Fabulous Find Friday 8-10-12

I have been a long time customer of GG Designs because their embroidery designs are so cute!  Check out the new free download for hair inchies.  Just in time for back to school too!  I wish I had one stitched up to show you all but I have been laid up with a blown knee for a week and a half.  We are talking crutches and old lady walking.  Just what I needed!  Worse yet, the sewing and craft room is down a steep set of stairs so no way can I get to my embroidery machine.  But if you can get to yours, download this freebie and have fun stitching it up.  Diana

Head Bands

This is what I do in the evenings when I am watching tv and can't quit fidgeting.....make headbands.
I love to combined different colors and see what I get.
Pink and green, yellow and orange (Halloween), so many combos.
Some ribbons and a glue gun.....and a little girl can have a headband for every outfit.  Diana

I have been seeing these braided ribbon head bands at local festivals and in cute little boutiques. I knew I could make them myself so this is my first effort. It is cloudy outside so it is difficult to see that it is made from red and white ribbon. It cost about 2 dollars to make and the supplies and instructional videos are available at

Braided Head Band

I have been meaning to try my hand at the cute braided head bands seen in boutiques and craft fairs. It did take a few false starts but eventually a pattern did emerge! Because it is cloudy outside it is difficult to see that the colors of the ribbons are white and red. I will definitely be trying a few more combinations as soon as I get more ribbon. The total cost was about $2.oo and the supplies can be obtained HERE . They also have instructional videos available on utube! This goes fairly quick once you get the pattern down and is something you could do watching TV in the evening! Diana

Watermelons and Ladybugs

Summer is getting closer and closer! Here in Ohio we are already seeing the ladybugs and it won't be long before I am starting my seedling for the garden. So how cute are these little hair inchies that beg summer to hurry and get here! Made out of felt, these designs are available from GG Designs.
I don't remember where I got this design. The leaf barrette cover is from GG.
Here are all the ones I made yesterday. The bunnies will be great for Easter. How bright and cheerful these will look in the hair of one of our cuties! Diana

Shamrock Inchies

This is how I will be keeping some of my grandchildren pinch proof on St Patrick's Day. The designs are from GG Embroidery Designs.
I made these hairbows out of white and green felt.
I also made a couple pins for the boys to wear. Hope this keeps them all safe! Diana

More inchie Bows

More Inchies!!!! I am absolutely in love with these little guys! And all in pink too! Pretty, pretty, pretty..... I used the snap clips for these instead of the aligator ones. I like the shape a bit better.
This one is a mix of felt and fabric. Topped with a button and it is toooo cute.
Another owl (can you have too many....I think not).
A bunny for Easter or just because. How sweet these will love in a little girl's hair. Diana

I was inspired by the wreath found here http://theprettypoppy1.blogspot.com/2010/07/pretty-little-rosie-wreath.html to make hairbows for my girls. It was really easy. A few pieces of felt, hot glue, alligator clips, and a couple minutes later we had some cute hairbows.

Inchie Hair Bows

Aren't these cute!!!! I really love the owls. I found these alligator clip covers and the owl inchies at GG Designs Embroidery. This company is in Australia and I love the designs. The covers are for 1 7/8 inch clips.
They have a lot of different inchies to choose from and the prices are great, even after you figure in the exchange rate. Just remember to add about 1% to your total to come up with the US dollar equivalent. If you use paypal they do the calculation for you!
I added some buttons to this cover. Not entirely happy with them but I guess they are OK. Diana

Girly Bows

First attempts at something can be pretty frustrating. And these hair bows were no exception! I know I can do better but I guess these came out OK.... I did learn a few tricks that will definitely make the next ones go easier. I watched a few videos but the bows were a lot harder to manipulate than the lady made it seem.
This is my favorite cuz it went together the easiest!
These are little tuxedo bows!
Simple bow but I like the colors. Another tuxedo bow. I cut off the shanks of all the buttons to make them lay flat. Each bow is attached to an alligator clip and has sure grip strips also. I will attempt these again so stay turned to see how it goes.......Diana
