Love you lots...

TGIF my friends!

It's been a while but I inked up one of the pretty Girl stamps from Felicity Jane yesterday. I'm still bummed that they stopped making their stamps and kits a couple years back and that I still have a few of their Girl stamps missing from my collection that I really want to track down somehow. But in the meantime, it felt good to ink up Bailey Girl who is blowing kisses and create a Valentine's Day card with her. I paired Bailey with the Sketchy Corner Backdrop from Stamping Bella to give the scene an urban flair with lots of rosy pinks and warm colors. :)

Alrighty, I'm off. Have a good one!

A hug is all you need...

Hello friends!

I'm back on the Blogabella with a new Scenic Saturday card to share. My current card making mood has been leaning towards Valentine's Day, or rather more general themes of love and friendship. So it was that theme which I had in mind when searching for a stamp to be the star of the show today. When I came across Curvy Girl Vet, I fell in love with her armful of furry friends but I didn't need a vet themed card. I wasn't going to let that stop me from inking her up though.

When it came down to it, transforming this Curvy Girl Vet into a more generic cat lover was as easy as wiping the ink from the pocket on her shirt that held her stethoscope then simply drawing in the missing line. From there, just coloring her pants as jeans and adding a stripe print to the shirt transformed her scrubs into a cute and casual outfit. To help create a simple indoor background I stamped the floor lamp from the retired Room Decor Lamp and Frames set, slightly behind Curvy Girl. This, along with the little mouse shaped cat toy that I sketched onto the floor, were all I needed to set the cozy scene. The large sentiment was stamped onto an oversized word bubble die cut that fills the entire top half of the card for a fun change up to my usual scenes. Before gluing it to the card front I used a pair of scissors to cut down around Curvy Girl's head, allowing me to tuck the large word bubble behind her. A sprinkling of enamel hearts floating around these furry friends adds to the love theme that I initially set out to create. I hope this inspires you to look at the stamps in your Bella stash, that with a simple twist or two, can be transformed into something completely new.  :)

Stay crafty my friends!

The snuggle is real...

Hello friends!

I'm back on the Blogabella after the holiday break with the first Scenic Saturday of 2025. The snow has really been piling up since the new year began, which always makes me want to stay indoors and keep cozy. That feeling ended up being the inspiration for my card, especially when I came across this adorable Tiny Townie Loves to Snuggle in my stamp stash.

This sweet Tiny Townie, all bundled up in a big cozy blanket was giving me all the snow day vibes. She has some good books and her special kitty friend to keep her company while the snow continues to fall outside. To help showcase the weather outside I masked this Townie before stamping the large Winter Window over her. Now, this retired stamp originally comes with a large pine tree outside the window, but I chose to wipe the ink away from it which left me with the open space to add part of the Winter Backdrop stamp instead. Now she has a view of her neighbor's house, where it looks like they are keeping cozy as well. To add the fun patterning to Tiny Townie's blanket, I first colored a base coat using light purple and grey Copic markers, then I masked off the area around the blanket before laying a stencil over top and airbrushing a mid-tone grey over the stencil and blanket. Now it looks just like a fuzzy blanket that I got from Costco, LOL! The sentiment I used comes with Tiny Townie Loves to Snuggle and I simply stamped it on a speech bubble die before popping it up above her head to complete the scene.

Stay warm and stay crafty my friends!

Christmas is a feeling...

Hello friends!

I'm up on the Blogabella today with my final Scenic Saturday of 2024. I thought it would be fitting to end this year with a card featuring one of the most popular card making trends of 2024... postal themed. So I grabbed the cute little Oddball Carolers and made them the stars of this faux post card scene.

Now, the Oddball Carolers come as one single stamp but it was easy to cut them apart into three individual stamps so that I could mask and crowd them closer together into this smaller space. The most important thing to remember when doing this kind of layered stamping is to lift whoever is going to be in the back a little higher up. This gives the character the illusion of space, making them appear to be standing behind those in the front. Over on the fake postage stamp I added an ornament from the retired Little Bits Elves set and colored it to match the caroler's clothing. Once the coloring was complete I masked off the kids again, as well as the stamp and space that says 'post card' so that I could use my Copic airbrush system to spray on the kraft looking background color. I made sure to stop short of spraying all the way to the bottom of the card so it would look like the carolers had some snow to be standing on. From there all I had to do was add the various postage themed accents, a bit of falling snow and this fantastic sentiment from the Christmas Sentiment set to complete this fun holiday themed 'post card'.  :)

Toodles!

You are the happy to my holiday...

Hello friends!

I'm up on the Blogabella with a mix of old and new to create some serious Christmas cuteness for this week's Scenic Saturday. Tiny Townie Frida Loves Frosty is a Stamping Bella classic and it's been a few years since I've inked her up. To help set a frosty festive scene I grabbed the new Christmas Stories are the Best stamp and did the same selective inking trick that I did with the Tales from the Haunted Mansion stamp a couple months ago.

Because Frida and Frosty are quite large, I stamped them in the bottom corner of this A2 sized card front. I then masked them off before placing the Christmas Stories are the Best house high up in the opposite corner. By only applying ink to the house part of the stamp and omitting the stack of books that the original image rests on, it becomes a perfect backdrop rather than a focal point. The strategic placement of both stamps also creates a sense of scale between the two that successfully shows the distance between this cute pair of snow friends in the foreground and the warm and cozy home behind them. Traditional Christmas reds and greens pop prettily against the cool blue hues of the snow and sky and the small sentiment perfectly captures the story these two are telling.

Stay crafty my friends!

Christmas memories last a lifetime...

Hello, hello!

I'm up on the Blogabella with a sweet Christmas card that takes me back to my crafting roots for this week's Scenic Saturday. This joyful Lunettes Christmas Girl surrounded by all of her gifts, was stamped at a fun angle to make it look like she is popping into a holiday selfie. To help me come up with the perfect Christmas color palette for her, I decided to revisit my long neglected stash of pattern paper pads and let them help guide my choice of Copic markers.

Back in the day I started out as a scrapbooker and during that time I collected a lot of pretty pattern papers. When I transitioned over to stamping and card making I still relied heavily on those papers to create the design that housed the character stamps that I colored and fussy cut out. As my style evolved, I found myself using less and less papers and coloring entire backgrounds instead. Still, I think that using those papers as color palette inspiration while I was learning to color with my Copic markers was really beneficial in building my confidence in creating new color blends. So here I am letting this pretty Christmas stripe paper dictate all of the colors used on Lunettes Christmas Girl and her gifts, which creates a nice balance with the paper itself at the bottom of the card. The open space at the top of the card was the perfect place to add this large sentiment from the Festive Gnome Sentiment set stamped in red ink to coordinate back to the paper and the little holly embellishment that I added as a festive finishing touch to this sweet card.

Stay crafty my friends!

Merry Whatever...

Hello, hello!

I'm up on the Blogabella today and it's time for some serious, or not so serious, Christmas crafting on this Scenic Saturday. As I was looking through my stash of Backdrop stamps, it was the North Pole Backdrop that sparked inspiration. At first I thought about pairing it with some of the cute penguin stamps or maybe even a yeti but when I was flipping though the Oddballs this funny pile of dwarves, that are part of the Oddball Snow White and the Seven Dwarves set, were too cute to resist.

I'm always excited to find new uses for the stamps already in my stash, so the challenge of turning these dwarves into a group of exhausted Christmas elves was one I was eager to take on. I started by stamping the pile of dwarves first, then masking them off before stamping the North Pole Backdrop over top. Because I went with a mini slimline sized card the backdrop didn't extend the entire width of the card front. To fill the empty space on the right I shifted the stamp on my Misti and inked up just a single pine tree... it was the perfect fit. Once I removed the mask it was time to color and classic Christmas reds and greens play a big part in transforming these dwarves into over worked and exhausted elves. I like to imagine that it is Christmas day and while Santa is off on his yearly trip around the world, it's the one day that these guys get a break from all that toy making. To really drive home their 'holiday spirit' I chose one of the tongue in cheek sentiments from the Festive Oddball Sentiment set. All of which come together to put a smile on the face of even the biggest Scrooge.  ;)

Stay crafty my friends!

Happy Halloween...

Hey friends!

I'm up on the Blogabella and we are in that Halloween home stretch so of course I've got one last spooktacular scene for this week's Scenic Saturday card. I've been having so much fun mixing and matching old and new stamps that I decided to do it once again. This time around I inked up Tiny Townie Piper at the Pumpkin Patch and paired her with a twist on the new Tales from the Haunted Mansion stamp for a Halloween card that is too sweet to be scary.

Piper and her pumpkins were stamped first and because I wanted them to have a more Halloween vibe rather than Fall, I grabbed a 0.1 black multiliner pen and drew in some simple faces, transforming the pumpkins into glowing jack o'lanterns. The Haunted Mansion also got its own transformation when I chose not to ink up the books that the house rests on before stamping it into the background. This left me with just the mansion that I could then color into a spooky moonlit landscape. Omitting part of the original image on one and adding extra details to the other are both easy and effective ways to expand the uses for the stamps you already have in your crafty stash and have them help you tell a different story with them. Once Piper, the Haunted Mansion and the landscape were all colored in using Copic markers, I masked them both off before airbrushing the sky and full moon into the background. The sentiment from the Frightful and Delightful Sentiment set was stamped onto a word bubble die cut and glued just above Piper so that it would look like she is peeking out from behind those jacks with a friendly greeting. Hopefully this card has shown you how small changes here and there can have a big impact on the cards that you create.  :)

Stay crafty my friends!

Best Witches...

Hey friends!

I've got a new Scenic Saturday card on the ol' Blogabella today. Since the Holiday release hit the virtual shelves at Stamping Bella, I've been working my way through the trio of Oddball Witchy Sistahs and I'm ending the little series with Oddball Witchy Sistah 1. For the background I thought it would be fun to pair this fabulous witch with the Cottage on the Hill Backdrop and give it a creepy night time make-over.

Oddball Witchy Sistah 1 was stamped first, then masked before I stamped the Cottage on the Hill Backdrop high on the card front right over top her. Because the cottage itself is pretty tiny in comparison to our witch, placing it so high up gives us room to create the correct perspective between the two stamps. Once the mask is removed from Witchy Sistah, that cottage and even the hillside it rests on look be be pretty far behind her. I did have to extend the fence and hillside to the right of Oddball Witchy Sistah 1 by hand since the stamp was positioned far to the left but it was a simple thing to sketch in. When it came time to color, I thought she would look quite stunning with a head of silvery white hair, haloed by the light of the full moon. She's a powerful witch with a few centuries under her belt and at this point she has seen been there, done that with all things Halloween. The rustic fall orange of the treetop and the bushes create a nice visual triangle that helps lead the viewers eye right to our witch's face and her large spell book as the key point in this layout. Just don't stare too long into those big eyes or she will have you under her spell, LOL!

Stay crafty my friends!

Halloween is every day...

Hello there!

So the World Card Making Day celebration continues at Stamping Bella and you've still got through today to take advantage of the 10% OFF sale on everything in the store, including the newest release. Even better, all of the orders placed this weekend will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Stamping Bella store

Yesterday I went Live in my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page and colored this spooktacular scene pairing the fab Oddball Witchy Sistah 2 with the older Haunted House Backdrop stamp. We spent a fun afternoon bringing this Halloween night scene to life along with some reminiscing about the good ol' days of blogging and card making, LOL! Once the Live was over I put the card together and used another sentiment from the Frightful and Delightful Sentiment set to add a little message as a nice finishing touch. :)
