To the moon and bat...

TGIF!

It has been ages since I've colored up one of the darling images from Lili of the Valley but when I saw this year's Halloween release I simply couldn't resist adding a few new digis to my collection. Mystical Moon was the first to get colored up, there is just something about that sweet face peeking out from beneath that big ol' hat that totally tugs on my heart. She is so cute all sprawled out across the crescent moon and once again I enjoyed the challenge of trying to capture the glow of moonlight on her. Then I just colored in a monochromatic purple night sky full of billowing clouds trailing across it, the awesome Dr. Ph. Martin's bleed proof white making another appearance for my sprinkling of stars here and there. The bats were stamped on once I had settled on this sentiment to go with her and really help to tie the whole scene together.

I gotta admit, I'm kinda sad that there is only once more week to go before Halloween. I've got way more stamps that I want to use than I will be able to get to this year. Sigh... the challenges and hardships we stampers face. Right? LOL  ;)

Stay crafty my friends!

Trick or treat...

Hey there!

It's hard to believe we are only a couple days away from Halloween, where did the month go? Even with these last three days I'm not going to be able to ink up all the fun Halloween stamps that I got this year, some will just have to wait until next year to fulfill their crafty destiny. But today I was able to play with this super cute Halloween stamp that my pal Tress gifted me with recently. These two sweet trick or treaters are no longer available in rubber but they can be found in the Lili of the Valley digi shop. I paired them with a spooky haunted house from an older Penny Black set to help flesh out the scene and add a bit of story to the background. What a delight they were to color up and I'm so glad I was able to fit them into my crafty schedule. :)

Ok, stay spooky guys and ghouls!

Merry Christmas...

Good morning!

Things are pretty busy around here as we prepare for the big holiday tomorrow. I cleaned the kitchen yesterday setting the stage for the delicious show to begin. Pies are on today's agenda and I am in charge of the pecan since they are my favorite. Then there is the Chex mix and all the other little snacks for people to nosh on while the bird cooks. This hasn't left a lot of time for card making but I was smart and planned ahead making a few extra cards last week. This is one of them and it features the sweet Holy Light stamp from Lili of the Valley as well as more of that great Tidings paper. I knew that I was going to have a lot of gold accents on the card so I tried my hand at giving this little angel a gold robe to wear. I gotta say that I'm pretty darn happy with the results.  :)

Ok then, time for me to get baking.
Later gators!  :)

All the joy...

TGIF!

I gotta say, I'm kinda excited... tomorrow is my birthday but today is the day that I will be celebrating with friends. We've got a whole day planned and I know that we are going to have a blast. And luckily for me the snow is holding off so I shouldn't have any problems getting to town and then back home, just have to watch out for deer.
As for my card today, I've inked up this adorable scene called Nativity Angels from Lili of the Valley. They have so many cute stamps but their collection of little nativity pageant kids are my absolute favorites. I paired up this trio of heavenly kiddos with some new Christmas papers from Authentique called Tidings. I just  love, love, love the print on kraft look.  :)

Ok friends, thanks for stopping by!

Birthday fishes...

TGIF!

We are in the middle of a heat wave here and everything is getting hot, hot, hot! I'm definitely thinking about spending the afternoon down at the lake. Sure the water is still freezing cold but it will be a welcome relief.

This little mermaid is keeping cool, she is Mermaid I from Lili of the Valley, and I can officially say that I have now inked up all three of the LOTV mermaid stamps that I own... yeah! It's a feel good moment for me, LOL! I've actually been quite successful in crossing a lot of stamps off my to-ink list during this month of mermaids and I can't believe we are almost to the end of it. Luckily there's no rule saying that I can't throw in a new mermaid here and there as I get them... I mean, have you seen the sneak peek banner over on the Greeting Farm FB page?!   ;)

Ok then, gotta get movin'.
Have a great weekend everybody!

Lucky stars...

Hi-dee-ho!

Today I've got a pair of lovely mermaids gracing my card. The stamp is called 'Little Mermaid Friends' and is from Lili of the Valley. The image is so intricate that I knew from the start there would be no fussy cutting so instead I went with a very clean and simple card design. Heck, I didn't even add any embellishing other than some glossy accents on the bubbles and Wink of Stella glitter on the fins. And I'm still tickled to get more use out of those star sentiments by playing off the whole starfish theme going on here. All in all, I'm quite pleased with how this simple and sweet card came together. :)

Alrighty, I'm outta here.

Night sky in my hand...

TGIF!

I went in a different direction with my card today... there are no pattern papers, no embellishments anywhere in sight. Instead I started with this kinda scenic outdoor stamp from Lili of the Valley called 'Midsummer's Night' and just expanded on it to create the entire card design. First I added a few extra stars to the sky and then I started coloring that sky before doing anything else. I don't have an airbrush system so instead I grabbed a variety of markers and started with the lightest at ground level and worked my way darker as I went up the page. Once I had a pretty good blend between colors I then grabbed a bit of terry cloth and my bottle of colorless blender to add a bit of soft, diffused texture which helped to hide any areas that were not blended quite as well. Once the background was dry I had an idea that I wanted to try so i grabbed a q-tip and saturated it with colorless blender dropping the solution onto each of the large stars which gave them that glowing halo effect. I have to admit that all this playing around with the blender solution had me feeling pretty darn creative. ;)

Ok friends, be safe this long holiday weekend and have fun!

The world to me...

Hello, hello!

I hope everyone is fine and dandy today. I've got a long day ahead of me at work but I'm feeling pretty good.  Lots to do and get done, hopefully I will be able to cross a bunch of things off my to-do list.

My card today features an older stamp from Lili of the Valley called Milly me and my dog. I guess I've had her for quite a while because I couldn't even find the stamp on their site to link up to. I modeled this pair of sweet swingin' pals after my sister Tracy and her new pup, Jinx. Jinx is so cute, half Westie half Maltese, all white except for a sprinkling of light brown "freckles" on her ears. With the image being such a scene all by itself I wanted to keep the rest of the card super simple. I'm kinda falling in love with my dies again for this very reason, especially the stitched looking ones. They add a great finishing touch on an otherwise CAS design.

Alrighty, I guess I should go get myself ready... another day, another dollar.  :)

Joy to the world...

Olo!

Ok folks, we are officially less than ten days away from Christmas... what?! As a card maker I almost don't want to admit that at the top of my to-do list today is take Christmas cards to the post office for mailing. Yes, I am hanging my head in shame... shame I tell ya! Now all I can do is hope that the postal service isn't so busy that my cards get held up and arrive even later. Oy!

In the meantime, I'm going to keep plugging away on Christmas cards. Even if they don't get used this year it is nice to have a bit of a stash to start the next year with. Today's card features the Little Trumpet stamp from Lili of the Valley and scraps from my Christmas scrap bag. The rest are just a bunch of bits and baubs that were floating around my cluttered desk. Because I was using only things that were close at hand this card actually came together pretty quickly, which is always a good thing.

Alrighty, I'm out'ta here... laters! :)

Santa Claus comes tonight...

Hi guys!

Bet'cha thought I had frozen into an ice statue what with being MIA these past few days. While it is still feeling very sub-Arctic out there I've managed to stay fairly warm and cozy though I'm currently a bit under the weather... bleh. Luckily I've got a couple days off to try and kick this thing.

As for today's card, I have a cousin and he and his wife just had their first baby this year so I had to pull out this sweet Baby's First Christmas stamp from Lili of the Valley and make them something special. I paired him up with papers from the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday collection. Even though it was released a couple years ago it is still one of my all time favorite Christmas lines. The cut apart designs especially make for quick and easy cards that look like I put a lot more work into them than I actually did. ;)

Well, I'm going to go take some Dayquil and see how the day goes.

Merry Christmas to all...

Good morning!

Thanks everyone for all the sweet birthday wishes yesterday. It was a low key kind of celebration with my closest peeps, which is just how I like it. So a great day was had for sure. :)
Julye asked for the peppermint cheesecake recipe and we actually found it on Pinterest so here is a link for anyone interested in giving it a try. If you are a fan of peppermint then I highly recommend it this holiday season!

Alrighty, so this Christmas card is looking a bit different from the others I've made so far. The colors are definitely not your traditional red and green but I had this Winterland paper pad that I needed to cut into and cross off my list. The pretty pastels had me reaching for my Lili of the Valley stamps and this trio of darling angels where just what I needed to bring it all together. I used the Memory Box snow globe die to give the angels a home and instead of the gold accents I've been addicted to lately, I decided to change things up a bit and use silver thread instead.

Ok then, if you are experiencing the same cold snap that I am (overnight lows of 11 degrees and daytime highs in the mid thirties) then bundle up and have a great Friday!

TTFN!

Better with a friend...

TGIF everybody!

Last night I was in the mood to color while enjoying all of the new shows on tv. This premier week has been pretty good and while I have returning favorites, a few of the new shows have already hooked me in. Blacklist is probably my favorite new one so far, loved it and hope that it gets a decent run. How about you, any new shows to recommend or look forward to?

Because I had such a block of time to relax and color in I chose a Lili of the Valley stamp that has been on my desk begging for attention. It's called Story Time and I think it is adorable but coloring that whole scene was a bit intimidating so it always got pushed while I've been short on crafty time lately. I'm glad I finally got it colored though because I'm very pleased with how it turned out. And since I couldn't leave well enough alone I also added the puppy from the Me and my Dog stamp. My life is filled with either my dog or cat wanting to join me for a cuddle on the couch so I thought he was a cute addition to the card. :)

Okey dokey then, time for me to scoot. TTYL!

Bubble over with fun...

Hey there!

I got such a sweet surprise in the mail yesterday from my crafty pals, Heidi and her beautiful daughter Brooke, who sent me this adorable mermaid stamp from Lili of the Valley. I've had my eye on the LOTV mermaids for a while now but hadn't ordered any yet. So this out of the blue gift totally put a smile on my face and obviously got my creative juices flowing right away because here she is on a card already. Thank you SO much Heidi and Brooke! :)

When I get stamps like this, with little critter friends around them, I have a tendency to cut them apart and make separate stamps that I can then use together or alone. This was especially easy to do since the LOTV come unmounted. So even though I used all three of the seahorses that came with this little mermaid they are positioned differently and I like that freedom. I decided to keep the design CAS with just a bit of that paper to give me my color palette. And those new twinkle blooms that ATS just got in are even cooler in person... I liked that their shiny appearance could pass for sea anemones. There really isn't much more to it than that... cute, quick, and oh so fun to put together. :)

And with that I shall bid you adieu, to you and you and you... ;)

Greetings of the season

Wow!

I'm so glad that the world didn't end yesterday... it would have put a total cramp in my holiday plans, LOL! Though it did snow all day and it is expected to keep snowing all weekend so in a way I feel like I'm dealing with my very own winter Armageddon... is that too melodramatic? ;)

As I was making this card yesterday, and cleaning up my desk a bit as I'm trying to stay more on top of that, it dawned on me that I only have two more Christmas cards to make before the season ends this year... crazy! Two cards and it will be time for me to put away my Christmas embellies, papers and stamps until next year rolls around, I can hardly believe it. Now to figure out which two stamps will have a shot at getting on cards this year... the pressure!
This Lili of the Valley Christmas Robins stamp is actually another one that has been sitting on my desk for a couple of years waiting. It finally became the perfect time to color it up because I wanted to make a special card for my aunt who loves birds. Now I just have to brave the roads to give it to her along with her Christmas present. :)

I hope that everyone is having a great last weekend before the big celebration. I'll be working today and it should be busy, busy, busy which helps the day speed along.
Toodles!

A simple Christmas

Good morning!

So I am proud to report that I was pretty successful with my desk cleanup yesterday. It took longer than I expected but now I've finally got space to work again. There is still more to do in the rest of the room but that will have to wait for now. And since I didn't want to mess up all that hard work the card I made completely uses up stuff found in the mess.

First, I found this sweet scene from Lili of the Valley called, Away in a Manger, in a pile of stamped and ready to color images. It's on PTI cardstock so I know it's been waiting around for at least a couple years. The card base and gold paper both came from a pile in one corner of the desk and the brown paper strips were already punched... talk about quick! All I had to do was color then add a bit of twine and bling and the card was done. This one is going to be perfect for my grandparents as I know my grandma will really love it. :)

Well, it's Monday again and that means the Christmas rush is back on. Guess I should go get ready to tackle everything on the to-do list. Thanks for stopping by and I hope this new week is off to a great start for ya!

Spring blossoms

Olo!

Yeah, it's Saturday! And I've got this weekend off... there's no telling what kind of trouble I could get myself into. Though to be honest I'll probably just end up enjoying the sunshine and cleaning up the yard. I want to go into town and get some flowers for the flower pots by the front door, hopefully they have some great colors to choose from. The more orange and pink that I can find, the better. :)

So for today's card I actually inked up a new stamp that I just got this past week. Lili of the Valley recently had a free shipping deal that I took advantage of and I was happy to give this little Blossom a new home. Considering this used to be apple country, I grew up surrounded by the sweet smell of apple blossoms this time of year. And even though the orchards are fewer and further between these days, Blossom on her tree branch was totally calling to me.
I paired her up with the My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline paper pad because the soft pinks reminded me of apple blossoms and the wood grain kinda looks like the bins that we would use come harvest time. Just the right colors and textures for this tree climbing cutie.

Okey dokey ladies, enjoy your weekend! :)

Merry & Bright

Hello friends!

I finally watched the Pirates 4 movie last night and I gotta say that it was worth the wait... loved everything about it! The only bad thing is that now I'm really hoping there will be a 5th one because it seems like a lot of loose ends where still left hanging. There's just something about Captain Jack Sparrow that I find oddly appealing... must be the whole 'bad boy' thing. ;)

Anywho, I finally got around to making a card with the adorable Lili of the Valley Shine a Light stamp that I colored up for my Candle Glow video last month. I recently went through my scrap bags (which I normally sort by color) and pulled all of the Christmas paper scraps that I came across and put them in their own pile. This way I hope to use more of them up a lot faster than I have been. That's not to say I can't use new goodies as well, 'cause I sure haven't been able to resist picking up some of this year's fab paper releases, but I'm going to try and mix the old with the new. Which is exactly what I've done here... most of the papers are from an older Making Memories line but I added in the sheet with the sentiment printed on it from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 6x6 pad. I think it all works together and it was nice to see the paper pile get that much smaller. :)

Alrighty, time for me to make a cup of cocoa and go about enjoying this day off. No big plans, but I do need to try and get a few things done before this upcoming week of birthday revelry and Thanksgiving get-togethers.

Later gators! :)

Everything good...

Good morning!

I saw that the Flutter By challenge was open again this week and that made it super easy to play along. So I grabbed this adorable Lili of the Valley fairy and got busy creating.
I have fond memories of sitting in the yard and blowing dandelion fluff out into the breeze, never forgetting to to make a wish first. I loved watching the little seeds float and dance along... though now that I think about it, my mom probably didn't love seeing all those seeds go flying into her nice green grass! LOL
Anywho... I had this bit of dandelion print paper left over from a card kit that I got last spring and was happy to finally give it a perfect home, setting the scene for this sweetie. I kept the card pretty simple, though I did make my own dandelions by stitching together a few circles of tulle that I snipped all around the edges to make them fluffy. It was quite the crafty moment for me! ;)

Ok, time for me to go get ready for work... see ya manana! :)
