OH COME LET US ADORE HIM

This summer we went through our German Nativity set pieces and realized that something was going wrong.  Many of the pieces were just dissolving and there was no evidence of why or where the plaster composition was falling off - just gone!  We then paid a visit to the Doll Doctor who worked on our set.  This set was give to us from my husband's Mother.  It is from the German family that adopted her as a baby and we imagine it is over 100 years old.

The set is fairly extensive - it even has waxed paper Palm Trees.  I think there are 20 pieces beside the creche itself.

We visited Bethlehem in 1999.  My Mother In Law paid for her 2 sons and their wives to go.  I remember visiting The Church of the Holy Nativity which overshadows the place where it is believed that Jesus was born.

I love the story of Mary:
Matthew 1:20b-21   ......the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Joseph) in a dream, saying, Joseph thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:  for he shall save his people from their sins.

the story of the shepherds:
Luke 2:8-12
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon the, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

the story of the wise men:
Matthew 2:1-2
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews?  for we have seen his star in he east, and are come to worship him.

Vs 11  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him:  and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold and frankincense, and myrrh.

I hope you will take a few moments during the Christmas Season to reflect on what Christmas is all about!
