Big Fun Game And Then Some

I picked surprise number 14 in Wes' Big Fun Game back in April. You can see what I won HERE. The game was a blast, eagerly awaiting the next pick/steal and seeing what all the prizes were.
2008 Topps Blogger Jaybarkerfan #WM, Authentic Autograph 58/98

This post is to show the Angels cards that Wes graciously threw in with my prize.
And there they are.
The Nolan Ryan Materials card is fantastic.

But here is where I get confused. On my desk, directly below the team pack of the cards from Wes shown above, was another team bag stuffed full of Angels. It didn't have a label or identifying card so I don't know if these were also part of what Wes sent, or from another blogger.
It was over a month ago you know.
So, if these were also from you Wes, thank you again.
If from another blogger, I'm so sorry to not give you the proper credit.
Some really great cards in there.

Jaybarkerfan #supertraders Installment

Got my first Super Traders package the other day from Wes.
I had seen that I was one of like 35 zip codes he was sending to.
Insane.

There were all kinds of goodies in the package.
Here's the highlights.

Signed Super Traders Calling Card.

2013 Topps Museum Collection #72, Teal 29/50 and base
I dont get in on many breaks, but so I was very happy to get in on this one and happy to get a hit.
Sweet card.

2007 Upper Deck MLB Artifacts DA-GA
And another hit!
I love Garret Anderson.

1987 Fleer Star Stickers #127
Oh yeah, a gem of a miscut, ink-smudged, junk wax card.
It's a beauty.
What is it about cards like this that makes them so cool.

A sampling of random Angels.

A sampling of horizontal cards.
These scan better separately from the vert cards.
Makes for a nice even box.
I really like the 2003 Upper Deck Twenty-Five Salute Troy Glaus.

Checklists!
The 1986 is from Topps Traded.
I would think that this would be a harder one to come by.

And a glorious 1984 Topps sweepstakes card.
I had opened 2 wax boxes of 1984 Topps back in the day, to work on the complete set.
And promptly threw out all the sweepstakes cards.
Lame.
Took a long time to get these all back.

Good stuff Super Trader Wes, thank you.

Super-stoked about this one.

Yet another new Fleer box set Angels card I needed.

1984 Topps Sweepstakes card
Super-stoked again.

I'm Unworthy of JBF's Junk

Seems I've received at least three packages in the last few months from Jaybarkerfan without the time to send anything in return.  He's been hitting me fast and furious with what seems to be an unlimited abundance of Angels stuff.  Here are just a few from the latest package.

1992 Topps McDonalds Baseballs Best #20
An odd set I was unaware of.
Apparently they were sold only at McDonalds in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut
and came in 5-card packs.

1994 Topps Gold #760
Almost overlooked the gold stamped "ToppsGold" on this one.
Takes a keen eye to spot it.

1979, 1980 Topps Team Checklist cards.
Came with several other team checklist cards.

1981 Donruss #572
One of a bunch of older wax included.
Big old plug of chaw was the first thing I noticed on this card.
Then I was blown away by the abundance of green.

One of a stack of logo stickers.
I can picture Dale Murphy in his light blue Braves uniform.

2005 Donruss Leather & Lumber #14 28/100
What is that background?
I don't think it's leather OR lumber.
Or is it chipped paint on lumber?

1986 Topps Woolworth #6
Another oddball set I'm not familiar with.
Nowhere on the card is the Woolworth name, had to use my Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards to figure this one out.

2009 A&G  AGR-JW
Jared spinning around to see his fastball go yard.

2005 Topps All-Star Stitches #ASR-BC
If the jersey swatch is from the All-Star uniform, doesn't it make sense to show a picture of the player in his All-Star uniform?

Thanks for always thinking of me!

How Carew'd Of You!

How rude of you to do that to me!

Not really rude, actually very generous.  Just a play on words from what I received in the mail recently.  You'll see what I'm talking about with the "rude" comment in a bit.

First lets look at the "hits"that came in the bubble envelope.

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection Dual Swatch #176 047/400

I like to give credit when credit is due; therefore, I like to post about the cards I receive in the mail.
If someone took the time to pull cards for me, package them up and spent their own money on shipping them to me, then I want to show my appreciation by posting about them.

2003 Topps All-Star Stitches ASR-BD

2010 Upper Deck Game Jersey UDGJ-CF

I don't always show every card that came.
Sometimes I do, but sometimes I'll just pick a few to highlight.

2008 Donruss Threads Signatures #124 412/999

Here is a nice one to highlight.
Rookie Certified Autograph of Angels catching prospect Anel De Los Santos.
Anel was in the Angels system until 2010.
Never made the bigs though.

2008 Allen & Ginter's Mini Relic AGR-GA

2012 Bowman Platinum Blue Refractor BPP87 192/199

I sent the base version of this card to John at Spring Training last year and he returned it rather quickly with an autograph.  But he used a thin pen and you could barely see the autograph.  So I sent two more, now knowing that he was willing to sign TTM.  I think I included a sharpie too.
Then he was traded.
Haven't gotten those back yet.

1998 Topps Finest #97

Sometimes, if the cards are those I needed for a set and I can check them off, I get so excited that I immediately put the cards in their places in the binders, leaving me nothing left to scan, meaning there is no material to make a post.

2010 Topps Chrome Xfractor #155

So those were the big hits in the package.

Here's where I got Carew'd:

Seven 1980 Topps Rod Carew cards.
That's more Carew than one man can handle.
Double-down on 1975 Topps Ken Sanders too.

For this post I saved out everything, scanned it, and you will get to see it.
No rush to put into binders, no pulling out just the new stuff
Lucky you.

And even though they can be found in relative abundance, there's just something so cool about 1970's era Topps cards: the look, the feel, the ragged edges, the off-centeredness, the dog ears, so nostalgic.

The world has spun around to me looking into my Fleer Logo Sticker collection again.  Trying to get a wantlist going but so many stinking variations.  Cannot get enough of them though, and to receive Angels stickers is all the more exciting.

And the rest of the rest:

That's a lot of good Angels cards.
I recently cleaned out my "in-box", sorting, stacking, checking off, bindering or boxing.
This one envelope full of Angels just set me back.

Bet you are wondering who all these cards came from....

You're looking at greatness right there.
