How To Capture A Snapshot With A Totally-Black Background?

Here's a very simple setup and technique to try with...

*IZAH, really hope it helps...enjoy!! :)

1. Lay a non-reflective black colour cloth on a flat surface. 

2. Elevate subject(s) from cloth surface in order to "fade out" the cloth texture/surface.

3. Use flash/extra lighting to "shoot" (capture) the subject.

Boleh dikatakan Suzi ni ialah sahabat maya saya yang pertama dan menjadi follower ke-2 Deliah's Deli (follower yang pertama tu mungkin bina blog hanya utk cuba2 agaknya kerana sehingga sekarang 1 sahaja entry dalam blognya). And just like a colorful kite, we grace the skies.

Congratulations and good-luck to my sister Rania

in her new posting in Phnom Penh Cambodia.

Small thin freckled little girl with really big dreams, never giving in to anything no matter what, always promising herself the sky and the stars!

One day so long ago, it was against the old man advice; but stubborn like none other, she went to bike school intending on learning riding one but ended up with a broken toe instead! Ouch! But missed her graduation she would not; hence convocation in plasters and crutches and a picture says a thousand words indeed!

Come the years; some hearts get broken, and some broken hearts mended, but it’s all the snakes and ladders of living; a chalk mark in the rain storm.

Good with numbers and projections, she saw far and reached even further ahead of the rest in her very own style and relentless trademarks. Her blazing persistent trails; we have never failed to appreciate, and we have never failed to quietly beam proudly no matter where we are. A once dream that was left unclaimed in the far dust of time, and yet today in destiny she comes again; her father’s daughter, for she is picking up the dreams once more where he had once left off out of obligation.

To Allah we pray and we say our thanks. We reach out and we make our future. Fulfill all your duties beyond promises and all expectations, as that is an assured way to greater heights.

REMEMBER:

The world at large is still “mankind wilderness” yet to be domesticated by womankind, a realm where “trust” is actually spelled; a four letter word. So do not walk alone into the unknown.

See, what else I missed here...? But she knows all that already I guess :)

EID MUBARAK TO ONE AND ALL :))

MOUHALABIEH - A Sweet Dessert For My Dearest Sister : Happy Birthday Rania :)

Mouhalabieh, mahalabiya, mahalabia, muhalabia or mahallabiyya is a simple, delicious middle eastern dessert with origins that traces back to Jordan, and it would always gets served after you have done stuffing yourself with the main course meal ;)

Ingredients:

3 cups rice flour
1 cup corn flour - I used custard powder...for a change :)
3 cups sweetened condensed milk
10-12 cups evaporated milk+water
2 pods cardamom - lightly crushed
pinch saffron threads *optional
3-4 tablespoons rose water
chopped pistachios and raisins to garnish :)

Directions:

Combine rice flour and corn flour. Add to a pot containing milk. Slowly bring to boil and whisk vigorously. Be careful not to scorch the mixture. Add cardamom and saffron* and continue stirring until the mixture thicken. Remove from heat, add rosewater and stir well. Pour pudding into cups and refrigerate to chill. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios and raisins. Serve :)

Scientific researches have found that eating 1.5 ounces of Pistachio a day, coupled to a low cholesterol and saturated fat intake diet may actually be very good for cardiovascular health. So enjoy your Mouhalabieh :)

Suggestion: it is best after some refrigeration, but no too long or the pistachio bits would lose its crunchiness.
