CAS(E) This Sketch
I never seem to have enough thank you cards on hand following the holidays, so this new sketch for the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge was perfect for a quick TY card! Actually, it's a retro sketch which means it was used in an older challenge, but it's a great layout that deserves a rerun. Here's my take on it...
I love the papers from My Mind's Eye's Blush pad! That was my starting point...then I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Brush Stroke Messages stamp set in Navy Blue ink (Reverse Confetti) twice. This fun little floral die was part of a Simon Says Stamp kit from several months ago. So quick and easy!
JAN 4 - Quote from 365 Days of Wonder:
"No man is an island, entire of itself."
--John Donne I hope you're staying warm in your corner of the world. We're having some single digit temps with wind and snow in some parts of VA today! The good thing is that days are already getting longer and this too shall pass as my mother was known to frequently say!

Today I go back to work after a 3 week vacation over the holidays. It's also a sad morning as I attend a celebration of the life of a dear lady in our church who passed away last Thursday! Peggy was one of those loving prayer warriors that everyone loved! While she will be greatly missed, she has an eternal life with the Lord she always praised and is no longer suffering health issues.
Still no cards to post for the new year (they are coming...stay tuned for a big announcement tomorrow), but wanted to share another inspirational thought from 365 Days of Wonder...

Happy New Year!!!
Another year is dawning...so went the song in our church service yesterday! Have you noticed that people are coming up on social media with "a word" for the year? I never really got on that bandwagon until this year and I'm going to share that my word for 2018 is RETIREMENT! After 44 years of nursing (and working every other weekend the majority of that tenure), I'm aiming to quit full time nursing on May 1! I've been at Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center for 42 of those years and while I've loved the stay...I'm ready for a change! State law says I have to wait 90 days before I can return to work some hourly shifts. No problem there - lol! I can't just totally walk away from a profession I love!
I want to thank a fellow stamper - Marcie Sharp - who recommended a 'must have' book for everyone: 365 Days of Wonder by R. J. Palacio. I love to have a daily inspirational nudge in my life and will try to share these with you blog friends. May your year be filled with many new wonders!
"We carry within us the wonders we seek around us."
