Need help with organizing an educational tour?

Are you tasked with organizing a study tour for students or a society? Logistics for such an event can be a daunting affair if you have not done it before plus if it is for a big group. There is a ton of things to look into from air-ticketing and ground transportation to food and lodging, site visit arrangements, and other nitty-gritty stuff.

Fortunately nowadays there are companies that can take care of educational travel logistics leaving you with more time for other aspects of the tour.  If you need such a service, visit passports.com for educational travel services. You would be glad you did.

NUS terminates Alvin Tan's scholarship

Source: The Star

So, the verdict is out on disciplinary action on sex blogger, Alvin Tan.

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has terminated the scholarship of sex blogger Alvin Tan.

The Straits Times reported a source as telling it that the Asean scholarship holder was not expelled but will have to pay full, unsubsidised fees as a foreign student should he want to conclude his final year of studies at the NUS Law School.

Friday Frolics - The Mountain Test + Alvin Tan & Vivian Lee

Hey, it's their bodies, flaunt if they want to, flaunt if they want to.. Just taking a cue from this old number, It's My Party. (Isn't You Tube amazing?)

Are we making a mountain out of a molehill in the Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee episode? In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, this pair of lovebirds have been sharing their normally-behind-closed-doors sexcapades online. They first shared pictures on their Facebook pages and last month set up and uploaded photos and videos onto their blog. The blog, Sumptuous Erotica, is no longer public. however. You'll need to register to get on it now - a small price to pay if you're interested, I'd say.
Both of these individuals are adults, and educated. Alvin is an Asean scholar, final year in law at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and has a business going in Malaysia, while Vivian graduated in business studies, and now job-hunting. So, leave them be, people! They know what they want.

Talk about mountain, this week's frolicking is The Mountain Test. No, nothing close to what Alvin and Vivian are doing. Just a good old-fashioned personality quiz to tell you something more about yourself. Enjoy!

Happy Friday, everyone!

You Are an Optimist

You are thoughtful and responsible. It's rare that you find yourself in a bind.

You are good at finding balance in your life. You rest when you need to, but you also know that too much rest is dangerous.

When you get tired, you slow down at first... but then you usually get a second wind!

You are happiest when you reflect on what you have to be thankful for in your life. Happiness is a choice.

Children Full of Life - A Must-watch video

If only teachers across the world are like Mr Toshiro Kanamori who truly understands what teaching children is all about and who certainly made a positive difference in the lives of his students.

This is a must-watch video, especially for teachers. Thanks to Pandabonium who allowed me to 'borrow' it from his site.

"In the award-winning documentary Children Full of Life, a fourth-grade class in a primary school in Kanazawa, northwest of Tokyo, learn lessons about compassion from their homeroom teacher, Toshiro Kanamori. He instructs each to write their true inner feelings in a letter, and read it aloud in front of the class. By sharing their lives, the children begin to realize the importance of caring for their classmates."

I don't know about you but I had to stretch for tissues. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Depressed wife sits through hubby’s classes

Here is a beautiful real-life story I read in The Star:

AN 80-year-old professor from China's Jiangsu University of Science and Technology brings his wife, who is suffering from depression, to his classes so that he can take care of her while giving his lectures, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The professor would seat his wife in the last row of the class before he starts his lectures.

She would listen to his lectures but sometimes, she would walk up to the professor.

The professor would apologise to his students before bringing his wife to her seat and continue his lessons, it reported.

The news about the professor and his wife has been circulating on the Internet and the news has touched many Netizens.

However, some wondered why the professor has not retired at the age of 80.

According to the university, the professor was re-hired because he gave good lectures and the students liked to attend his classes.

So sweet, don't you think?

Toxic art - Portraits using Pills

Celebrities make popular subjects for art, in any medium. These celebs don't need introduction. Besides being famous in the entertainment arena, one thing they have in common is that they are no longer with us. Gone too soon, indeed! What did they all succumb to? Take a closer look at the images below and you might get a clue. Click on them to enlarge for a better view.

Amy Winehouse

Michael Jackson

Heath Ledger

Great works of art, don't you think? These portraits are created by a U.S.-based artist, Jason Mercier, using colorful medications, as part of a series of mosaics inspired by celebrities who battled drug abuse.

Rehab-star Amy Winehouse died at the end of last month, bringing to an end her well publicised battle with crack cocaine, heroin and alcohol. We all know what happened to Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger.

So sad..

Raising purr-fect kids - Tiger Cubs

We have sometimes come across stories of high-achieving children and wondered how they do it. In all instances, nothing succeeds without hardwork and some sacrifice. Here is another story featured as one of the top stories in The Star today. This is especially good reading for moms-to-be and moms with small children. Some lessons to take away perhaps..

ESTEPHE and Perrine Corlin, twins aged 10, were in Kuala Lumpur recently to visit their mum’s family, and to promote their new book The Roar Of The Tiger Cubs to help raise funds for their favourite charity project. The children reside in Hong Kong with their Malaysian mother and French father.

Estephe and Perrine shot to fame when they sat the Cambridge University International General Certificate Secondary Exam (IGCSE) Mathematics for 16-year-olds last November, and scored As!

Beauty and Hair schools

"Give me a fish, you feed me for a day. Teach me how to fish, you feed me for live." Some wise Chinese sage said that, I think.

It is often believed that if one has a skill, one is set for life or rather a better chance at a better life. A colleague of mine is wise enough to pick up a few certifications. She's a certified private secretary, knows how to tailor clothes (and she does tailoring for colleagues), and she's even graduated from a hairdressing school. One talented lady, she is.

Hairdressing is a good trade. In fact, it is a great trade, one that can allow one to be his or her own boss. If you are in the US in the Wichita area, and are considering going into training to become a hairstylist, you might want to check out the Regency Beauty Institute where they have one of the best if not the best hair schools in Wichita.

Available in 19 different states in the U.S., The Regency facilities are fully-equipped and fabulously—designed to mirror upscale salons. Their program is comprehensive so you'll learn everything you need to learn about the beauty business. They offer full-time as well as part-time classes. The school even helps students with placements, so there's no telling where your career in beauty can take you. Indeed, The Regency is one Cosmetology school with a difference.
