Early 20th Century Pipe Holder with Carved Nude
Possibly
an end of day whimsey, this sculpture was carved out of a brick and
painted with silver radiator paint. I don't smoke, but it will make a
good business card holder! Found in Galesburg, Illinois.

"End of Day" Pottery Head
Here's a nice clay figure of a head that's probably an end of day whimsey. Small (2 1/2" tall) and has a hole on the top, so might have been a match holder. Recently sold on eBay for $ 105.83.

Old "End of Day" Sewer Tile Sculpture of African American Man
Here's an "End of Day" sewer tile sculpture that recently sold on eBay for $ 789.00.
Sewer tile was made primarily between 1880 and around 1930 and usually only produced in the Northeast. Workers in the tile plants would use left over clay and glazing materials to produce small whimseys like this one.
Makers mark on botton, inscribed "OLD FIZEAK." 6" high and 5.5" inches wide.
