Simon Says Stamp Challenge GDT

I am so excited ... I am guest designing for the fantastic Simon Says Stamp Challenge ... thank you for asking me:)

As usual the lovely Heidi will be giving one lucky entrant a $50 spree to her Simon Says Stamp store. New goodies are arriving everyday in the store so there is no better time to take part and be in with a chance of winning our fantastic prize !!!

This week's theme is Coffee and Cream, and the Design Team are showcasing Whiff of Joy stamps ...

I used Willow for my card, and coloured her using my promarkers.  I then distressed around the edges of Willow, just a little too paley round her!!  I then cut her out using nesties and stamped a grunge stamp around her.  The dp are MME and I stamped a Kelly Pannaci border stamp down the edge.  The folwers were made using a Marianne Creatible die, with brown flat backed pearls in the centre.

And as it is wednesday here is my desk for WOYWW
Not much really ... I have been really busy, and plagued with headaches so I haven't been crafting for the last few days.  A few people asked what's in the little basket ... stamped images ready to colour, and some that are coloured ready to go on DT projects .. .sorry not that exciting really!!!  I hope to get to see more desks this week, headache permitting.

A bookmark

I have made a bookmark as part of my Mum's birthday present, and it covers the following challenges:
Totally Papercrafts - sketch
A Spoonfull of Sugar - bookmark
Katharina's Whiff of Joy Guest Design call.
I watercoloured Melinda using my distress inks and cut her out. The pink cardstock is cuttlebugged with the writing embossing folder, and inked over the top. I made paper beads using the dp.

Sorry this is a short post, the girls have dental appointments this afternoon, so its teeth cleaning and off we go.

Saturday's crafting

The girls have been for their swimming lessons and I have sewn up a sash for Vicky's hubby, so I felt that a bit of time in my craft room was in order. I started the WOJ card yesterday, and coloured the Magnolia image in yesterday, so it was just a matter of putting the elements together.
This card covers the following challenges;
Just Magnolia - easel card
Friday Sketchers - sketch
Allsorts - Spring

I watercoloured Tilda using my new distress inks and distressed the edges. The papers are K and Co Charlotte, and very strokeable!! I matted them onto green cardstock, and rotated the sketch. I added some ribbon, flowers and pearls to finish it off.
And here is a close up of Tilda.

This card is for
Simons Say Stamp challenge on Papercraft planet - sketch
Allsorts - Spring
Katharina's GDT call for Whiff of Joy

I watercoloured Willow and cut her out using my oval nesties. I used the largest die, so to get the mat I attached my die to some cardstock using repositional tape and cut round it with my craft knife. I distressed all the edges of the papers and cardstock using my Tim Holtz tool. This is the last of my thin ribbon and I added a button to the centre of the bow. Finally green pearls to finish.

Green!!

I started making this card on Sunday for a couple of challenges ... finally having finished it ... it fits 12!!!! YAY!!!
So this card is for the following challenges:

A spoonfull of Sugar - Easter

Passion for Promarkers - sketch
Creative Card Crew - going dotty
My Time to Craft - lovely lace
Simon Says Stamp - Green
Whiff of Joy - easel card
Crafty Cardmakers - a Feminine Celebration
Raise the Bar - going green

I coloured Melinda in using my pens and matted her onto cream cardstock. All the cream cardstock has its edges inked and I rounded all the corners. I stamped swirls over a piece of cream cardstock using thyme brilliance ink and themn clear embossed and heated them. I added some lace, some mulberry flowers coloured using my emerald promarker and a button.
Now I know it doesn't lok very Eastery but I tend to use cards with flowers on rather than eggs for Easter ... don't like to limit my stamps!! So this is going to my Auntie for Easter .. lilies are very Easter!!

The recipe I have used is from Katharina's Guest Design call ...So I am going to have a go at it.

Willow is coloured in using my new distress inks ... these new colours are fab!!! I then applied the cracked glass technique to the image, cracked the glass and rubbed vintage photo into the image. The image is distressed with antique linien and vintage photo. I distressed the edges of the paper and added vintage photo ink and then clear embossing powder and heated. The dp is also faux stitched. Finally some raffia, pearls, glittered roses and a bow.

Raining pearls

My lovely new distress inks arrived yesterday ... and they are fab!!! I love the new colours ... just couldn't decide which to use first!! I inked up one of my neglected Whiff of Joys and played ...
The card covers these challenges ...
Simon Says Stamp - recipe - 1 image, 2 papers and 3 types of embellies (pearls, flowers and punched swirls)
Sketch Saturday - sketch
Whiff of Joy - Pearls and Swirls

Willow is coloured using my new distress inks and then cut out using my nesties. I inked the edge in green and matted the dp onto green cardstock, after doing some faux stitching. The sentiment is PB and I used my CB charms to cut the sentiment out.. Some punched swirls, a layered flower and a smattering of pearls to finish.

I am on a stash diet for Lent ... no buying of anything crafty for 40 days!! Managing so far ...!!!
Just hoping nothing really good gets released that I really need to have NOW!! And I keep thinking of all the money I will have saved for my holiday.

Saturday's creations

What a busy week ... and no time for crafting! I have finally made a couple of cards this morning while hubby took the girls for their swimming lesson.
The first card is made using the following challenges:
Friday Sketchers - sketch
Just Magnolia - hearts and flowers
Stampavie and more - Love/valentine
Cute Card Thursday - flowers
Fuss and Fancy - hearts
Colour Create - soft pink, soft blue, silver and white
A Spoonfull of Sugar - freestyle

I coloured Valentine Tilda using copics and edged the image in silver ink. The papers are by Papermania and the sentiment stamp by Penny Black. I heat embossed the silver heart (s freebie from a magazine last year) and added lace and flowers from my stash.

This card follows the sketch at Whiff of Joy challenge, and the baubles theme at Bah Humbug.

I watercoloured Henry and then added gloss to the bauble. When the gloss was dry I stickle d the bauble and added stickles to the edge of the image. The papers are Basic Grey Wassail, and the sentiment Hero Arts. I added organza ribbon and some punched and layered snowflakes.

Melinda with bouquet

I haven't done much crafting this week, but I did manage to get this card made over a couple of evenings.
I am entering for the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - punches
Whiff of Joy - recipe
Quixotic Paperie challenges - use an old, neglected stamp

I haven't inked up either of these stamps for ages ... so I stamped Melinda nad masked the fall background. I watercoloured the images, and mixed a few inks together to get the colour of her top to match the dp. I punched my swirls and flowers and added a little bling ... still keeping to simpl, less fussy cards. I love this dp ... need to get some more!!!

Shabby Chic

With not much help from my lovely puddy cat I made a card last night ... there is shredded tulle in the bin and have chewed papers ... hmmm nice!!!
I have used the sketch from Whiff of Joy Challenge, the shabby chic theme over at Simon Says Stamp, and snowflakes so the EAC and Stamp with Fun challenges are covered. The Colour Create challenge this fortnight is Kraft, blue and white .. .I don't have Kraft but think the browns on the dp are Kraft coloured. They also want texture .. the dp is well textured!

Its a little difficult to see, but I stamped a swirly stars stamp all around the edges of the blue cards stock and then distressed the edges. Uru is watercoloured and cht iut using my nesties. I distressed the background using antique linen and added some ice gold stickles. I used another pieces of un-chewed tulle and threaded it through eyelets in the sentiment. A flower, punched snowflake, spacer and brad, with a snowflake charm finish it off ... oh and some ice gold stickles round the edges to fit in with the glittered paper.
Think its shabby chic!

Sketch and Stash 25

I almost forgot to schedule this .... we have had a hectic weekend with the run up to Ellie's birthday. Today she is 5!!! And at school! She has asked me to put some pics of her on here later .. we have pressies and her dress rehearsal to see ... she is an angel!! Oh a party for 28 screaming 4 and 5 years olds later ... can't wait for the peace and sleep later LOL!!

Anyway ...

This week heralds in another fab sketch from Becky, and the last for 2009 - our next challenge will be in the New Year, so you have plenty of time to join in.

I watercoloured Wee and his reindeer with a bit of help from Beth so its more block colouring this time!! Beth helped ink up the flowers and put the brads in them. SHe also punched the leaves. I did the rest!!!
Beth is a bit of a poor sleeper ... at 9pm she is wide awake and wanting to sit with me while I craft. She is also wide aeake at 3am ... less appealing to me I have to say!!!!

Do join in if you have the time.

Dutchdare Card Challenge

The challenge this time is a colour inspiration, and here is the picture.
I went for a Christmas card in these colours (although I admit to muting the colours!!)
I watercoloured Uru and matted him onto black cardstock. I used the Whiff of Joy sketch from this week, and matted theses gorgeous glittery papers on to black cardstock. I added a sparkly flower and a Christmas tree charm.

I am entering it into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - So Charming
A spoonfull of Sugar - non-traditional Christmas colours (teal/green/black aren't to me!!)
Creative Card Crew - Christmas
My Time to Craft - Winter Pals
Stampavie and More - Christmas
Everybody-Art-Challenge - stitching (around the image)

Do check out the other DT cards.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #60

Wendy has chosen the theme this week, and its Christmas Trees!!! I am in love with this gorgeous Whiff of Joy stamp and just had to use it for this challenge.

I watercoloured Wee and his tree in and then masked him and sprayed walnut gold and frost glimmer mist over the image. The papers are my favourite CHristmas ones this year - I just need to take a deep breath before cutting into them (and I have to have stroked them for several minutes first!!). I added gems to the tree and ribbon, and kept the layout simple.
Do take a peek at the other DT members creations - they are fab.

Vintage winter love

There seems to be a bit of a theme to my Christmas cards at the mo!! I just love these MME papers and as they were out I thought I would use up the bits and pieces.
The card covers these challegnes:
Spoonfull of Sugar - Brown plus red/blue
Passion fro Promarkers - vintage
Stampavie and more - sketch
Whiff of Joy - Christmas card
Simon Says Stamp - winter love - well Uru looks like he loves that birdie!
I coloured the image using promarkers and am really pleased with the colouring, it does look vintagey. I distressedthe image using antique linen, vintage photo, and walnut stain, and then masked the image and used frost glimmer mist. I distressed the papers, including the music papers, and the flower.
Here is a close up of the image and distressed background.
Well I am off for a cuppa while the children are having their nap!!

Sketch and Stash 24

Its time for another great sketch by Becky.
I watercoloured the image and added gems to the tree. I inked the edges of the image with distress ink and then heat embossed them to make them glisten a bit. As the image is rather large and I am tryig to keep my Christmas cards smaller this year I have punched ribbon slots so the image sits over the ribbon. I tied some tulle into the knot and added prima flowers that were spritzed with walnut gold and frost glimmer mist.
Do take a peek at the other DT cards and have a go yourself.

Animal Antics meets a sketch!

I have had poor Henry coloured up on my desk for days ... and no card to go on. So I have combined this week's WOJ challenge, a fab sketch, with Simon Says Stamp's animal antics theme. I have to say Henry is the only lucky mouse in our house ... Miffy is in killer mode at the mo and we are having about 4 'gifts' a day ...what a lovely puddy cat she is!!!
Henry has been watercoloured and matted onto red cardstock. I added lace for the scallop edge and a big band of green velvet (last bit :() with some red ric rac. I moved the sentiment as it covered Henry's ear, so I added a flower where the text was. I'm thinking the paper combination is a bit busy ... not sure - what do you think?

I don't often plug people, but I needed to treat myself yesterday so I ordered some flowers and tulle and pearls from Tab ... it aarrived this morning!! How fast is that ... and I ordered mid-afternoon. I am definitely shopping there again ... only problem is ... the flowers are so gorgeous I can't use them!!!! They need to be admired and stroked LOL!!

Fruitcake!!

That'd be the paper before you all get excited!! I am getting to the end of my BG fruitcake papers ... do I buy more or get something new next year ... hmmmm!

For this card I followed the Create4fun sketch, just rotating it.
Isn't Wee with his tree so cute!!!! I watercoloured him, then heat embossed the edges of the card with gold as a change from distressing them. I used card candy and gems, and a bit of ribbon - nice and clean and simple.

So then I needed to be a bit more vintagey!!
I followed the Just magnolia sketch for this.
Tilda is watercoloured and stickled and gold gel penned!! I distressed the papers in red and gold ink. The flowers are left over Primas from last year, and I stamped and gold embossed a swirl in the right top corner. The music paper (thanks mum!!) is distressed in vintage photo, red and gold and tied with twine.

As there is lots of glitter, glitz and bling I am also entering them for the Basic Grey Challenge and Cute Card Thursday.

Anyone for hot chocolate?

I have made this card either for Christmas or for a friend's birthday in December ... so no sentiment yet.
I used the sketch from Passion for Promarkers, the colour combo from Whiff of Joy and Everybody-Art-Challenge distressing.
Henry is coloured in using my promarkers and then he was distressed using weathered wood and antique cream. The papers are distressed and lightly inked, and then I heat embossed the edges to add a sheen. Rather than adding flowers (it will be for a bloke) I stamped swirls in antique linen and embossed them. Finally I added an orange ribbon.

Henry and his hot chocolate!

I'm back on the 'use a sketch to make a Christmas card ... and make 2' plan!! I have combined the WOJ challenge with the Passion for Promarker colour theme, and CCT candy corn theme (there are marshmallows!!) for this. Its the first time I have used promarkers for Henry - not sure about the mouse colouring. I should be an expert at identifying mouse colours - I clear up enough dead ones, thanks to the cat!!

I promarkered Henry and used my deckled nesties to cut him and the mat out. I have used the same dp for both, just swapped the cardstock and ribbon around. The ribbon is tied rather than use my ribbon punch (it needs a hammer and I made them when the girls were in bed last night, so a definite no no to the hammer!!). I have kept it a bit simple, just using a couple of white snowflake brads. The sentiment was a freebie.

I have realised that I have yet to post the stocking card I made for the Winter Wonderland challenge - sleep deprivation is really taking a toll on the brain cells!!!
Anyway here it is.
Such a cutie image and I coloured it in distress inks and added fluffy stuff. Again a ssimple layout and the paper is the same - something about it being around I think LOL!!

I'm not sure how much crafting I am gonig to get done over the next few days - its half term and I am working, Dave's at home and got lots of plans for days out with the children ...he's just a big kid himself LOL!!
