WMS November SOAP - Day 4

Hi there. Thank you for joining me for the past few days of the November SOAP at Waltzingmouse Stamps. Today concludes our festivities, and I hope you have been inspired.

I'm starting today off with another card made using Candy Jar Christmas Fillers. I've had this card in my head for a while now, and I love how it turned out on paper.

This card is larger than normal (8" x 4.5") to make room for those delicious jars. They are resting on their own fancy doilies and some plaid patterned paper created using Off Beat Backgrounds.

My last project for this month's SOAP is another home decor or gift item. It started out as a desk organizer / photo cube and turned into a cute decoration for just about anywhere!

I started by removing the glass from the frames and spray painting the piece white (it was originally black, purchased from Kohl's). Then I decorated each panel, putting holiday sentiments in two and images in the others. I combined elements from Nutcracker Sweet, Holiday Labels No. 14, and Compliments of the Season for the frames. Here are shots of each side.

I filled my cube with candy canes, which would make a great table centerpiece or be a fun thing to put by the front door. You could also use the cube to present a gift.. fill it with some bath wash and lotion, or some hot chocolate packets and cookies.. lots of options! What is great then is that the packaging is easily incorporated into the recipient's home decor.

Well that is it for me today! We hope that you have enjoyed and have been inspired by this month's Stamp of Approval Parade, highlighting Claire's lovely Christmas and holiday sets. Now it’s time for you to get your craftiness on as we invite you to participate in a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) competition.

Find a card or project from any of the projects posted over the past few days by the WMS Design Team, CASE that project using Waltzingmouse Stamp images, and link it using the Inlinkz on Claire’s blog. At the end of the competition, one project will be randomly selected to be highlighted with a Parade of its own on several of the Design Team blogs.

We hope you will enjoy this competition and that it will inspire you be creative. You have one week to complete and link your project as the competition will close at 8:00 AM Claire’s time on November 10th, which is 3 AM Eastern, 2 AM Central and Midnight, Pacific time. The winner will be announced on Claire’s blog on November 11th.

WMS November SOAP - Day 3

Good morning!

Thank you for joining me here for Day 3 of the November SOAP for Waltzingmouse Stamps. In case you're just dropping by, non-release months at Waltzingmouse Stamps are a time for us to take another look at previously released sets and share some inspiration, now that your orders have probably arrived! This month we are using any of the WMS Christmas sets to help you get a jump start on the holidays.

The card I would like to share with you today was made using Nordic Winter. I've seen a lot of these particular patterns in the colors red, blue, and gray and wanted to create my own interpretation for this card.

I have really been loving using different cardstock strips for my card fronts lately. Fun to combine different patterns and widths. I will never get tired of using this set.

Today I also have a home decor project to share with you. I love to make these, but always struggle with photographing them. Bill helped me this time and did a fantastic job, but I wish you could see how this project looks in real life.

Using 2011 Holiday Ornaments and last year's Vintage Ornaments, I created a holiday garland.

I alternated ornaments from each set (die cut with their coordinating dies) and stuck with a traditional color combination of red, green, and tan.

The Vintage Ornaments were embellished with a little paper rosette. Recently I picked up Martha's Scoring Board and used it here to create my own mini rosettes. Each of the ornaments were finished off with a healthy dose of glitter and strung together on a length of baker's twine.

I really love how this turned out and the length was perfect to go across my fireplace mantle.

I hope you enjoyed my projects for today, here is the list of the other Design Team members sharing inspiration!

See you tomorrow!

Anya

WMS November SOAP - Day 2

Morning, all!

Welcome to Day 2 of the November Waltzingmouse SOAP. Back today with more Christmas creations!

Leading things off today is a card inspired by this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge (have you played along?).

I know I've said this before, but nothing brings me more pleasure than pulling out a bunch of WMS sets and combining little bits from each. That, my friends, is versatility!

For this card, I used images from Festive Foliage (one of my most favorite sets ever), 2011 Holiday Ornaments, Gingham & Co., and then topped it off with a big, bold sentiment from Say It Loud - Winter Holiday. Stamping happiness!

For my second project, I made a little shadowbox ornament perfect for the tree, to decorate a present - whatever!

I started by creating and assembling a little box, and then I lined it with patterned paper. All the images I used to create my little Christmas scene are from A Cottage Christmas. There are lots of layers and lots of glitter on this one!

A ribbon is threaded through the top so the shadowbox can be hung up. A bit of batting was added to the front of the shadowbox to resemble snow. This was a fun project, and one that would be great with kiddos! I can think of oodles of other Waltzingmouse sets that would be great for this project.

So that's me for today - as always, thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such lovely comments. I am working on the pattern for the box I shared yesterday, so I will make sure to let you know when that is ready. Thank you for requesting it!

Here are the other Design Team members that will wow you today:

Have a great day!

WMS August SOAP - Day 4

Hi there! Today is Day 4 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Stamp of Approval Parade. Today is our rewind day, where we pull out an old set to use - this month it is Afternoon Tea.

This is perfect timing for me, as my Nana's birthday is this weekend. She's British through and through, and she loves her tea!

Can you tell that I have watched Alice in Wonderland recently? :)

I experimented with a couple different ways of stacking the tea cups, but ultimately what I ended up doing was stamping them first onto the cream cardstock to get my placement and then onto patterned paper. I cut them from the patterned paper and then, using a craft knife, cut a slit in the lip of the cup so the one above it could slide inside - it gave the most realistic stacked look.

I decided to not even bother trying to cut the handles out, so I just colored them in with Copics to coordinate with the patterned paper. Isn't this cute? I want to make a tall card with a rainbow of about 15 of these babies. It would just make me happy.

I also made some coordinating coasters as a gift for Nana.

I followed this tutorial for making coasters with patterned paper. I thought I would try using more than one layer of paper, and it worked beautifully. I stamped the large teacups from Afternoon Tea Sentiments (a wonderful companion to Afternoon Tea) onto patterned paper and cut them out.

Let me give you a hint for cutting out the handles. I snip the bottom of the handle off (where it meets the cup) so I can get my scissors up inside the handle. After I have that all cut out, I take a tiny piece of tape and (on the back) attach the handle back to the cup. It is way cleaner than trying to use a craft knife, and I bet you'd never know I snipped that piece off if I hadn't told you!

After the tea cups were adhered to the base paper, I used Mod Podge to glue the paper to the tile. And then I podged the heck out of it. Pretty stinkin' cute if you ask me - a perfect place to put a hot cup of tea!

Gals, thank you all so much for your sweet comments over the past 3 days of the SOAP. I love the opportunity to share my ideas and passion for these lovely stamps with you! Your comments mean more to me than you know!

I hope that you have enjoyed and have been inspired by the creations we've shared over the past few days of our Stamp of Approval Parade. I know I have enjoyed the opportunity to highlight last month's sets again as well as Afternoon Tea. Now its your turn, as we invite you to participate in a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) competition.

WMS August SOAP - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps SOAP (Stamp of Approval Parade), our event for non-release months. We're revisiting the eight sets released in July, now that you should all have them in your inky hands!

Its an assortment of sets from me again today... I was just having so much fun creating!

My first card focuses on the beautiful frame images from Ovals - Classic Frames and also from Cameo Creations.

I stamped the frames with white pigment ink onto kraft cardstock. Then I die-cut some ovals from patterned paper to fit inside the frames.

The sentiment is one of the little phrases from Say It Loud. A little button and some inked edges finish it off.

Next up is a sweet little vintage western number. Did you see all the western stuff released at CHA? I caught peeks at a few different patterned papers with a western theme - you're ahead of the curve if Back in the Saddle and Way Out West are in your stash!

I layered a cameo from Cameo to Go onto the filigree oval from the same set. The oval was stamped with the woodgrain background from Way Out West. The sentiment is from Back in the Saddle, I curved it to frame the ovals and then trimmed it out. The background is one of the doily images from Dainty Doilies 2.

I inked all the edges with Distress Ink and added some gold pearls to the sentiment. I really love how this one came together. Isn't it great that these sets compliment each other so well?

And finally, a chance to pull out Cicely at Halloween.

Here's an option if you don't care for coloring or paper piecing - just plain old stamping! I kept Cicely plain and simple, stamped just in black with some Distress Inked edges but let the patterned paper add some interest to my card. I created a patchwork of 1-inch squares, punched from six different patterns. I adhered these to a piece of cardstock and then die-cut it with a Labels Eight die. Added a bit of baker's twine, a button, and a tag and Cicely was ready for trick or treating! Have I mentioned how much fun these little girls are? ;)

Well that's all I have to share today, here is your list of the rest of the ladies joining us today:

Have a super day!

WMS August SOAP - Day 1

Hi there! Today is the first day of our August Stamp of Approval Parade (SOAP) - our festivities for non-release months at Waltzingmouse Stamps.

We will spend the next three days recapping the sets released in July and then we'll spend the last day sharing inspiration for an older set.

Today is Cameo day for me. I have mixed and matched images from Cameo Creations and Cameo To Go.

First up is a little something I put together with this week's Play Date Cafe Color Challenge in mind.

I used the cameos to create my background paper and then added some embellishments in antique gold. Musical Backgrounds snuck in there too - a perfect compliment to the cameos!

And now for something a little ... spooky.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share something for Halloween, since it is my favorite time of the year. I kept trying to think of how I could give this lovely lady an eye to follow you (you know the classic Halloween movie portrait on the wall with the moving eyes) or how I could zombie-fy her. I kept it safe, though, and just added some spiderwebs. Love using spiderwebs on Halloween cards.

The cameo was backed with some crepe paper, I snipped the edges with pinking shears for extra spookiness. The sentiment is a new one, from the Cicely at Halloween set being released today. Haven't Claire's samples been incredible? She's teasing us with all the new Spellbinders dies too :)

And since I was in the Halloween groove and couldn't resist playing with new stamps, I've also created something for the new release. I'm not much of a colorer.. I enjoy it but don't think I'm very good at it, but I can fussy cut like nobody's business! So instead of coloring my little cutie, I paper pieced her. This is Gracie at Halloween:

I did color some parts of her.. her face and hands and her broom, but the rest of her - even kitty! - was paper pieced. Oh these vintage girls, I love them. LOVE them. They are available for purchase today in the WMS store. Hurry and snatch them up!

Really? Who wouldn't want a polka dotted witch's hat? The patterned paper is The Spider's Web from My Mind's Eye. Its a favorite of mine... I love the black and mustard yellow together.

I think I've kept you long enough... I'm so glad you could stop by today, here is a list of the other ladies sharing projects today!

Have a great day - see you tomorrow!

WMS June SOAP - Day 4

Hi there! Today is Day 4 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Stamp of Approval Parade. Today is our rewind day, where we pull out an old set to use - today its Free Spirit - Boy, just in time for Father's Day!

My first card was so simple, I felt a little like I was cheating!

I just used one of the tribal patterned stamps to create the pattern. The sentiment, from Free Spirit - Sentiments, is the perfect compliment.

I couldn't leave you with just that for today, so here are some more goodies using Free Spirit - Boy.

This card is for today's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Isn't it cool that this bright, summery card came from a 'boy' set?

And one final project. Can't forget the other guys in the family, too!

I stamped the circle cluster and then embossed it with Distress Embossing Powder. Have you ever tried this? It contains crystals that don't stick when you heat emboss it. So after you emboss your image, you brush the crystals off and it looks like your image is distressed. Cool!

I hope that you have enjoyed and have been inspired by the creations we've shared over the past few days of our Stamp of Approval Parade. I know I have enjoyed the opportunity to highlight last month's sets again as well as Free Spirit - Boy. Now its your turn, as we invite you to participate in a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) competition.

WMS June SOAP - Day 3

Happy Friday! Today is Day 3 of the WMS Stamp of Approval Parade, and it just wouldn't be a Waltzingmouse event if I didn't break out the polyshrink!

The wheels started turning when I first saw this piece. I used Dainty Doilies - Large to create my own.

I used my tried and true method of stamping on polyshrink (here's a video tutorial if you've never tried it) and this time used white StazOn ink.

After the stamped images dried, I cut them out with the appropriate sized Big Scalloped Circle LG die from Spellbinders, punched my holes, and used my heat gun to shrink them. I attached them together with some chain and that was it! It was very easy!

Here's a close up of some of the pieces. They really look outstanding in white!

I hope you aren't getting tired of seeing these jewelry projects - sometimes its fun to try something different.. and the polyshrink is just so cool to use! Here's your list of the other ladies sharing projects today:

WMS June SOAP - Day 2

Good morning! I'm here with day 2 of the Waltzingmouse SOAP (Stamp of Approval Parade).

Did you see all the amazing things the DT created yesterday? Yeah, I know!

On my card for today, I used Gingham & Co. and Say It Loud. Hey, no one ever said I couldn't use the same set every day! ;)

During last month's release I created this baby boy card and thought now would be the perfect opportunity to whip out a card for a baby girl.

I started by stamping the smallest gingham pattern from Gingham & Co. in a variety of pink inks onto cream cardstock. Then I die cut the cardstock to create some cute ric-rac strips.

I lined them up on my card randomly, leaving a little bit more space between some than others. Then I stitched around the whole outside. It is cute and a little vintage!

So glad you stopped by today, please be sure to visit the other gals!

Take care!

WMS June SOAP - Day 1

Hi there! Today is the first day of our June Stamp of Approval Parade (SOAP) - our festivities for non-release months at Waltzingmouse Stamps.

We will spend the next three days recapping the sets released in May and then we'll spend the last day sharing inspiration for an older set.

Today its a mash up of two of my favorite sets from the May release: Dainty Doilies - Large and Say It Loud.

I started by stamping the largest doily in gray and then die cut it using the Big Scalloped Circles Large from Spellbinders.

I thought some rhinestones added to the word love would be a perfect touch - these letters have the perfect little 'spaces' for a little bling!

I pulled out some different sized hearts from Sweethearts to finish it off. I love the doily background of this circle card!

I'm so glad you could stop by today, here is a list of the other ladies sharing projects today!

WMS CASE Competition Winner

Good morning!

Back on April 4th, Waltzingmouse Stamps rounded out our first SOAP month with an invitation to participate in a WMS CASE (Copy and Share Everything) Competition.

I am happy to share that a winner has been announced. Today we are highlighting this fantastic project created by Cyndie of Artful Haven!

Cyndie was inspired by the bracelet I created during Day 3 of the WMS SOAP. What a fantastic take on that technique! I love the way that Cyndie cut a shape out of the center and added pearls there - the end result is elegant and beautiful! I also love the shape of the Labels Four dies for this - bravo, Cyndie!

Thanks to all the other participants in the contest as well - you all did an amazing job. Please be sure to check out the other fabulous projects here.

Have a great day!

WMS Soap Day 4

Hi! Let's make Monday morning a little brighter by continuing the WMS SOAP, shall we? Thank you all for your kind comments on my video yesterday. I have a few ideas for more, but if you have any special requests, lay 'em on me!

Today is our rewind day - we're pulling out Spring Baskets, an oldie and a goodie, to share with you.

For my first card, I used the two fancy Easter egg images to create a colorful background. I lightly sketched in pencil lines to follow and erased them once I had stamped all my eggs.

I wanted to keep the sentiment simple, and just added a skinny strip of cardstock to visually anchor it.

My second card is a little clean and simple.. I struggle with this style, I always want to add more.

I started by stamping the polka dot frame from Very Vintage Labels No. 18. Then I stamped the stacked egg image, using a mask to stamp it multiple times and give the illusion of a bunch of pretty eggs all piled up.

Another label was cut out and layered on top to add some dimension. I topped it off with the bow image from Spring Baskets and the Eggstra Special sentiment.

I hope that you have enjoyed and have been inspired by the creations we've shared over the past few days of our Stamp of Approval Parade. I know I have enjoyed the opportunity to highlight last month's sets again as well as Spring Baskets. Now its your turn, as we invite you to participate in a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) competition.

Here are the details: choose a card or project from any of those posted over the past few days by the WMS Design Team, CASE that project using Waltzingmouse Stamps images, and link it using the Inlinkz on the WMS Blog. At the end of the competition, one project will be randomly selected to be highlighted with a Parade of its own on several of the Design Team blogs.

We hope you will enjoy this competition and that it will inspire you be creative. You have one week to complete and link your project as the competition will close at 8:00 AM Claire’s time on April 10th (That corresponds to 3 AM Eastern, 2 AM Central and Midnight, Pacific time). The winner will be announced on the WMS Blog on April 11th. I can't wait to see what you do!!

Here is the list of the other ladies participating this morning. You'll see a few new additions.. the WMS family is growing!! :)

And giant huge happy welcomes to:

Make sure to give them some love! Have a great day!
