The Accordion Pleat

Amidst the various pleated dresses and skirts lies my particular favorite, the accordion pleat. There was a time when the word pleat evoked loud guffaws as well as an overall rejection due to it's somewhat dowdy history. Thankfully it's a new day, and those of us who enjoy and nice pleat can hold our heads high as we stride along....ours skirts (and dresses) flowing behind! I find that the a-line design along with the more defined waist, makes for a very flattering silhouette....this versus the "straight pleat" versions.

So far, I've purchased Allen B's color block skirt, and a maroon belted number similar to that of the Michael Michael Kors. Alice & Olivia's dress in the last picture is a true testament to two of the best features....that flowing, swirling bottom!

Okay, so I'm going through my closet and I see a great deal of black, but no pretty, frilly, feminine, long-sleeved shirt to wear with jeans etc. One of the reasons, is that I just haven't found the right one. I want a "fussy" little something with plenty of ruffles and it has to be comfortable. I want one that can be tucked in or left out and still look good. The search is on!
