WSC32 - Beate's Sketch

Good evening! It's been awhile so I thought tonight would be a good night to post a new card I just made over the weekend for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge (WSC32). When I saw the layout I knew exactly what I wanted to do - which doesn't happen very often! I might have to try this sketch again this week! It's very versatile!

Recipe:
Set: Happy Heart Day
Ink: Black Stazon, Blue Bayou
Cardstock: Blush Blossom, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky DSP, Whisper White
Accessories: Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon, SU Brads, Marvy Rectangle Scallop Punch, Circle Punches (SU) Horizontal Slot Punch, Blender PEN, SU Markers

Have a wonderful night! Were expecting some VERY cold weather starting tomorrow.

It wasn't pretty but...

The #11  ranked Badgers beat Michigan tonight to move to 6-0 in the Big Ten Conference, and 16-2 overall...

The game recap can be found at ESPN.com\ (I'm actually at a loss for words after this one, not much to write about except the fact they won)

Hey, we have ONE basketball team in the state that can win on a consistent basis...

Looking forward to this weekend, as I have TWO Badger Hockey games on Saturday to go to!

Have a good night! More stamping tomorrow...

My Stampin Space...

Good Evening!
Thought I would post a picture of my stamping space - when it's clean (LOL!). Most of my goodies are in sight here, behind the desk is a twin bed that I keep all my extra stuff "kind of organized" on. The SU stamps on the left shelf are current, and my retired sets are on the right shelf. My favorite drawer is in the bottom right hand corner, where I keep all my punches...although I need a new spot for those. I also have a different chair now. but that's about the only thing that has changed since I took this picture (well, there is a FEW more stamp sets on the shelf!)  My dad put the shelves up for me about 3 years ago, They were pretty inexpensive. :D

Have a great night! Laura Jean

Chipboard Box...

Hello! Happy Friday! Thought I would share a project I worked on tonight. Earlier this week my SU Group Leader (Suzanna) asked me if I would do a chipboard demo at our next down-line meeting in February after seeing the LOVE chipboard I posted earlier this week. Is that cool or what? So this is the first project I came up with for the demonstration. To get the green "B" I all I did was rub my Certainly Celery ink-pad on the chipboard. I didn't cover it completely, to give it a little bit of a worn look. The project also uses a stamp from the SU So Many Scallops set, which is available during SAB beginning 2/1! The box measures 4X6, and then it's 2" deep :) I cut it from one sheet of 12X12 cardstock. :)

Project Supplies:
Set: So Many Scallops
Paper: Certainly Celery & Bashful Blue, Cutie Pie DSP
Ink: Certainly Celery & Bashful Blue
Access: On Board Simon Lower Chipboard, scallop punch, circle punches (1.25 & 1 3/8), Crop-A-Dile, Jumbo Eyelets (I'm using these like crazy lately!), Bashful blue grossgrain, Bashful Blue gingham, FairyTale Ribbon Originals, Soft Subtles Brads

Have a great night!  Go BADGERS tomorrow night! They are home against Northwestern!

Bucky Goes to 4-0!

Evening everyone,
Happy to report, the Badgers won @ Penn State 80-55 last night. It was a good game to listen to that's for sure (would have been more fun to watch, hello Charter Communications are you reading this???). Michael Flowers (left) set a career high in points (23).

The only downer on this game was that Penn State's best player went down for the season with a MCL Injury (Claxton). Claxton was their leading rebounder, and for the most part their best player. I'm not sure if it helped Wisconsin that he was out just 7 minutes into the game, but you never want to see any player get hurt, even if it's on the opposing team. (well, ok I can make 1 or 2 exceptions - TO would be one of them!)

Tomorrow night I will have another card to post...I Just got my SAB pre-order today (as a SU Demo I can pre-order the month before SAB sets are available to customers). I ended up getting So Many Scallops and the Rub-Ons. So tomorrow (and this weekend) I'll show off a few cards/projects using that stuff! Have a great night!

A little L-O-V-E

I'm not big on Valentine's Day, but I got this idea the other night (last week actually) and ran with it so to speak. I think it turned out cute. It would have been done sooner but I lacked the Groovy Guava Ribbon to finish it off. The chipboard hearts are about 3.5 inches tall each, so the entire word is a little over 12 inches long. I used the new SU Ginger Blossom DSP, Stamped the letters out in Ruby Red with the Big Deal Alphabet, and attached those with dimensionals. On the "O" and the "E", if you look closely, I used the Build-A-Brad for a little extra embellishments. And to tie in the ribbons, I used the extra large SU Pewter Eyelets (I love these!)

This will go to my mom to hang up in her kitchen :) Thanks for looking!

Another preview

From the "experts":

BUCKY BASKETBALL ON THE ROAD

Another Monday has come and gone. So which brings us to what is going on tomorrow night...you got it, mens badger hoops! They'll be going for win #14 on the season at Penn State. Today Coach Bo Ryan addressed the media (as Badger Coaches do normally during the season).  You can find some of his comments at www.UWBadgers.com I always am a little cautious watching any Big Ten team try to win on the road. It's tough to win on the road anyways, but the Big Ten plays those grinding games, where teams like to use the entire shot clock (I'm a supporter of the NBA and College using the same shot clock - which doesn't happen now but I think it should change - and I am probably in the minority). Look, if the NBA wants to push the ball up and down the floor, they can do it just as much with a 35-second shot clock as they can a 25 second shot clock. I also don't understand why the NBA plays quarters and college plays halves (It's not that way in football, baseball, hockey or any other college sport that has a pro-sport parallel). Just my two cents. I am sure the "powers that be" are reading this with much interest!

Once again, (and this will be for the rest of the season for the Badgers) the key is to get Brian Butch involved inside. I really think the offense gets going when you have an inside player, especially in the Big Ten that can get in the paint and have success. It would also be nice to see Trevon Hughes play the way he did in the Illinois game next week.

The game starts at 8pm and of course, it's a BigTenNetwork game, which means I will be listing to Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas on the radio (which is the way Badger Basketball should be listened to by the way!) Have a super night...

I have a card to share too today, (see I can do something on a Saturday besides watch basketball and football).

This is for the Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC158). I loved this DSP from the L1 Retired Simply Scrappin Kit from SU (Creative License). So here are the ingredients:

Stamp Set: Zoofari, Fundamental Phrases
CS: Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Blue Bayou, Black Stazon
Accessories: Ticket Punch, In Color Double Stitched Ribbon, Blender Pen, Lg Oval Punch, Word Window Punch

Happy Saturday!

It's Packer Playoff Saturday, and need I say GO PACK GO? I'm hoping Brett and Company can lead the packers to victory. Should be a good game. It was snowing earlier this morning, so I'm curious to see what the conditions will be like in Green Bay. Until then, I'm watching the Washington State/UCLA Basketball game.

Moosing You...Grandma

Greetings, and happy weekend!
So glad the weekend is finally here. It's been a long week at the office, packing, moving and unpacking again today! So exhausted, but I wanted to put a post on here about something that happened yesterday amongst all the chaos.
Yesterday I decided to take a lunch outside of the office, and head over to McD's. I walked over (as I always do) and going in the place in front of me was a middle aged woman, and who I assume was her mother, For those of you that don't know, My Grandma, Mother and I used to go to McDonalds every Thursday, after Grandma got her hair set at the beauty parlor. It was our afternoon out together, and it was always special. So as I saw this lady and her mother walk in together, I couldn't help but have flashbacks of all those trips with Grandma and My mom. my grandma is no longer with us (she lived 98 years - something any of us I think would take these days!) but as I sat there eating my cheeseburger (no pickles), small fries, and child sized orange (just as grandma ordered) I nearly broke down just thinking about those days. So this card is not so much a general "HI" card, as it is a "Hi there, I'm moosing you grandma".  Enjoy....

SU Sets: Moose You, (word set I cant remember)
INK: Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel (sponging)
CS: Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel, Wanted DSP, Whisper White
Access:  Word Window Punch, Large Oval Punch, Slot Punch, 5'8" Choc Chip Grossgrain, brads, ticket corner punch, sponge

BTW...the Badgers pulled off the Victory last night, as I thought, Butch had a great inside game going, and Trevon Hughes came through with a strong game.

Bucky Hoops Vs Illini tonight!

Evening!

It's getting to be time for Badger Hoops, against Illinois @ the Kohl Center (here in Madison).  So why aren't I there? Oh because it's the toughest ticket in town these days (no offense football team). Of course, it wouldn't be a Badger Basketball night without a little wet weather (yep it's snowing here).

I think the Badgers will do well tonight against IL, The photo to the left is of John Leuer, who had 25 points @ Michigan and more recently 7 points in 14 minutes against Iowa. Coming off the bench he's giving the Badgers a really good look as far as the outside shot (3-ball) goes. He's also shooting 7 of 8 beyond the arch in big-ten games so far, which as a team, the Badgers have really been missing. I'm hoping to continue to see Brian Butch be aggressive in the paint tonight as well. In the Big Ten, you need a "big go to guy" down low to be successful in the conference and I think Butch can be that guy. Not that Landry is not doing well down there, but he is more of a slasher-type player, and Butch can take up some real-estate down there.

Well, those are my thoughts for a successful game! Go BADGERS! :)

It's BRRR outside

It's BRR cold outside up here in the badger state. The temperature is about 17 but it doesn't feel like it. I could really feel the wind ripping as I walked home (and I can hear it now as I type away). So what else than to share one of my recent winter cards with you. I used the rock-n-roll technique on this one for the snowflake (SU Snowfall set). Colors used were Blue Bayou and Sage Shadow, along with the Retired Wintergreen DSP (so glad I ended up getting that!) I used Blue Bayou Stitched Ribbon, and a sparkly brad (Making Memories). The little tag was made with A to Z Accents (SU). I also used some gold cord (retired). Snowfall has been one of my most used sets this winter. I'm always wanting to cut out the big snowflake in the set! I cut 3 of those out last night for a SCS Winter cello bag swap.

Maybe next time it's this cold out I will post a pic of something a little warmer! :)  Have a super night!
