Palace shadows

Stairwell at the US Consulate, (Palazzo Canevaro) Florence, Italy

The photo is a bit blurry, but I wanted to show off the consulate...

the place I was fortunate enough to stay while in Italy.

Ironwork of Italy

“He who allows his day to pass by without practicing generosity and enjoying life's pleasures is like a blacksmith's bellows:
he breathes but does not live.”

Italy, mostly Rome

No captions...I'll just let you wander through
(think 90 degrees...hot & muggy)

Italy....random photos

Photo opportunities were everywhere in Italy...

architecture, crowds of tourists,

frescos and icons,

to the simplicity of wooden pews.

Don't forget to look up!

I had never seen shutters that hinged up like this.

The domed architecture of the Baptistry of St. John in Pisa

to classical statues and iron gates.

Italy !

I'm the wife of an artist blacksmith....
I just had to see what the backside looked like!

Wall shadows

The Tuscan town of Lucca is completely surrounded by a wall.

Teresa & Sue walk along part of it; the trees cast shadows.
Looking out over the wall

Lucca, part one

I keep getting asked the question, "Will you go back (to Italy)?"
I would go back to Lucca, a charming walled town in Tuscany...somewhat undiscovered by tourists.

Compared to Florence, Pisa & Rome, these streets are virtually empty.

For someone who dislikes crowds...this was bliss.

Arches...can't get enough of them!

Flowers growing out of cracks in the wall along the canal...

Oh how I love this shot...the daisy...the bicycle...the alley!

And the color of this building...
We were only there for 3 hours...I could have stayed for days...
