Drama Out Back

A bit of action going on here!

Usually I see these horses nose to the ground eating grass.  Did you notice the the young'un peeking through the fence?

Walk Bridge

Beside Beaver River, Beaverton

The weather was unseasonably mild on Tuesday, a nice day to be out and about.  This is a pathway alongside the Beaver River. The bridge is over a tiny creek emptying into the river.  The creek was frozen but the river was running as you can see below.

Hmm. Which peanut is the heaviest?

AH! This one!

Country Road

 Another country fence

AH! "Country roads, take me home to the place I belong..." (Anyone else remember that John Denver song?)

The road this fence runs beside

Well, I don't belong in West Virginia (I COULD, though!) but I sure do like country roads.

Split Cedar Rail

 Split-cedar rail in winter

Truth be told, I like split-cedar rail fences any time of year but I think they are the most beautiful in winter when there's still a bit of snow clinging to the topsides.

Whitby Harbour

Late December

This bridge is over a creek that empties into Lake Ontario. I really like the shades of blues and greens in contrast to the dried vegetation in this photo.

After Snowfall

Winter is here

This photo was taken last year. This winter we finally had our first significant snowfall Monday night...followed by rain, so it doesn't look as nice as this photo. The snow has turned to slush and then probably into ice. EW! Winter has caught up with us!

Pier at Oshawa

Fence on the entrance to the pier

Many years the gate is closed by this time in December to keep fishers (and photographers)  from slipping on ice and falling into the harbour, so last week I was surprised to see the gate wide open. But hey! No ice to worry about!

Farm Fencing

Fencing and dried weeds

Look through the weeds and you can see the fencing. As you can see, the dried weeds are still standing tall as we've not had enough snow to knock them down.

Two Equals One - Maybe

Picket to the right and rail to the left

There are two fences at the entrance to this farm: a picket fence and a rail fence, and neither one is fencing anything in as there is no fence on the driveway side until behind the barn.

A different view of the barn and driveway

Dragons at the Gate

 Close up

A sculptor lives out in the country near Sunderland, Ontario, who has a HUGE dragon out in front of his barn (see bottom photo) and two dragons at the entrance to his long driveway.

One side of gate

Dragon sculpture

Sorry about the shadows on the dragon - it was a very bright day and I took the photo from the bottom of the driveway so wasn't in the best position!

November Fog

 Fences in morning fog

I hope all my American readers are  enjoying a very happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday morning was extremely foggy!  This farm is one of my most favourite places to photograph...even in low visibility.

Stables beyond the fence and over the little hill

Unusual Gate

Stone wall, wood and wrought iron

The stone wall is around an old stone home on the Grand River in Elora, Ontario. There are still some colourful leaves because I took the photo a couple of weeks ago.

Dark Skies

Thick clouds over East Gwillimbury farm - looking easterly

It was a day of thick, fast-moving clouds mixed with bright sunlight.

Artists Work Here

Fencing at one end of parking lot

A potter's studio is on the other side of this fence. We didn't go in - although we will some other time - so it may be more than one potter and they may live there too.

 More of the fencing

I love the way the wood that was cut out of the top was used to decorate the bottom'

Even more of the fencing including a gate

Country Fence

Apples and fencing at corner of yard

Out on a country road, many apples had fallen on the road side of the fence. I bet they would make tasty applesauce!

Bridges at Bala

 Bala, Ontario #1

Three fences (probably really railings?) near Bala Falls:  Wooden over the falls,

Bala #2

metal fence on bridge, and

 Bala #3

and another metal fence.

A Private Place

Fort, playhouse, treehouse, reading nook...whatever

Inside a fenced-in yard, so safe...yet a great place to get away from it all for a few minutes or hours! I want one!!
