I'm back...

Well, all I can say is that it has been a while since I have posted here.

We have been travelling a lot, our latest trip to Tasmania was pretty mind blowing. We drove from Brisbane to Tasmania and back again. We stopped everywhere we could on the way there and on the way back. We camped in National Parks, we stayed in bed and breakfasts and motels. We did not book anything before we left which added excitement to our amazing adventures.

Here are just a few pics of what we saw in that beautiful and so very diverse countryside of ours.

Australia, you are so beautiful.

Not much time for any sort of craft, however I did take a crochet hook and some yarn...

...and found some really sweet paper flowers growing on the side of the road, exactly what I need to add to a crochet wreath.

Take care.

Cozy

Cold and raining in Brisbane today, so I thought I would find a spot in the lounge surrounded by colour and yarn and crochet away like an old granny!

Twirly bits ready to turn into flowers.

The beginning of my floralness and colourful creations.

Off for another cup of tea and smelling the roses on the way!

Have a lovely weekend.

Crochet ...

I have been totally inspired of late with all of the amazing crochet blogs out there. It has been a very long time since I have used a crochet hook, let alone had any wool in the house. Taught as a child and with a sniff of a challenge, inspiration takes over and I just have to follow through with this now.

What size hooks do you use for the ply of the wool? Hmmm... not as straightforward as I thought....Mum always used to use 4 ply wool...that's all I knew! I found this Australian site useful over here. I soon discovered that there are so many different types of wool out there now. All you knitters and crocheters will know what I am talking about. Pure wools, acrylic, cotton, alpaca, bamboo...the list is endless...and a new world for me.

So, I have been playing around with colours, checking my tension, stitches etc...

....seeking and finding inspiration from so many blogs including the creative Mrs Tiff 's blog

and over here at the colouful Lucy's blog Attic24

Hmmmm...I already have a polystyrene wreath which I could use...should I dare?

If you have any crochet tips and tricks on which wool you use, what works best for you I would love to hear from you.

Absolutely loving this wreath though!

Sunday Finds and in the Garden

I know I should be shopping for Christmas, but some handmade and vintage items caught my eye at the markets this morning.

Sweet and colourful hand crocheted flowers  - well that's what they look like to me!

They look quite cute threaded as a garland on a bit of jute twine.

A lovely silky oak suitcase that needs a bit of TLC.
No handle... and sticker marks all over it.

I love the warm richness of silky oak and I have never seen a suitcase made out of it before.

The clasps work fine, and with a bit of sanding and a new handle it will be given a new purpose in life...one day.

As I wandered around the garden on this summers day, I defiantly ignored the weeds that seem to just appear. The red hibiscus from the neighbour is still blooming...

...a white Agapanthus happily about to burst forth in flower and then I noticed something strange...

I had to look twice as I know that holly does not grow around here. I was taken back to England for a fleeting moment, reminiscing of the holly bush at Christmas time at my mother in laws house.
Freezing cold, fireplaces and snow falling...mmmm.

A bit uneven for holly on these rose leaves...and then I spied...

...the culprit...the biggest grasshopper ever and he was doing some serious damage!
When I first saw him his head was nestled right into one of my gorgeous roses.

Needless to say he does not live in the rose bush anymore.
Hopefully, he has found a lovely feast across the road, where he could stay forever!
Happy Sunday.

Inspirational Crochet...

A beautiful and very talented lady I know is going through a really tough time with her health at the moment.
I know she loves to crochet.
I lent her my Mollie Makes magazines.

Well, hey presto!

Without looking at the pattern she made this gorgeous aqua apple cover for me to use. I tend to take an apple to work each day so I will cherish this gift.

She has made a few of these now in all colours of the rainbow.
She tells me that this gesture has given her a new found insipration and keeps her mind busy as she goes through some not-so-nice health issues.

Life is too just too short isn't it?

Have a fabulous weekend and make the most of it.
