Captain Kai's Video of the Week - 12 - Red Bull Hare Scramble - Tiny People

Never mind the fact that this is a nuts event. The video is simply amazing. You could be forgiven for thinking you are watching a fully animated Dinky Car production. Creative use of time lapses and very wide shots make this video seem unreal.

Check out all of the little people battle it out at Erzberg Rodeo moto enduro event in Austria as part of the epic Red Bull Hare Scramble 2011.

For more rattling two-stroke engines, smoking machines, loud rock-music, the smell of gasoline, dust-covered faces, muddy boots, the absence of any traffic rules and a crazy show of fanatic motorsport-enthusiasts, head over to...

Red Bull X-Fighters - Rome 2011

Rome, Italy -- The wave would not stop rolling through the Stadio Olimpico crowd as Nate Adams and Andre Villa were revving up for the start of the final showdown battle on two wheels. When it finally did, Adams got off 18 flawless jumps within the 120-second time limit to win over the five-member gladiator jury, picking up his fifth victory in the 11-year history of the Red Bull X-Fighters. "Now I'm going for the Tour title," the 27-year-old American said afterwards. "It was the most difficult win in my career after I had a crash in Qualifying."
On the biggest FMX course ever built in Italy -- with 11 kickers and 8 dirt landings -- the athletes pushed themselves to their limits, jumping distances of up to 30 meters and as high as 15 meters. Co-favorite Dany Torres (ESP), who won in Rome last year, sent a shiver through the big crowd when he crashed at the end of a botched landing in the second round. His bike veered off the course and into a barrier. "I came here with five broken bones that weren't quite healed but nevertheless won the Qualifying round," he said.

XFighters Brazil 2011 - Nate Adams takes the Win

I previewed the Brazil leg and boy the guys did not let me down! Nate Adams with the win, but plenty of great riding! Check out the size of the crowd, it was mental!

600 truckloads of dirt were used to turn the "Esplanada dos Ministerios" in the heart of Brasilia into the playground for the best FMX athletes of the age.

Nate Adams of the United States pulled off the best tricks on Saturday to win the second stop of the 2011 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour in Brasilia (Brazil) in front of the greatest crowd in FMX history.

Robbie Maddison (AUS) was defeated by Adams in the final showdown in the Brazilian capital city that was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. Andre Villa (NOR) took third place.

Captain Kai's Video of the Week - 6 - Silent Trial Bike

Raga caning his normal Petrol Version
Unbeknown to me, April 27th, was International Noise Awareness Day. Luckily, thanks to the peeps at Red Bull, I came across this video of team rider Adam Raga. He wanted to do something special for this important day and decided to take a film crew along as he rode an electric bike through the beautiful Valley of Silence in El Bierzo, in Northern Spain. I found it kind of strange to be honest, as I have been programmed to hear that rumble of an engine. It has to be quite strange to be riding along and when you rev there is just this light whistling noise. Any way, its an amazing video, beautifully shot and edited!

Dirtpipe - BMX dirt riding on a giant scale!

BMX goes HUGE!
I had to watch this twice, just to make sure it was real! How crazy is this course they built? I mean usually it's the Americans who cant help but build the largest craziest stuff, but this time out the Aussies take the prize! We really need to start doing something similar here in SA, we have the terrain and the riders - er hem, Red Bull! Enjoy!

Where the trail ends - A Freeride Movie

Ok, so watching the crazy antics of some guy riding a mullet event in Chile, inspired me to see what was out there movie wise for Freeriding. This is what I cam across through Red Bull.
So dam pretty! (Photo: Red Bull)
Freeride Entertainment, producers of the New World Disorder series, are pleased to announce the beginnings of a new project taking mountain biking back to the roots of freeriding.

Where the trail ends... is the start of a new feature film based on the natural terrain progression of riding in remote international locations. Freeride is excited about their new project which started deep in the Gobi desert in China earlier this year.

Featured riders from this first expedition were Darren Berrecloth, Kurt Sorge, and James Doerfling.
