Kangaroo Jack Steaks and Grill

Good Morning! Please pardon the pictures . They were taken with a celfone camera so they're not as sharp...

Adobo Rolls (P99)
Pork adobo bites, carrots and mint wrapped in tortilla and dipped in adobo sauce. They are good but could've been better if they put in adobo flakes instead and they made the sauce a little more tangy.

an entry for.

Potato Chowder (P55)
It was very creamy and I love the taste but the serving was too small. It was just half of this bowl...
Hungarian Sausage (P129)
Sausage, java rice and some steamed veggies. This was sissy's order..
Aglio Olio Spaghetti (P99)
Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic anchovies and capers. Simple yet wonderful.

North Park Noodles

Because it was peanutbutter's Birthday Celebration I asked him where he would like to eat and he said he wanted to eat at North Park Noodles because it has been a while since he ate there.peanutbutter loves Chinese, I don't. It was my first time to eat here and frankly Flavors of China is enough for me.

Tea
It is a chinese custom to serve tea before and after a meal. Ours was brought before the meal. I read somewhere that this is " to clear the dust from your mouth before starting the meal."

 Soup
Ykaie loves soup and she finished this soup, literally.

Fresh Prawn Dumpling (P143)
I always order Ha Kao in Chinese restaurants and you will not go wrong with this one.Specially if you put chili sauce in it before eating. Succulent shrimp inside soft steamed dumpling.

North Park Special (P225)
This is North Park's special fried rice with sauce. The sauce is served separately from the fried rice.

This is the Fried Rice's Sauce
First time I encountered this type of fried rice.I've read that Fukien Fried rice are served with sauce or gravy on top. The sauce is like soup with a mixture of mushroom, meat slices, fish fillets, tofu, siomai and carrot slices.
It's weird but it tastes good with the fried rice.

Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu Fillet (P260)
It is tender and juicy but the sweet and sour sauce is kinda thin. Flavors of China's is better.

Honey Garlic Pork Spareribs (P220)
The pork is tender, sauce is nice. Not very garlic-ky though.Just a sprinkle of fried garlic on top.

Minatamis na Kamoteng Kahoy at Sago (Sweetened Cassava with Tapioca Pearls)

Cutting up on sugar backfired and I craved for this. The power outage yesterday afternoon gave me a chance to cook. It was a good thing for my tastebuds but a bad thing for my business. But it was a two hours well spent, anyway.

Ingredients:
2 pieces large cassava, cut up or sliced any way you want it
3 cups white sugar
5 cups water
4 cups cooked tapioca pearls
¼ cup brown sugar

Directions:
  • Dissolve brown sugar in ½ cup of water . Add Tapioca Pearls and set aside.
  • Steam cut up cassava until tender.
  • Heat a small pot, dissolve the white sugar in water.
  • Simmer until it turns into simple syrup.
  • Add cassava and mix well until cassava is coated with syrup.
  • Serve with the sweetened tapioca pearls

IceBreaker's Scramble

Ice Breaker Scramble has branches in Victory Mall,Caloocan and Malabon City Square.

Lechon Kawali

The theme for today's Lasang Pinoy Sundays is : hip to be SQUARE

Is this square enough?

Mukha bang square?

Magandang araw ng Linggo! Sana ay nabusog ko kayo....

BREAD-y or not

There's this bakery in monumento called The Street Corner Bakery. This is like a "sosyal" local "panaderya". The French Baker meets Panaderya ni Aling Juana type of store.

They have pizza, dark rye slices, calzone and whole wheat bread but at the same time they also offer local favorites found in the real street corner bakeries like pandesal, pan de coco, spanish bread, kababayan and pan de regla.Isn't that great?

They also put your pandesals and pan de cocos in a sealed plastic bags separately like they do in high-end bread shops like The French Baker.

Have a BREAD-y Sunday everyone!

Eat's a WRAP!: Shawarma

Shawarma is a Middle -Eastern, Arabic style sandwich which is usually composed of shaved lamb, goat, chicken, turkey, beef or a mixture of meats. It is made up into a sandwich using pita bread or lafa and adding cucumber, tomato, onion, cheese, dressing and at times, french fries.

I love love love love -- LOOOVE Shawarma! I'll certainly buy one if I see a store selling it, just to have a taste. Different stores have different recipes. Some beef are marinated so they taste sweet -- and I also love them that way!

The Shawarma above was brought from Boy Ching Woo, one of the oldest chinese restaurant here in Caloocan City famous for their specialty, Pancit Shanghai.

Hope you guys have a great Sunday!

Eyecandy: Kuhol

Kuhol is Yema Balls dipped or wrapped in caramelized sugar that has assumed the shape of snails. This is one of my favorite pinoy candies.
Before, I can only buy this when we travel to Laguna but now there's a small store at the mall where you can always buy this for P102.00 per pack.

Happy Sunday everyone!
