Saturday Song
Auntie M. pointed out to me yesterday that I love to cry. She's right. And this one helps bring the tears every time.
...the great relief of having you to talk to.
I smile at the "a quarter of my life is almost past" line. More like half. And middle age is lovelier than I ever could have imagined.

Mary J. can jus' go on with her ol' redeemed self.... It's 'cause she knows the meaning of this:
that she can write and sing this:

Saturday Song
TO: Barack Obama
FROM: At least one left-wing voter with justa little bitta hope left
RE: An 80's gem for ya:
You turn me on, you lift me up
Like the sweetest cup I'll share with you
You lift me up, don't you ever stop, I'll be here with you
Now it's all or nothing
'Cause you say you'll follow through...
You follow me, and I, I, I follow you
What you gonna do when things go wrong?
What you gonna do when it all cracks up?
What you gonna do when the love burns down?
What you gonna do when the flames go up?
Who is gonna come and turn the tide?
What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?
Who's got the touch to calm the storm inside?
Who's gonna save you?
Alive and kicking.
Stay until your love is, alive and kicking.
Stay until your love is, until your love is, alive.

Saturday Song
This song was playing on the radio as the children and I pulled out of the Alabama subdivision to drive to the Midwest. Seems fitting.

So what's your favorite Dave Mathews Band song? I would have never thought of a Picard/Crusher angle, but then there's very little that ain't on the Youtubes...

Just a reminder, mostly to me, that Crowded House is on Austin City Limits tonight on some PBS stations.
Here's Neil Finn and Sinead O'Connor doing one of my favorite CH numbers...after the long weekend, they were a lifetime together....yeah baby.

Saturday Song
I usually don't like the new song/old movie mashups littering YouTube, but this one works. Something about the deep dark sound of ubertrash Amy Winehouse, and the gorgeous high camp movies of Elizabeth Taylor, they go together like coffee and pillow talk. (Scott Simon is back on NPR this morning, he's the single thinking girl's best boyfriend. mmmm.)

Saturday Song: Gin Blossoms
I'm off to DC this morning for the Americans United blogger meet-up. More later, until then, here's one of those songs that sounds happy, sounds sad, and on headphones is just plain real...
Happy Birthday to my youngest sister. I love you, sweetie.
