Later media analysis including a Friday July 8, 2016 ABC news 20/20 special narrated by David Muir, focused on the shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana earlier that week. Without knowing the details of those shootings, Muir and Micah Johnson, the Dallas shooter blamed all white policemen and all white men for racism. Using that same logic because some black men shoot white policemen all black men may be used as targets for white policemen and white men in general. Is that how this will play out? Journalists emphasize the flawed logic of misguided shooters and do not appear to understand where their thinking went wrong. It encourages others to take up arms to kill for revenge. It is an extension of affirmative action, which rewards black people who suffered no harm and punishes white people who did no wrong. How does that play out? Does it encourage love and respect between races? Huh?

Dallas police were locked in a standoff early Friday after snipers shot 11 officers, five fatally, during a protest over recent shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana.
Three people were in custody and a fourth suspect exchanged gunfire with authorities in a parking garage downtown, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said.
The remaining suspect "has told our negotiators that the end is coming, and he is going to hurt and kill more of us, meaning law enforcement, and that there are bombs all over the place in this garage and downtown," Brown said.
At least two snipers fired from an elevated positions on police officers minutes before 9 p.m. CT, according to Brown. He described the shootings as "ambush style."
"We believe that these suspects were positioning themselves in a way to triangulate on these officers from two different perches in garages in the downtown area, and planned to injure and kill as many law enforcement officers as they could," he told a news conference — noting that some were shot in the back.
Brown said police don't have a motivation for the attacks or any information on the suspects.
There may be other suspects at large. "We still don't have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects," Brown said. Police were in contact with the FBI and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Brown said.
"There had to be some speculation from us there would be some knowledge of the [demonstration] route," he said.
Brown said investigators are working under the assumption that all the suspects were working together. They have not been cooperative, he said. "We just are not getting the cooperation we'd like to know that answer of why, the motivation, who they are."
Four of the five slain officers were Dallas police, and the fifth was a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer. A civilian was also wounded, authorities said.
Around 800 people were at the demonstration, and around 100 police officers were assigned to the event and the surrounding area, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said. The shooting occurred after the demonstration ended and as a march was taking place.
"At 8:58, our worst nightmare happened," Rawlings said. "It is a heartbreaking moment for the city of Dallas, Rawlings said.
A person at the protest said they were "making our second lap" when gunfire erupted.
"We heard shots, we smelled gunpowder, and that's when everything got really intense and surreal," the witness told MSNBC. "We just started to run and grab kids," he said.
The demonstration was in reaction to the police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge Tuesday and Philando Castile Wednesday in a St. Paul suburb.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directed the state Department of Public Safety to offer any assistance needed. "In times like this we must remember — and emphasize — the importance of uniting as Americans," Abbott said in a statement.
Thursday night, Dallas police distributed a photo of a man they called a "person of interest." The person in that photo turned himself in, police said. It does not appear he was part of the four suspects later mentioned by Brown.

A witness who didn't give his name told MSNBC-TV that his group was making a second lap of the event when gunfire erupted.
"We heard shots, we smelled gunpowder, and that's when everything got really intense and surreal," the man said. "We just started to run and grab kids."

A woman who also didn't give her name told NBC Dallas Fort Worth: "We were leaving, and when we turned, there was cops. They were patrolling. Then, all of a sudden, you've seen them just fall."
Renee Sifflet told The Dallas Morning News that she took her three teenage children to the rally "for a positive experience, something they could say they were part of when they're older."
"Then it turned negative," Sifflet said.
Carlos Harris told the newspaper that the shooters "were strategic. It was tap tap pause. Tap tap pause."

Eleven police officers were shot ambush-style, including five fatally, in Dallas Thursday night by at least two snipers, amid a protest against the recent police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling in Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Minnesota, according to the Dallas Police.
The condition of the six wounded officers remains unknown.
Officials said the gunmen aimed to kill as many officers as possible.
Among the officers killed, at least one was a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer and at least one of the wounded was a DART officer. DART tweeted it was "grieving the loss" off Officer Brent Thompson, 43.
The number of dead initially was four, but around 2 a.m., Dallas police announced a fifth officer had died.
"It is a heartbreaking morning to lose these four officers that proudly served our citizens," said Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. "To say that our police officers put their lives on the line every day is not a hyperbole, it’s a reality."

By 12:30 a.m. local time, three suspects were in custody and cops were in negotiations with a fourth, who was exchanging gunfire with officers.
Two of the individuals were taken in after one of them was seen carrying a camouflage bag walking quickly down Lamar Street in downtown Dallas. The individual then threw the bag in the back of a Mercedes and sped off. Police followed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop.
A woman was also taken into custody in the vicinity of the El Centro parking garage.
A fourth suspect was engaged in a shootout with Dallas SWAT officers, police said, and a suspicious package was found near the suspect's location. Police said the package is being secured by the bomb squad.
That suspect told police "the end is coming...and there are bombs all over the place," according to Dallas police chief David Brown. That suspect also said that he planned to hurt more officers.
"We’re leaving every motive on the table," Brown said. It was yet to be determined if the attackers were part of the rally, but they appeared to be working together Brown added.

For rent: brand new one-bedroom apartments in the shadow of downtown Dallas, a short walk from one of the city’s trendiest areas. On-site concierge. Successful applicants will be homeless, mentally ill and possess criminal records.
These are strange-sounding tenant requirements, but The Cottages at Hickory Crossing is an unusual kind of project. It is a “housing first” strategy: find the homeless a permanent place of their own before trying to solve their problems, rather than the other way around.
The fifty 400sq ft units are set to open in April in north Texas. Despite its bucolic name, Hickory Crossing is wedged between freeways a mile from the city’s high-rises, with railroad tracks, warehouses and the nightlife of the Deep Ellum district close by. One of the nonprofits that has raised the funds for the multimillion dollar project, CitySquare, has an Opportunity Center across the road offering a variety of services for low-income Dallas residents.
“In order to live across the street you have to be chronically homeless, disabled, with some presenting mental health issue, typically drugs or alcohol, and you have to have a criminal background. If you haven’t been in jail you can’t stay in our houses,” says Larry James, CitySquare’s CEO.
The process of selecting tenants is under way. It began by identifying the 300 most expensive homeless people in the county, based on their cost to city services such as the health and prison systems.


The Cottages at Hickory Crossing 

“We will have 50 of the most expensive homeless persons. The average cost per person on this list of 300 to the county alone, not counting the city or nonprofit organisations, is over $40,000 a year to stay outside. We’re going to provide a gated community with security, seven day a week mental health services, really good housing – platinum LEED certified – every house has a bedroom scaled to queen-sized furniture, a living room, kitchen and a bath, a nice front porch. Less than $15,000 a year is what it costs to provide that kind of housing,” James says.
All for a rent of 30% of the tenant’s monthly income – whether it is $1,000 or $10. The only requirement? “Be a good tenant,” James says. That means no criminal or disruptive behaviour; but no pressure on residents to immediately go sober if they are addicted to alcohol, for example. Help will be on hand when they are ready.
“I’ve heard stories of people getting ‘housing first’ and sleeping with the door open because it’s such a massive shift, it took months or even a year for them to be able to shut and lock the door,” says Jonathan Grace, a pastor who works with the homeless in Dallas.
Other models for housing that focus on mental illness and alcoholism have been credited with reducing chronic homelessness in Utah by 91% and have been tried in cities including Seattle, Los Angeles and New York.

Some 40% of homeless adults in Dallas are severely mentally ill.

The sprawling homeless encampment beneath a freeway overpass grew to be so large that it encompassed hundreds of tents and distinct neighbourhoods: the alcoholics, the drug users, the young people, clustered on a dusty patch of wasteland close to the shimmering glass skyscrapers of downtown and a giant billboard advertising a banana-yellow Ford Mustang. Clothes hung on a metal fence, pigeons pecked at the ground and portable toilets stood in a corner near a truck providing medical services.

James believes the cottages could promote a more enlightened approach to homelessness in Texas, one that emphasizes trust, time and collaboration. “People given resources and opportunities typically work hard to solve their own problems. We just don’t respect that enough,” he says.

Pro American Activists Confront New Black Panther Party Racist Hate Group in Texas

Anti-Muslim protesters from the Bureau of American Islamic Relations turned up at a Nation of Islam Mosque in Dallas with rifles and clad in skeleton masks to confront members of the New Black Panther Party.

According to Fox 4, they only stood firm for a few minutes before police told them to leave for their own safety.
As they left, the protesters chanted: 'black power'.
A large number of officers were on duty, fearing racial overtones of the rally would turn into violence.
Activist Olinka Green told the Dallas Morning News: 'This is what they fear - the black man. This is what America fears.'[. . .]
Yafeuh Balogun of the Huey P Newton Gun Club added: 'It's a people's victory here in South Dallas today.'
The Bureau of American Islamic Relations, or BAIR, rallies against what it calls radical Islam.
In a Facebook post about the counter-protest, one of the organizers wrote: 'We have decided to Protest the Nation of Islam for promoting violence against Americans openly and publicly. This is NOT about color of skin, not a white vs black thing, (not for us anyway).
'This is about RADICAL ISLAM. They have threatened to continue killing Cops, Random White People and their children to further their agenda of hate and dominance through violence.[. . .]
'They have teamed up with C.A.I.R. and that is unacceptable as well. We cannot stand by while all these different Anti American, Arab radical Islamists team up with Nation of Islam/Black Panthers and White anti American Anarchist groups, joining together in the goal of destroying our Country and killing innocent people to gain Dominance through fear
'We will be going in full gear for self defense only. This is a full gear situation, We have a comprehensive security plan for this event, all the bases are covered, you will be briefed by B.A.I.R. Team leaders and DPD as to how the security and self defense procedures will be handled.
'There are back up forces, staged strategically around the entire area. Your safety is paramount to B.A.I.R so we have taken extreme precautions.
'Again I repeat this is a FULL GEAR situation, not required but recommended. We will have the means in place to protect those who do not have weaponry and gear so come one come all its time to stand now, stand for what you believe in and don't let evil win.'
Police said the event ended without incident, according to Raw Story. [. . .]
The police department released a statement about the event prior to the protest beginning, The Blaze reported.
'The department is committed to protecting the Constitutional rights of all citizens and will make every effort to keep this protest peaceful,' the statement said.
Mosque supporter Purlie Gates was upset about the protest, according to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.
'These people came to our community under false pretenses,' Gates said. 'Could we do the same thing?
'Could we make some allegations about a group in Highland Park and arm a militia and say we are going to go over there with arms and protest? That would have been stopped at city hall. The police would have stopped that.'


Members of the Dallas Black Panther group stood their ground as Bureau of American Islamic Relations members staged their protest.

Krystal Muhammad of the New Black Panther Party told FOX 4 last week that they would be at the mosque to make sure no BAIR members went inside.
'We won’t allow anybody to come in and try to intimidate our brothers and sisters,' she said.
Despite the success with the counter protest, it should be noted that the Southern Poverty Law Center considers thew New Black Panther Party to be a hate group.

Officer Cameron Beckham and reserve deputy Michael Magovern were set to work overnight traffic security at a construction area along Stemmons Freeway. But prior to the start of their shift, they stopped by a Whataburger location in Lewisville for a bite to eat.
The visit did not turn out so well.
According to the officers, workers at the restaurant denied them service. An employee told the men, “We don’t serve police.”

The suspect's father, Jim Boulware of Carrollton, said his son had blamed police for losing custody of his own child, who is now in middle school.
But despite previous threats of violence, he said he never expected anything like Saturday's events.
"He blames the police for taking his son away from him," Jim Boulware said. "I tried to tell him that the police are just doing their job."

Brown said police were able to contact the man after he made a long, ranting 911 call.
Brown said that once the man became agitated and cut off negotiations after hours of on-and-off talks, SWAT made the decision to shoot him.

During a discussion on the Dallas Police headquarters shooting this afternoon, CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield appears to have really misspoken in referring to the gunman’s actions as “courageous and brave.”
Whitfield was speaking to CNN legal analyst Philip Holloway when she said this:
“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. So you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”

Three other people were injured, but not shot, WINS reported.
The guests who suffered minor injuries were taken to Bellevue and Roosevelt Hospitals.

A teenage girl who says she was raped and impregnated by a relative three years ago also was beaten by four other family members to induce an abortion, Dallas police said Wednesday.
Four relatives were arrested Tuesday on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and a fifth was arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.
Deputy Chief Gil Garza said more charges are possible as the investigation continues.

CPS spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales said six other children at the home — a 15-year-old brother, 14-year-old sister and four children belonging to a beating suspect — were taken into custody Tuesday. The Associated Press does not identify victims of sexual assault and in order to protect the victim's identity, has also not identified the family members charged.
According to an affidavit, the girl, who was 14 at the time of the alleged assault in August 2012, didn't come forward until May 22, when another woman who said she was a witness to part of the assault took her to a police station.
The affidavit says family members discovered the girl was pregnant sometime between the months of January and March 2013. At about eight months pregnant, she was given multiple doses of birth control pills, emergency conception pills and cinnamon tablets by one of the suspects in an attempt to abort the baby. The girl told police that because that didn't work, the suspects beat her for six hours and she ended up giving birth to a stillborn child.

A Dallas Rabbi says he feels “completely violated” after vandals spray painted a Nazi swastika on his car.
Rabbi Yaakov Rich worships at at Dallas home with a small congregation. Last month, a judge threw out a lawsuit by the neighborhood HOA that tried to stop the group from worshiping inside that home.
This week, the city of Dallas filed a lawsuit demanding improvements be made to the home to meet building codes if the congregation wants to continue its services.

Justin Butterfield with the Liberty Institute says the swastika is not the first time the congregation has faced harassment.
“In orthodox Jewish homes, there is a little box on the doorway with a scroll on it with a scripture on it, and in the past, somebody had ripped that off of the doorway. They’ve also had people drive in front of the home screaming obscenities at them,” said Butterfield.

A former mob hitman is coming forward once again to say that he is the man who killed President John F. Kennedy.
James Files says that he was the man on the grassy knoll back on November 22, 1963, and that he fired the bullet into Pres. Kennedy's head that ultimately killed him.
He says the other shot that hit Pres. Kennedy came from his boss, Charles 'Chuckie' Nicoletti, who was hiding out in the book depository, the same place Lee Harvey Oswald is believed to have been at the time of the shooting.
Files also says that Oswald, who was charged, but then shot dead before he could be tried or convicted in the killing, never filed a single shot.

Mr Callens owned his own company, Callens Innovation Group. Mrs Callens homeschooled the teenage suspect at their Texas home. Police have no motive in the murders.

According to The Dallas Morning News, following a 911 call from the home at 2am on Monday, officers arrived on the scene to find the boy sitting outside the home alongside his elder sister who was extremely distressed.
According to court documents on Tuesday that the sister was overheard asking: 'What do you mean you did it?'
The teen accused answered: 'I did it', according to the News, before the sister responded: 'Was this your plan?'
He did not reply and was taken into police custody after indicating that he had left the gun in the home.
Officers found Mr Callens lying on the floor with a gunshot wound and a rifle with a flashlight taped to it, according to The Dallas Morning News. Mrs Callens was found in the master bedroom with bullet wounds to her head and arm.
The autopsies on the couple, who have four other children, have not yet been completed.

The 16-year-old was barred from drinking soda, had all of his online activities monitored and wasn't allowed to watch any R-rated movies. The PG-13 films he watched were screened to remove violence and other adult content, neighbors revealed.
Jonathan Marcum, 15, who played with the teenage suspect, said the Callens closely monitored what their son did online and restricted what he was allowed to watch and even what he ate, according to the Dallas Morning News.
'They didn't allow any PG-13 movies, and if they did they would have it on Clear Play, which would take all the violent moments and skip it,' Marcum told KXAS-TV. 'So there was pretty much no violence in that family.'
Teens in the neighborhood said the Callens were very strict with the 16-year-old suspect and that any time the teen broke the rules, he would be punished.

Authorities have not said where the teen got the gun he used to kill his parents. Neighbors say they don't believe the Callens owned a firearm.

The former officer had tried to claim that Allen rammed into a police vehicle while cops were trying to box him in, however video footage taken from a dash camera has since revealed that officers actually rammed Allen.
Tuter then opened fire, letting off 41 rounds and hitting Allen, from Wylie, three times which killed him.
