Scale 75 Lt. Dick Winters - Part 2

Read Part I Here

Part 2 of the excellent Scale 75 Lt. Winters (of 'Band of Brothers' fame) kit. The kit is cast in white metal and is sculpted by Fernando Martin. Box art is outstanding and is the work of Samuel Perez.

I've had this one sitting around finished for about a year now and haven't gotten around to taking photos. Not the best photographic work I've done, but will pass I think. 75mm, painted with Vallejo acrylics and mounted on Rosewood by Ken Thomas Art Bases.

Scale 75 Lt. Dick Winters - Part 1

Read Part II Here

Part 1 of the excellent Scale 75 Lt. Winters kit. The kit is cast in white metal and is sculpted by Fernando Martin. Box art is outstanding and is the work of Samuel Perez.

At this point I have assembled the kit using 5 minute epoxy and have attached it to an African Rosewood base by Ken Thomas Art Bases. I have begun the Vallejo base painting and outlining process on the body, but have yet to start painting the head and face. More to come as progress is made!

See more on this exceptional kit at Scale 75.

'Knock and Talk' by Steve Zuleski

DRMM is honored by the oppourtunity to present 'Knock and Talk', 10th Mountain Division, Afghanistan by Steve Zuleski.

The 120mm scene is set using figures by Deyun, with some tweaks and modifications. They are painted mostly with Windsor oils and Tamiya XF-60 acrylic as a flesh tone base. The vignette and base are 100% scratch-built.

I want to thank "Ski" for allowing me to blog this incredible, and inspirational work of art on DRMM. For a complete and incredibly comprehesive build/painting log of this vignette, visit http://www.track-link.net/forum/modelling_figures/4549

Thanks "Ski"! - KG

J.E.B. Stuart 1863 by David Lakin

This is the Andrea Miniatures 54mm J.E.B. Stuart 1863 painted by David Lakin using Vallejo Acrylics.

James Ewell Brown "Jeb" Stuart (February 6, 1833 – May 12, 1864) was a U.S. Army officer from Virginia and a Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War. He was known to his friends as "Jeb", from the initials of his given names.

Stuart was a cavalry commander known for his mastery of reconnaissance and the use of cavalry in support of offensive operations. While he cultivated a cavalier image (red-lined gray cape, yellow sash, hat cocked to the side with an ostrich plume, red flower in his lapel, often sporting cologne), his serious work made him the trusted eyes and ears of Robert E. Lee's army and inspired Southern morale. (Wikipedia)

B-17 G "Solid Sender"

In 2006 I built this Revell 1/48 scale B-17 G for a friend of mine. He gave it to his grandfather, C.S. Needham, for his 90th birthday. Mr. Needham completed a full tour of duty in 1945 flying this plane for the 388th against Nazi Germany.

I completed a very basic interior, as the view inside the plane was extremely limited. The plane was finished with Alclad, Eduard photo-etch, custom decals, and various weathering techniques. Because of the age of this kit, this was one of the hardest models I've built. I still have nightmares of all the sanding that was required!
