Programming Alert

Even more so than normally, blogging will be spotty, of questionable quality and most likely of the pre-scheduled heat'n' serve variety as we will be out of pocket the next couple of days and at sea aboard the good ship USNS MEDGAR EVERS (T-AKE 13) for sea trials.

We're hoping to be back live by Friday morning.

Ciao.

OK. Our first live post since we returned from a long weekend get-away to Joshua Tree National Park with family and friends. Please allow us to get our sea legs back as the Tree is, thankfully, an information-age black hole and other than being able to dial in some of the NCAA tournament games on the radio (VCU?!) we have no idea what is going on in the world.

We'll be back later today with, hopefully, something pertinent and/or topical.

Some of the kinfolk screwing around at the Hall of Horrors at Joshua Tree.

* Not Joshua Tree, rather a water tank that once served a now-defunct set of Southern Pacific tracks in the Anza-Borrego Desert in a picture we took earlier this month. Those are the Laguna Mountains in the background.

We'll be out at Joshua Tree for the weekend for one of our nephew's 21st birthday which means no more black-clad federales swooping down upon our campsite to issue general house-keeping citations among other things.

As it is then, you can expect light and scattered blogging for the rest of the weekend.

Ciao.

Blogging may be light for the next day or two as we are struggling with our annual set-your-clock-by-it mid-March mother of all head colds.

We may be out of pocket for the next day or so tending to personal business up in north Orange County. In the meantime posting will be spotty to light.

Before we go, though, please check out Tiger Lily's Island, a blog for men... about women.

We've given the staff the day off for this Presidents' Day so blogging will be light and/or farmed out to more capable hands.

Depending on the scenery we may share some photos later on of our mini-roadie today to San Diego's outback.

Folks, we're off for the weekend to take in the Breeder's Cup along with, of course, some college and pro football in the city that Harry Reid destroyed.

As you know us as the patriotic souls we are, we will be doing our darndest to implement a stimulus plan of our own to resuscitate this beleaguered city. With respect to our gaming prowess, we're all too often givers, unfortunately, but that's just the type of people we are.

Please tune in over the weekend as we will hopefully have some completely relevant heat'n'serve scheduled posts as well as some outside help.

Go Zenyatta, Go!!!

Starting today, we will be out on the road for a couple of weeks, enroute to kinfolk in Colorado and back.

In the meantime, we hope to have BwD populated with scheduled and recycled posts as well as that from some guest blogging and from the road as we've boldly entered the 21st century and purchased an air card for our laptop.

First stop, Prescott, Arizona.

Still a little bit more time to vote in our NYC Ground Zero Mosque poll.

We'll be out of pocket the rest of the day doing a San Diego brewery tour so blogging from here on out to the next 24 hours will be of the light to scheduled variety.

San Diego brewery tour.

It just felt good typing that. Careful - might happen again.

Told ya.

We are going to be out of pocket for most, if not all of the weekend, so blogging will be light if not non-existent for a day or so. Please check back in, though, for anything we might've had pre-packaged.

Have a great weekend.

We'll be out of pocket for the next couple of days, so posting may be of the scheduled, scarce and/or stale variety.

Hey, the weather is turning around here a bit in San Diego, is it not? Not that the rest of the country ever wants to hear a Diegan suggest that the weather ever has been something less than optimal. Fair enough, but those quakes keep persisting. A 5.7 on Monday night.

We'll be back live on Friday but check back in the meantime to see what we have pre-packaged.

We'll be out of pocket for the next couple of days taking in as much of the Anza-Borrego desert east of San Diego before it gets too hot.

We didn't line up anyone to do any guest blogging so posting will be of the scheduled and scarce variety.

We'll catch up again on Sunday evening or Monday

Everyone enjoy their weekend and please be safe out there, OK?

B-Daddy, proprietor of The Liberator Today has a new blog at, wait for it... B-Daddy's Other Blog. He'll still be blogging at TLT, so this division of labor reflects sticking with politics and the freedom agenda at TLT and allowing his mind to wander on subjects like management, IT, culture, sports, the Nature of God and other similar light fare.

"Change is good"... We hear that phrase far too often and we'd be pleased to know you are in our company if you find it as cringe-inducing as we do. However, "Change is change and neither inherently good nor bad" just does not roll off the tongue at management seminars as easily.

One of B-Daddy's first post is on the power of "No" and the churn and change for churn and change's sake in corporate America. Check it out here.

We'll be in Vegas for the weekend enjoying our annual mid-fall Breeder's Cup/Football weekend. And since we won't be back until Monday (staying over Sunday night while everyone and their bloodshot eyes are leaving Sunday morning/afternoon like rats leaving a sinking ship is kind of money), we have no earthly clue what is going to be thrown up on this site in the meantime.

At any rate, wish us luck with the ponies and the pigskinners.

We're headed out to the desert, Joshua Tree National Park to be exact, so for the next few days blogging will be of the stale, pre-packaged variety. Sorry.

We'll hook up again with you all live Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Hey, saw this rolling down Harbor Dr. yesterday.

So what are you doing Saturday? You’re going shopping, that’s what. And you are going shopping at Whole Foods… the Whole Foods in La Jolla, California to be exact.

The San Diego Tea Party chapter is organizing a Buy-cott of Whole Foods as a show of support for John Mackey its CEO and his editorial in the Wall Street Journal that called for free market reforms of the healthcare system.

B-Daddy has been quite unrepentant in his bro-mance with Mackey which he covers here but the summary of Mackey’s pitch is as such:

1. "Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts."
2. "Equalize the tax laws so that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits."
3. Allow competition across state lines.
4. "Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover."
5. "Enact tort reform."
6. "Make costs transparent."
7. "Enact medicare reform."
8. Revise tax law to make it easier to donate to those without insurance.

It’s like so full of common sense that of course it drove the urban limo libs to call for boycotts of Mackey’s stores.

Well, here’s a chance to stand up for a man who has been taking a much undeserved smacking around. Please join us and the rest of the unwashed but well-read as we converge on the LaJolla Whole Foods market at 11, Saturday, Oct. 10.

Oh, and there will be a blogging tutorial held concurrently at the WiFi-equipped café inside for you basement-dwelling, pajama-wearing fools or those who wish to become one.
