Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #76 ~ North by Northwest

North by Northwest

Are you ready for another Alfred Hitchcock... That usually mean a cat and mouse chase.. This time it's a 2,000 mile chase for Rodger Thornhill(Cary Grant). Rodger is taken mistaken for a CIA agent when he tries to make a phone call to his mother.. Rodger is kidnaped my a group of fugitives and then is forces to be part of a 2,000 mile chase. He is helped along the way by a lovely lady named Eve. He has a long journey via trains, cars, and plains.. He is even chased down by a crop duster in a corn field. This chase all ends up in the black hill of South Dakota at Mount Rush more.

When I was doing a little research I noticed in my picture file that a year ago was our last Alfred Hitchcock move.. It's been far to long...

I got my inspiration from the first thing that came to mind from memory (the crop duster scene) It has Cary Grant in it that's why I remember the scene. He is really Dreamy... It's been a long time sense I have seen this movie I was surprised how much I had forgotten about it. It was great to watch this movie again.. There are lost of elements to get inspiration in this movie.. Hope you have a great time watching this classic with the hunky Cary Grant... Ahhhhh!

Have fun creating a card/project inspired by this movie for more ideas check our out Cinema Saturday Blog.. HERE

cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #16 - The Wizard of Oz

(notice all the pink.. Explained below....lol)

When I started making the Tin Man costume for my now 16 year old (in 3 days) he was about 7.. I had never sew anything with lamie before.. So who do you call???? MOM of course. She totally helped me finish that project... When Zach is 1st grade he is GOING to were that costume I will have to bribe him because he will want to be a power range , transformer or heaven knows what.. For Kindergarten  next year I am trying to convince him to be a scarecrow... I have the CUTEST costume ever.. I will dig out a photo of my second DS to show you all... It's so dang cute...

Jumping of track just a little Zach just came in and said "hey mom, that sure is a cute "Tea pot man" card" how cute is that....

From the time we decided to present the "Wizard of Oz" as this week's movie keep having visions of the Tin man in my head... I wanted to focus on just a portion of him the most important part of course. "THE HEART". In my mind I keep seeing just a section of his chest with a heart on a chain and this is how it ended up.. I kinda like the results.... I love the metalic look to this card.. The only trick thing is trying to photograph it... It's just like a mirror.. I didn't think about it until I down loaded the photos. All I was seeing was a big pink reflection (my sweater) back to the drawing board... I used a sanding block from Stampin' Up to distress the edges and body to give it a little life.  What a fun card I have to say! I want to make another "Tin Man" card.. Another favorite character of mine for sure...

Famous quotes:
Tin Woodsman: "If I only had a heart"

Wizard of Oz: As for you, my galvanized friend, you want a heart. You don't know how lucky you are not to have one. Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable.
Tin Woodsman: But I still want one.

Tin Woodsman: I'll see you reach the Wizard, whether I get a heart or not. Beehive, bah! Let her try and make a beehive out of me!

Dorothy: Goodbye, Tinman. Oh, don't cry! You'll rust so dreadfully. Here's your oil can.
Tin Woodsman: Now I know I've got a heart, 'cause it's breaking...

Hope you enjoyed one of my favorites the "Tin Woodsman"

Don't forget to check back for more fun from OZ!

Hugs
Brooke

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #15 - Casablanca

We are trying something new this week..

If you are luck enough to find that one person in your life that is your everything... then it only gets better... "As Time Goes By"... We will be celebrating our 18th anniversary this March... Where did the time fly...  Some time people don't know how lucky they are and how good they have it... Well I know how luck I am and how good I have it... I have been blessed to have an amazing Best friend and husband in my life.. He is a much better person that I... He is very compassionate, forgives easily, Romantic, trusting of others, hardworking, long suffering, Service oriented, A great spiritual Leader, Complimentary, Friend, has great taste in Movies, Great dad, Great Partner, Great Husband and the list goes on and on......

It's kinda of Ironic that one of our favorite television programs we have watch together for about 13 years know is called "As Time Goes By" staring Dame Judy Dench...

Movie song:

Info on movie:

I really should have saved this for our anniversary... SO I will say a early
"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY"
To my eternal sweetheart...
I LOVE YOU!
For the flower I used the Layered flower die-cut from Stampin'Up I am really getting my money out of this die... I LOVE IT!!! I love being able to cute all three colors(layers) out at once it' a real time saver.. I love flexibility of the Big shots.. It helps you really customize your projects... Most of the girls in my neighborhood have switched to the "Cricut" and are not to interested in buying another system... My DH surprised me with a "Cricut Expressions" last Christmas.. I have purchased a dozen cartridges and only used it for 2 projects..... and I need a new cutting mat... Granted they were Club projects... Sense I received the "BIG SHOT" from Stampin' Up  for Christmas this year I have used it a dozen times and on huge projects like neighbor gifts and club projects... I can't wait to use other products with my Big shot like Fabric, Sand paper, Felt, You name it.. It can cut it...
I don't know if you are like me but... When I am in the finishing mode of a project is when It all just starts coming all together.. I start adding little things here and there.... And it just all starts to sing...
Just a little more sweet loving... If you look closely you can see a corsage pin... So just imaging that this ribbon and bow are the corsage of the project.

I framed the final project in a shadow box from IKEA...  So I can hang it in my studio...
Have fun creating you challenge projects...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #1

Welcome to "Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge"... After an amazing bond of friendship formed through card challenges Sankari and I have decided to share out love of cinema and card making with others.. We also had both been listing what movie we had watched while making our creations.. So Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge was born.. The major brain child was Sankari and I was so graciously was invited along for the creation of this amazing creative challenge.  I love and admire Sankari and hope you all get to know and love her though her amazing creations and thoughts. Please join us for our first creative show.... to View the cinema challenge click here.

Our first feature Presentation is:
Pride and Prejudice
by Jane Austin

for Challenge rules and movie mini clips please join us on the challenge blog .

What a great movie to watch don't you all agree... This is a timeless novel and movie... Don't we all own this in VHS and DVD even Blue Ray... I think I have all the versions even the Bollywood of course..... The best thing about this movie is that my Sweetie and I both love it... When it's been a while sense we have watched it he will say "we need to watch or show" and we both know with out word being spoken what is meant... I love period pieces and really can't get enough... I basically crave them.. So I watch them over and over again... This makes it hard to read the book for me because Jane Austin movies are so true to character pretty much word for word... If it's been a while sense you have watch I hope you have a great time watching "Pride and Prejudice again....

I had to show this card with my wedgwood that I picked up in a antique shop along the "River Dart" in Devon county England.. What a great find.. I love the dark blue color...

The end of the movie is interpreted at the bottom of the card. Mr & Mrs... A double wedding... Hooray!!
In the movie "Becoming Jane" the question is posed. "Do all your ending have a happy ending? .. She replies  "Yes but only after having been miserable for a long period of time" or something like that.. you get the gist.. Unfortunately  Ms. Austin was not so lucky to have the same happy ending she so beautifully penned about..

Fresh Cut Notes

I finally got to play with the "Fresh Cut" stamp set and Fresh Cut Notes". Both of these are going to be in the new Stampin' Up Catalog that will be released in August. When I punched out the white petals from the note card I knew that I didn't want to waste them. I wanted to put them to good use. So really you can get two cards out of one with the "Fresh Cut Notes" pack.  I am so excited to see the new catalog and all the new things they are going to introduce.

One of the new product is called "DECORE ELEMENTS" it's vinyl baby. Now we can decorate our home and craft rooms with all the amazing images from Stamin' Up. There are a few favorites images and a few new. Have a look at the brochure and see what amazing thing are in-store. This is just the beginning! They will be adding to there line of "Decore Elements" through the year. They have also hinted that there are lot of fun things in store for this new year.

Garden butterfly

This is a fast little card I made for a card club exchange.. I pretty much love brown with everything if you haven't guessed by know. I especially love to match it with only one other color family. It has a simple elegance about it wether its brown and blue or brown and green or in this case brown and pink. When I was at "Roberts Crafts" in UT. I found a bag on clear pebbles that look a lot like dew drops. If you need TONS you can get the clear at "Roberts" for abound $12.00 if you would like to have a nice stash then I found a much smaller bag (about 12 0z??) About $3.00 at "Michael's" in the Floral department. If you have permanent markers you can color the flat side and you have all the colors in the rainbow. I purchased from "Costco"(best store ever) a while back a huge multi color pack of sharpies for less that $20.00. To adhere the dew drops I used mini glue dots I have also had luck with "Gloo" form "Ki memories" it's the only liquid I have found that works.  I used "Crystal Effects" in the flower images to give them a little pop. I you don't own "Crystal Effects" you need to. It is one of my must haves. I stamped the image twice to give the dark and lighter effect. Usually referred to as second generation. Have a HOT weekend it's a scorcher today high 90s and 97 forcasted tomorrow. Out to the Kiddy pool for me..
