What:nots...

Phew! It's been quite a week - there's been ever so much catching up with old friends, and visiting family, that we are now quite ready for a wee holiday. It has been really lovely though, and tomorrow after a farewell lunch, we're off to the Bay with my parents for a week of relaxation. Yippee! How's your week been? I hope it's treated you well, and that life is good in your neck of the woods. Here's what:nots - see you in a week...
I know it's been doing the rounds, but I love this pic of Sofia Coppola.

This is so utterly true.

Loving Liselotte Watkins' illustrations for Vogue Italia.

Alan Preston's beautiful kowhai seed, muka, and gold necklaces.

So much to like about this image of Princess Anne.

Gold floral pattern card from Rifle Paper Co.

Elegant hair and makeup at Peter Som - Fall 2012.

Beatriz Furest's new collection - love this bag + colour
(the blue vodka version is pretty nice too).

My Favorite Dirt Roads by Robert Kinmont (found via Alexandria).

And a recent addition to my reading list - Richard Davenport-Hines exploration of the passengers and crew onboard the Titanic.

Weekly what:nots...

Crikey it's c.o.l.d - blue skies, and sunset at 4.30pm cold! Mind you there's something to be said for that time of day, just before sunset, when it gets really cold. Standing there looking at the boughs of bay and holly, thinking of hearty stews, red wine and open fires. As much as I love the sun, this has become favourite time of year. I hope you are enjoying life in your neck of the woods - here's what:nots.
The impossibly chic Emmanuelle Alt.

Love this Adire silk scarf from Anthro.

Pretty bedside table.
(I can't recall where I found this image - if you know the source please let me know)

Elegant silk bra.

(note: I suggest you sit down before clicking through and seeing the price)

Seriously wonderful cedarwood candles from Saipua.

These Ariat boots are tippy-top of my Christmas wish list.

And watching this makes me want to run away to the Scottish highlands...

Weekly what:nots...

Hello - how was your weekend? I do hope it was lovely. Our excursion to the snow was fun, albeit rather chilly. As for the past week - like so many New Zealanders seeing the devastation and loss in Christchurch has been incredibly hard and terribly distressing. But what I do know, is that despite the utterly devastating sadness and loss, New Zealand and Christchurch will endure and get through these dreadful times. Wishing you all a safe week ahead...
Black and white by Michael Donovan

Sparse and elegant shapes from Japanese label arts & science.

Ah, Mr Cummings how very true.

Geoffrey Johnson's wonderful paintings.

Simple separates from American Vintage.

Matisse's Armchair by Kim Pieters on show at Bowen Galleries.

And an enchanting book from Elisabeth Tova Bailey - I've yet to read this but by all accounts it is a 'miniature masterpiece'.

Ugh...

Ugh! I haven't been sleeping, I keep staying up late pottering. Then I get to bed and start worrying - should I do this, or that, or maybe this, or...and so it goes. During the day I find myself procrastinating and not getting things done, I start doing something then move onto something else, never quite finishing each thing. Ugh! It doesn't make for a good mindset. So frustrating. And now the boys and I have colds, & tomorrow is our wedding anniversary and R is over seven thousand miles away. Ugh! Things will improve I am sure - they always do. Sometimes you've just gotta go with it I suppose. What:nots will go up this evening (I hope).
