A 2 sheet larger box freebie...

There are plenty of boxes available (some of them here), but most are tiny, 1 piece of paper boxes.  Sometime I need something bigger, and I bet you do too.  This carrier carton is approx. 5-3/4" long, 3-1/2" wide and 3 inches tall, plus headroom.  It would fit a couple of muffins or cupcakes nicely. It uses two sheets of paper (print twice).  It looks like this:

You can download the template jpg for this box here, and the png here.

Easter is coming, so you might want to grab my "bunny box", if you haven't got it already.  You can find it here.here.  All my boxes can be found in this folder here.

ENJOY!  Kat D.

"Make a Statement" Gift Box Template Freebie

I'm so happy, the sun is out and I'm going to plant the last of my fall bulbs.  It's been snowy and cold up here on the mountain, so this may be my last chance.  I've just been waiting for it to warm up a bit before I go out, so I decided to quickly finish up a project so I could share it with you.

I call it the "Make a Statement Box".  There are two templates, one with an arrow and one without.  They are very similar to the chair-back box I posted awhile back.  This has a flat back area to play with.
You can see I did one with the arrow, and one without.  I cut out the heart shape on the pink box with a punch, and added the butterfly.  I really like how the shadow looks, don't you?
I didn't get as creative as I'd like, since I just put these together for examples.  But with Christmas looming in the near future, I'm sure you can come up with some cute ways to use this box!
You can download the box with arrow template here, and the plain version here.

Yeah, I know, I could just glue a back to a regular box, but what fun is that?!?
Enjoy!  Kat D.

A Cute and Simple Bunny Box Freebie for You!

Hello all you crazy crafters!  And you sane ones, if any exist! Ha!

I was looking for a simple bunny papercraft, and didn't see what I needed, so I whipped up this simple box with cut outs for your Easter treats.
Here's what the template looks like:
Preview Only, Download Templates below
You just cut out the paws and feet with an exacto knife (you'll probably do a better job than me, my hands really shake!).  You can decorate them before or after (I did after I built the box, and it shows!), or let the kids have fun with it.  I designed the template so the bottom flaps cover where the legs are cut out.  (Just be careful with the glue, so it doesn't pop out the holes.)  There are tiny holes where the paws pop out, so if you have very tiny treats, you might want to tuck them in tissue paper or put them in a plastic bag.

I had a lot of fun with this project, it being the first I've done in awhile.  I'm finally feeling much more perky and creative, so I hope I can get a few projects in before planting season arrives!

HERE ARE THE FREE BUNNY BOX TEMPLATE LINKS:

For the small (half page) bunny box (shown), go to BOX: Small Bunny Cutout Box
For the large (full page) bunny box, go to BOX: Large Bunny Cutout Box
And to view all my freebie folders go to Kat's Freebies

Have fun with it!  Send me links via Comments if you or your kid makes a cute version of this box.  And remember, your comments always make my day!
Enjoy, Kat D.

Pointy House papercraft gift box templateFREEBIE from me to you.

Hi there, sorry I haven't been around.  Last week was a bad one (ill, smashed foot, little sleep, stuff like that), so I just didn't feel like playing.  Yesterday I decided I needed to make something new to share, and I'm glad I did, it was the most fun I've had in days.
I guess I have a "thing" for boxes and paper houses.  I was looking at the many templates I've collected, and there are tons of them out there, but I wanted to make something slightly different.  I came up with a simple "house box" (though the shape could be used otherwise, I sure) that I call "pointy house" (gee, I'm so clever ... not).  It gave me the opportunity to use up some of the tons of scrap paper I have left from other projects.

I made it with tabs for making little houses, etc., but once enclosed it wouldn't be much good as a gift box.  So I cut off the tabs on the next one, and punched holes near the top to tie with ribbon. (Use two ribbons, criss-cross them, gather them up and make a bow.) That worked well, though I'm sure there are other cute ways to close it up.  Then I used my scraps to decorate it.  I made some panels for the roof, so I decided to include panel templates (walls and roof) on an alternate template page.   (These are 98% of the original side, but in the one pictured I actually made them slightly larger than the roof sides. Just so you know, it wasn't the best way to go.)
Here is a thumbnail of the template:
Print this "fit to page".  It's made for a 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock. You can download a png file or a jpg file of either with or without panel templates at BOX or 4Shared.  As usual, it is free for personal use. If you do a project with this and post it on your blog or website, share a link!  Thanks, and ENJOY! - Kat

FREEBIE ALERT!!!
NEW & IMPROVED - Fireplace box

I wasn't all that happy with the fireplace gift box papercraft I posted a couple weeks back.  Besides being a bit too basic and square, it came out much darker than I planned.  Seems I have the brightness cranked up high on my monitor (more of my bad eyesight).

As I saw it stated somewhere "It's amazing what you can accomplish when you are supposed to be doing something else"... I have a ton of work to do for my "real job", plus all the Christmas stuff I have to make, so here I am re-doing something I don't really need.  But, hey, they will hold some of the candy treats I hope I have time to make!

My camera is still not working, so I drew up a small rough sketch of how the box should look once assembled:

It is now more of a rectangle, brighter, the marble "mantle (box top)" came out nicer, and now there is an optional chimney to add on top.  It is still far from perfect, but what the hey, it's free!

You can download the template for this RECTANGLE FIREPLACE BOX/W CHIMNEY  papercraft at 4-Shared or BOX.  Enjoy!  - Kat

FREEBIE ALERT!

Hello out there!  I'm finally back online after 4 months, no internet.  We were going to wait and move the dish we already have along with the business , but the house still hasn't sold yet, and our business website (http://steelthundercc.com)  needed much updating.  I actually got connected a week or so ago, but made myself stay away from the blog so I could get "real work" done.  What with paying two mortgages and two sets of electric, oil, phone, etc. bills, I've really got to put my nose to the grindstone and try to make some cash.

I've also had no TV all this time, but don't really miss it, except maybe for Glee.

That didn't keep me from poking my nose around the net to see what was new.  I found a few things I want to share with you all, and this one just can't wait.  It is perfect timing before the holidays, for all of you who are making your own gift packaging.  It is a FREE TEMPLATE MAKER!  It makes a couple of basic shapes of boxes and envelopes, too.  Check it out at the Ideogram website.  What fun!

I've got more to share, but ta-ta for now.  So happy to be back!  - Kat

Oh, dear.  I was just watching the Today Show and got the surpising (to me) information that THIS WEEKEND was Father's Day weekend.  I would have gotten this 3-d project up earlier if I had realized (unfortunately, our Dads and Granddads are long gone). So, without further fanfare, here it the box template project I promised.  It's simple, maybe even a bit primitive, but I think it would make a cute box for a small gift (my Dad always liked candy!).

It's fairly small.  Print "Full Page" on cardstock.

A FREEBIE to you, from me!

I'm not sure when I put this online, I just found it in my web album.  I must have meant to share it, but never got it on the blog.  I created it a couple years ago, before my eyes started falling apart.  Since it's my first upload, I hope I can figure out how to do this correctly (I'm on my 3rd try).  Maybe you can use this free printable box to gift your favorite cat lover (maybe MOM?).  Have fun! - Kat

P.S. - I should have a small Mother's Day scrap element for you later today.
