow ones. Then he told the other passengers that turtles ate jellyfish and they all laughed at him, but then the marine biologist told everyone that he was right again. It was pretty cute. My little animal rainman. He seriously knows everything about animals.
Monterey was really pretty. That was our second weekend there. We were supposed to stay till Wednsday but we were all tired and felt like we had seen everything we wanted to and so we headed home on Monday night instead. Really fun, but don't want to live there.
