Welcome Dr. Anthony Ferguson to the Blog

2
Please join me in offering a warm welcome to our newest ETC blog contributor, Dr. Anthony Ferguson.

Anthony completed his PhD at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he wrote his dissertation under Russell Fuller comparing the non-aligned texts of Qumran to the Masoretic Text.  His work has been discussed on the blog before (here, here, and here). He has just recently taken a position as lead pastor at 11th Street Baptist Church in Upland, CA and serves as well as an adjunct faculty at California Baptist University and Gateway Seminary. He has published in the Journal of Biblical Literature and the Southern Baptist Journal of Theology.

I am especially looking forward to the balance he will bring to the canonical force here at ETC. Be sure to follow him on Twitter and on Academia.edu.

New Blog: "Paleografia Greca"

3
A new blog has seen the light a few days ago, Paleografia Greca, with an impressive number of posts up already.

The blog is devoted to Greek palaeography, or more general, to the history of Greek literature from its origin to our days (with a focus on the Byzantine era).

Just like ETC, Paleografia Greca is a group blog, and the contributors so far are:

Daniele Arnesano (blogmaster)
Pia Carolla
Christian Förstel
Pasquale Orsini
Stefano Parenti
Inmaculada Pérez Martín
Filippo Ronconi
Elisabetta Sciarra

This blog will be of great interest for our readers (it links here, by the way), as can be assumed from the very blog header displaying an evangelist portrait (Gospel of Luke) – but I wonder which MS it is from.

Update: Daniele Arnesano tells me the portrait of Luke is taken from Wien, ONB, Theol. gr. 302, f. 17v.

New Blog by Larry Hurtado

9
I am delighted to announce (a bit late) that Larry Hurtado has a new blog!

I am sure there will be a lot of posts on matters relating to textual criticism. At this point we can read about Larry's visit to Münster here and here, and about the staurogram here.

King James Only?

18
Here is a new blog devoted to the KJV-only debate

From the description:
Hysteria, misinformation, rancor and hype fill the King James Version (KJV) only debate. Cynicism sometimes colors the view of those on both sides of the debate. This blog aims to confront the King James craze head on, and evaluate the claims of KJV-onlyism from a Biblical perspective.

The authors are all former proponents of KJV-onlyism. Each has made his own journey out of that movement. We shall do our best to fairly represent the opposite view here, yet we acknowledge that there are multiple varieties of the KJV-only position.

We welcome honest debate in the comments. But we reserve the right to moderate discussions in an effort to keep this a charitable, Christ-honoring blog.
